  1. if we assume that the hornet radar is now correct and then use that as a baseline for the viper radar adjustment, would that produce really ridiculously close range for the viper ? asking cos it might be a good test for seeing if the radar perf was overcorrected
  2. the missiles don't have to be in pairs, you can still have 1 LAU-127 and 1 LAU-115 so are able to carry a single missile. you can't direct mount a LAU-127 however
  3. if ED moved the GBU12 options for the hornet to the kneeboard or eventually the AMU, that would be amazing
  4. in DCS FD is selectable and it gives options to set bank angle now whether it will work is any ones guess
  5. I watched the vid, my mistake was to assign the cause of the target walking off on to antenna movements, I stand corrected there, thanks for the info
  6. You all realize that you don't have to bore sight mavs to use them... right ? Using them unaligned and then taking control to manually refine is what they do irl too afaik. My stance is that all jets that do it irl should do it in DCS, asking for auto refueling or landing is more or less the same thing as asking for this, you have your tools and limitations, to study them in order to exploit them to their maximum capability or to find neat tricks is up to you.
  7. with an AESA, I'd agree, but a mech radar will be moving much slower than that I think there is a bug where it does it too often, but I doubt that it is a bug that it does loose lock sometimes
  8. old post, but the hornet should be able to DSG via moving map (HSI only) so you can use that to kind of workaround it eventually.
  9. first off, I am not asking for real life WEZ charts of DCS weapons. with some weapons knowing the WEZ is critical for effective employment, such as the JDAM, or 120s if ED could produce WEZ charts of the weapons as they are in game it would provide a giant leap in tactics development in DCS, making basically everything better in terms of gameplay.
  10. Chizch already said as much for HARMs and mavs and the next patch will have the HARM overhauled, as per newsletters.
  11. sorry to be the party pooper but the planes 3/4 stations aren't wired for it. source: Scrape's post, you get the pleasure of arguing about that with him if you want to verify his credentials
  12. I fully agree that they should get removed, I don't pick what I want on a plane based on what I like
  13. well, since the viper is the topic at hand that's what we are discussing, but me and many people I know in DCS would also like the removal of unrealistic things from all planes that being said, I don't want to derail this particular topic
  14. you need to rebuild the wing entirely to do it, and as Scrape said its infeasible and no one does it, the US just handles not having enough HARMs by throwing another plane at the problem, I'd even bet that it would be cheaper to do so
  15. its not about not using it because you deem it unrealistic the plane physically cannot use them, if I asked for an ATFLIR on a viper it would be the same argument, it just doesn't work with the plane also for some reason the people that agree that 4 HARMS are realistic but 12 mavs aren't and that's a contradiction. Sounds like people are being selective with what parts of realism they want. and for the earlier convo (dunno how to quote that), if a person bought a plane purely because of the numbers of HARMs it can carry they should have done more research, ED is not responsible for the bad choices its customers make.
  16. comparing liveries to weapons is also known as reductio ad absurdum, I think I don't need to point out why that isn't a valid factual argument.
  17. well, imo it should also be removed, I for one take realism with the good and bad, therefore whatever limits are present should be reflected where it can be, that being said I also think some systems should be changed to accommodate the lack of feeling and real hardware but this issue is not a matter of opinion
  18. because the real life hardware different than commercial HOTAS systems it means that some of the things in the plane are not usable as they otherwise would be. the HUD cursor sensitivity is one of these things, we have the option of making the DDI cursors too slow or the HUD too fast meaning the hornet in AUTO HUD designation is extremely hard to acquire a target. So the ability to set different sensitivity settings for the HUD would solve this issue.
  19. the issue is when you try to do it the first time when you go A/A mode but regardless, apparently it is correct as is I do suspect there is a misunderstanding however
  20. this bug is a rather easy one to prove, if you go A/A mode and try to use the HOTAS command of SCS into left DDI the AZ/EL page will not be brought up it requires you to go to the TAC menu and wait for the AZ/EL option to appear instead of bringing it up regardless of the OSB option being displayed in A/A master mode
  21. having the kneeboards displayed on the pilots legs with the options to swap would be a quantum leap in immersion and mission planning also the ability to draw on it on the fly even with a single color would be a one of a kind feature in flight sims and a revolution to missions and coordination
  22. keep in mind that is a cruise video, unless there were no TGPs available back then all the planes should be fitted with one for standard ops the A below alt appears only if there is a ranging method iirc but not entirely sure
  23. fair point, but I am yet to see a marker as low as 4 o'clock position whereas that is the avg DCS one however I got informed that the rhinos use PGU rounds mostly, which I am still investigating
  24. as seen in the picture from Rhino ball 2016 the IN RNG marker is almost at the 9 o'clock position as opposed to the 4 o'clock position in DCS the gun has not changed in the rhino and the DCS hornet has AGR mode now too a quick calc with some trig reveals that the range in the picture is approx 6000ft (6096ft) at 70% unwinded range cue, assuming linear scale (for approx. accuracy) the 100% range marker would be 8571ft (I am still new to the forums so please excuse if the things are spammy)
