  1. So the trash image quality of DCS with this VR set with supposedly great displays is just the limits of the hardware? Great... How utterly disappointing this technology is.
  2. LANTIRN?
  3. Each new leak about BF3 just serves to chip away at my eagerness to play it. When I first heard about it I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Every week there's some news about how dumbed down, consolised, and designed for twitch arcade FPS generation.
  4. It's simple. If you need it now, buy now. If you don't need it now, wait until you do, then buy.

    ArmA III

Despite whatever list of complaints users may have regarding the ARMA series, I think there's still far more that make it unique in the market and preferable to the junk out there. I'll be paying for ARMA3 for sure, as well as other smaller war games/sims (Red Orchestra 2, Iron Front) that are trying to break out of the COD/BF mould. I am definitely not spending any hard earned cash on Call of Duty, Battlefield 3, or whatever EA has to offer.
  6. Probably because the guy who only changed two things didn't know what he was doing, or was too lazy to overclock in a manner that's the most efficient and most stable.
  7. It only seems to be of any use in comparison to low AA settings. For anyone who uses high anti-aliasing and has the GPUs to back those settings up, it seems quite useless.
  8. I think all of the changes were 3D related.
  9. The 5850 is a more modern GPU that will use less power, and has more effective memory (1GB). That 1792MB VRAM is shared across two GPUs, so you actually only have 896MB available. The 295 would actually be more powerful in most circumstances. It's really a strange comparison to make since the cards are from different generations and are from different market segments.
  10. Your assertion that SLI is "Marketing hype" is itself hyperbole. Your economic and technical circumstances may make SLI unfeasible for you, but not everyone is like you. My energy costs here in Canada are probably 1/5 your energy costs. Saving a couple of dollars per month at the expensive of GPU power is not an option here. Also I choose to game at 5860x1200, and use Nvidia. A single Nvidia GPU cannot run three monitors. Also, at this resolution I require more than 2GB VRAM, something that no single Nvidia GPU can offer. Is SLI marketing hype? Not at all. It's just that you've decided to make the personal decision that SLI is not for you.
  11. They're headphones. You're not going to be able to tell simulated 5.1 from 7.1 from real 5.1. Also those Logitech headphones are ok for short periods, but I find mine uncomfortable after 30 minutes. They're really tight. Then again, I'm used to decent Sennheiser headphones.
  12. buggy beta drivers
  13. Despite all the hype about being different, this looks no more than Battlefield of Duty 3
  14. Friends want CAS when we play...
  15. Has pricing been announced? The game alone costs something like $59. How much do they plan on charging per month as well?
  16. Dammit. DCS A-10C has spoiled me, and I can't stand to fly A-10s in ARMA2 anymore!
  17. Ohhh interesting. An ACRE equivalent for DCS A-10C?
  18. It appears that not even the translator can decrypt this senseless post.

    SLI

Thank for the info, but unfortunately that's not a great solution, as I don't just use this computer for DCS A-10C...

    SLI

I've noticed that too... Perhaps the new graphical enhancements are more taxing on the videocards. I do notice that TGP is only getting worse with each additional patch with tons of terrain glitches even on the "every frame" settings.
  21. MSI makes great custom designed video cards, but their motherboards seem to have a high failure rate.
  22. I'm starting to think that this isn't a problem that ED is capable of fixing, which would be very disappointing.
  23. That's if you believe EA's PR, and think that somehow none of this has anything to do with Origin. They're using a technicality, that never stopped them from selling on Steam before, in order to gain leverage on their own competing service.
  24. I'm with you... and what a coincidence that EA just happened to pull Crysis 2 off Steam right before the re-release of this game on the PC in order to promote their stupid Origin system. I hope they fail miserably.
