One thing I noticed is my ping wasn't showing as my true ping , tried all connection speed options from 33 to xdsl1024+ my ping was always showing around 500-800 even if it felt like 200 . Some speeds were flyable others not , I couldn't see anything on radar in some. lockon/config/network/config.lua try this , both on your comp and server's .(backup config.lua first) gameTimeout = 600; pingPeriod = 1; maxPacketSize = 500; playerName = "xxx"; idleTimeout = 600; I tried to raise the numbers little by little and suddenly I could connect at that speed after a server restart. Even exited and rejoined and all was well . Mind you I still noticed people trying to connect and failing . My ping when I join is higher then usual... it takes quite a bit of time for it to come down to what I'm used to... Could it be starcrap working in the background ? I wish I knew what the hell it does when I start the game... Those micro stutters everyone feels for example...there's big stutters at times too...Is it reporting in again ? Not sure if starcrap is responsible but considering it's invasive nature and other issues with it one thing is sure , I will never buy anything with starforce protection on it again. My computer is personnal and it is MINE and I can install/uninstall whatever hardware or software I wish on it without being stripped searched and hassled by some virus like program. OK enuf rant hope this works for you guys.

well my port is set to the default one ==10308 I got plenty of ram 1.5 G of DDR333 and today I can't connect to any server... i get kicked back to debriefing or I get a memory allocation error message and a crash to desktop... last nite I connected fine... Man I love this game ... I wish ED would stop adding radar modes and just fix the game...

My experience with starcrap... changed X-45 drivers... starcrap came up and asked me to activate changed ATI drivers....starcrap came up and asked me to activate started my computer with a different joystick plugged in to usb ...starcrap came up and asked me to activate I killed it each time by hitting my reset key and afterward FC started fine no starcrap bugging me . If the reset thing didn't work I would be down 3 activations ... This renting out of games doesn't "do it" for me , I want to be able to use a game I bought whenever I want . Even if it's years in the future and starcrap has gone the way of the dodo bird. The only reason I still bought it despite starcrap was to encourage ED , who have provided me with many many hours of fun.

lol thx , I know how a download manager works, I was asking because it was possible since it's a secure site maybe it didn't work. I tried it, payed up , and downloading with my DL manager... and yes resuming the download works....... weeeeeee !! I'll have it in about 17 hours !!! gotta love dial up

thx man , anybody tried resuming the download yet ? that's all the info i'm waiting for to pay up... I would hate downloading for 10 hours then poof !! have to reconnect and be screwed On 56K it's going to take me about 20 hours to get :(

Thanks ED for all your hard work I have a few questions about the 1.1 download 1- Is it a pay to download or a pay to activate ? 2- Will we be able to stop and resume the download, for example people on dial up may have to reconnect for some reason. thanks in advance S77th-RYKE

yeah, the server decides what is exported but I wonder if it also pushes to the client the info as to what it is set to... or maybe we will need some kind of script to extract from the server what the server's lua does and what it pushes client side . It would be nice to be able to know all that .

Reinstalled at least 40 times since it came out. Love the game and respect ED but let's face it, Lomac is one of the buggiest piece of software around. I want to own the CD or downloadable file so I can reinstall at my convenience even if it's a few years in the future and no internet connection is present. I don't care about starforce crap or backdoors , I have backups and can reinstall in no time. But I will never pay to lease a game , I want to own it.

Ok let's not let this get out of hand, You saying "pay for every install " made me mad and I still think i't s a stupid idea, it doesn't mean I think you are stupid. I'm all for copy protection but I will not pay to " lease " a game , I want to own it and be able to install it at my convenience . That program running in the background taking the inventory of my computer is a bad idea.

ED is shooting itself in the foot with that copy protection BS No copy protection ever prevent pirating, it just costs the developpers and therefore the consumer more money. I will never buy a game that I cannot own for real and reinstall at my leisure. I hope ED will decide to make CDs and mail them to the rest of the world too. I don't mind paying a little extra . Come on wake up ED , we love you and appreciate the wonderfull work you do , and we want you to succeed and prosper, but you will not get a cent from me and most people if you go the starforce way. People will just wait to get a pirated version cause it's less trouble then what you intend. Thanks for listening

Right now it's disapointing that people have to use very low settings on decent machines. for example I have a P4 @ 2.1 9800 pro and 1.5 gig of DDR 333 and I still have to set everything to low to have a barely playable multiplayer experience... I have also noticed that one of the reasons for warping planes is that the player's machine is lagged out ... If more people would be able to get higher FPS the mutiplayer play would be greatly improved. Don't get me wrong, love this sim , just thinking that if it was "optimised" maybe we would see 900 people in HL under Lockon too... and that my respected ED friends would mean $$$$$$$$$$$ Keep up the good work

First of all merry Chrismas We really need to be able to get repairs on the carrier . Also I know that mutiplayer refueling is not supposed to be supported but did anyone test it ? It wasn't supported before but it worked . It would be real cool if it did again.

So guys ? Any chance of getting repair capacity on the carrier ? or an explanation why this would not be feasible would be appreciated thanks in advance (I so love carrier ops, I'll touch the ground when they bury me)

I understand that ED is not working on the naval aspect of the sim for 1.1 but how much trouble would it be to implement the repair aircraft capability when landing on the carrier ? The capacity to get repairs on the carrier would greatly add to the fun and realism of flying the 33 . Right now it's not real carrier ops when you cannot limp back home to the ship to be repaired.
