Assigning commands to TM Warthog toggle switches/buttons.
KaspeR32 replied to davedontmind's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I just got my TM Warthog and I'm reading through all this the first time. Without using the Target software, how does DCS not see a "toggle" switch being continually pressed? Is there a setting in the options to let DCS know whether it's a push button or a toggle switch? or "Press" and "Pulse" in the target software? From the sounds of it, it seems a lot of people choose to use the lua script within DCS instead of using the target software. I didn't realize until this post that there was no task bar icon for Target, so switching between profiles for every plane in DCS world could be quite annoying. -
Hey, thanks for your responses. I am somewhat familiar with the target software. It's similar to the SST software in function, with a different GUI. The part ill have to get used to is the switches that remain "on," and how to program them. I think I'd prefer having everything in target rather than in game.. I'd like to take advantage of some of those LED lights too ;) As far as the settings in DCS. I can probably leave them as is, since target would replace those joystick commands with key strokes.

Well, so far I love this thing. I haven't even used the target software yet. I do have a question for those willing to listen though. Do most people with this joystick use target profiles or just configure their joystick inside DCS? I'd like to add some functionality for TrackIR, vent/teamspeak, and zoom. I came from an x52 joystick, so I got used to the SST software and actually came to really like it. I used the Mode switch on top to switch between the A-10, BlackShark, and P-51. Should I basically think of the target software being the same as SST software? Can I just delete all the mappings ( besides axis) inside DCS and just use T.A.R.G.E.T.? And if so, does anyone have any good "starting" profiles that I can use to avoid setting up alllllll those key commands? Thank you!

haha.. He realizes he's about to be neglected for the next week. ;)

Well, that was fast! It arrived like 4 weeks earlier than was stated. No extra fees for shipping either like someone on Amazon mentioned. $417 for this thing, no tax, no shipping. It's amazing.

Welp, I ended up going with the Obutto oZone. This will be my first pit, and to be honest, I could be moving in less than a year. I figured the ligher weight, less pieces of the Obutto might be better for the near future. Also, I did get the Warthog mount based on your idea ;) I'm also putting this on carpet, so hopefully the side to side movement will be minimized. Thank you for all your pictures and ideas, it's nice to see what you can eventually make this into!

DCS 1.2.4.12547 update for BS is now available!!!

I've had my finger on the trigger for a sim pit for over a month now. I just can't decide whether it's worth it to save up for the r3volution or just go with the oZone. I feel the oZone would be more than enough for my 1 27" screen, and Warthog HOTAS setup, but when reading posts saying it's well worth the price for the r3volution, I question myself! ARGGG

Well you can download the game via torrent. It will go as fast as your Internet connection allows you.

It's not yet known if FC3 Aircraft will get AFM for F-15 and Su-27(At least for free). What is known, is that they will be sold separately without the requirement of FC3 or LOCK ON.

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
KaspeR32 replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Excellent, Thank you Peter! Do you know if ED has any plans of implementing your mod permanently? Or does it not work as well without TrackIR? -
Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
KaspeR32 replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hello everyone. I just had a quick question regarding this mod. I love the idea of the pivot point being where your neck is, and not where your eyes are, but I had a question about the A-10C view point. Currently (WITHOUT THIS MOD), when I look around, it seems as though my eyes are really far forward compared to where the seat is. Does this mod also put the pivot point back a little bit? All the other planes, it seems to be back far enough to emulate sitting in the seat. Thanks! -
Your most creative ways of killing the engine?
KaspeR32 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Pretty sure if you don't let the engine oil temp raise, and then take off at full throttle, you'll destroy something important. -
The DVD is for the older version of A-10C. It was BEFORE it was integrated into DCS: World. So, the only thing you need from the DVD is the Activation Key. If you have DCS: World already, just download the A-10C MODULE(you can even do this through the module manager now), install it, then start a mission and if it asks for your Activation Key, put it in. I know it's not the most straight forward simulation, but it's improving with every patch.

Can we have this little Huey feature in our BS?
KaspeR32 replied to sylkhan's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Not sure of the logic there. We all use joysticks. Period. There are options for FFB sticks as many other people have stated, why wouldn't there be options for rudder pedals? Also, why include Game mode for every aircraft ED has made? Why include "Takeoff Assist" and "Automatic Rudder" for the P-51D? Is this the "all or nothing" you're talking about? :music_whistling: Anyway, +1 for the option to be made available. -

Yeah, Fry's even says they are on back order. http://www.frys.com/product/6529383 June 17th or something. Also, "Manufacturer: Guillemot" Did they buy out Thrustmaster or something?

P-51 is the most environmentally friendly aircraft in the world
KaspeR32 replied to bkthunder's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Well put. I don't think the engine modeling sucks by any means, but like people have said, the cold-starts could be improved a bit. I think, part of the fun and challenge with the P-51 is managing the engine, so when the start-up is not fully fleshed out, it can pull you out of the simulation right at the start. Yo-Yo did state that they preferred to concentrate on combat systems and modeling, so once she's up in the air, it's just about perfect. I can live with that, but as far as DCS goes, it does seem a bit "rushed" and/or "unfinished" to not include cold start engine dynamics. Especially when they put so much effort into the Black Shark and A-10C cold starts. Still an awesome and fun plane to fly though. -
I'm a little confused now. Is Yo-Yo saying that the drag from the small apparatus that guides the JDAM high enough to slow the bomb down? If that's the case, why is the GBU-12 (that also has wings to guide it) so much faster?

It's not just the appearance, the behavior of the engine at cold starts is off too. Just start it with the throttle all the way closed, starts like a dream every time. Can't even stall it out after. :music_whistling: But I do hope they find some time to come back to it. But if it means delaying DCS: Next then I'm not really sure if I would want that. :smilewink: -
I've noticed that also. But why skip the update? It takes 2 minutes and it updates other things and fixes other bugs.

Press F6. You can watch your bombs falling and it has location/speed info on the bottom of the screen.

GBU 12s fall at a much faster speed than the 38s. I've actually noticed this as well. The 12s speed up to terminal velocity as the OP stated, but the 38s do slow down considerably. I just thought the 12s were a lot more aerodynamic. I wonder if that's intended.
