  1. Hi guys, Take a look at this movie http://www.airwarfareforum.com/home/common/saf.avi It's a simulated combat between german Mig-29 and F/A-18 from Switzerland. I wont tell you more. Just enjoy the movie.

  3. Lockon do same thing only the AI of Lockon is much more advanced that's all so it demands more cycles to compute.
  4. Try uninstalling softwares which you use to create virtual driveres. I have a cd version and I have no problem at all playing. Only thing was that my RW wasn't compatible with CD so I had to use my DVD to install FC.
  5. May I remind you that F4 when was released had multiple memory leaks and still had it even after 1.08 US patch. Performance hit had nothing to do with the AI. Besides F4 and Lockon Algo for computing the AI have nothing in common. If you admit that then you will also admit that the buble system simply can't be implemented. Lockon is computing the AI on the theater level while the F4 is computing the AI on player's level. As for last sentence I agree with you. Just remeber that ED had planed to build the DC for Lockon. Why they didn't do it only them can awnser eventhough we have the begining of the awnser. However ED has prooved us that they are listening to the community and I beleive that with the experience gained over Lockon developement they'll give us an ulitimate warrior in simulation world with their next title.
  6. You all seem to forget something. All of you want an AI which feels and act as a human. However I don't know how many of you tryed to program the AI, for those who did they know that during programing process of AI a "tree" should be elaborated. I'll expalin what do I mean. You have an AI. An AI encouters another AI or a player. Based on that situation the AI should try every possible awnser test it in simulation and take the awnser which gives it the greatest probability of success. Now imagine the number of possibilities for for initial situation and imagine the nomer of awnsers. If you consider that you have lets say 4 initial situation then the number of possibilites to test would be something like 4 power "n" where the "n" is how deep you want the AI to go in the awnsers. The greater the n is the more likely the AI will behave as a human. This is just for one AI. Now add more AIs and add a physic engine plus graphic engine. NO PC in the world will be able to handle that. Once again the AI from F4 is using scripted actions. The awnser will always be the same no matter what. However there was a game on the market made by guys from Matemathical Institutes called "Conflict Zone". They developed the "self-learning" AI. The AI was learning from human player and was generating its own code which was stored withing game directory. After 50 to 100 hours of play it was almost impossible to beat it. That game was a real time strategy type. Such approach could be an awnser for what we all want. Those students wanted to develop a Direct AI. Some sort of AI sub-routines just like Directx for gfx but for some reason game industry didn't want that.   7. Oh comme on. F4 AI are you kidding ???? Where did you see in real life an A/G mission being ended with 4 kills for a plane heavy loaded with A/G ordonance ??? Air defense system is much beter in Lockon than it is in F4. F4 AI isnt a real AI. It will always react same no matter the situation wheras AI from Lockon wouldn't. If you call an immersion the fact that the AI plane should rush on air defenses then I suggest you to study a litle bit better ROE for every army in the world. In Lockon the AI trys to preserve its "life" and in "F4" the AI is a terminator. Can you telle me what makes you think that the AI in F4 is much better ??? For Note : I have a copy of F4 patched at SP4 and I'm playing Balkans.

  10. It's normal behaviour for me. At its limit range the target should not manoeuver in order for missile to score. If you want confirmed kill with this missile either you should gain an altitude or fly at super sonic when you lunch.
  11. Ok. When you lunch the Win XP open with Ctrl+Alt+del the task manager. Search for star force process. I have a CD version and my process is called CDAC11BA.exe Physicly the file is located in windows\driver directory. If a similar file isn't there it means that the star force protection isn't installed. You should try to download it again and istall all from scratch. Hope that this helps you.
  12. Sure but one problem can have multiple solutions and the F4 camapign kind is one of them. More seriously. What I call a dynamic campaign is the fact if I bomb the bridge and I'm successful on that mission I want it in next mission to be destroyed as well. Mission generator in next should then generate next mission with ground units moving around taht bridge or not crossing the river at all. That kind of thing could be done in background during mission generation process. On the other hand what you ask for it's allready there. Each unit in Lockon has its own AI. Try puting M1A1 and T-80 close one to another while they are not in same coalition. They'll start shotting at each other and you didn't issue any kind of order in editor, you just drop them on the map and hit fly. F4 campaign dosent have that. Each unit has a scripted behaviour which gicves you an illusion of AI. To keep this short : If ED could keep track on what objects are destroyed in previous mission which units where lost and how many units each side had at the begining of the campaign then the mission generator should be able to gnereate next mission which is "realistic" in campaign world. That means that we should not have necessary Kursk reproduced for every mission. It should be rather something like engaging an armored column or suply lines. But I think that this requires a complet code change and that this thing will not be implemented for Lockon but for their next title when they will be able to sel that game without any restriction to the western countries in game shops. As for now only a piece of advice. Enjoy the game.
  13. @ApolloFarStriker If ED could do a real dynamic campaign then that will be possible. P.S. I'm talking about real dynamic campaign not like the one in FB series.
  14. Heuhe, you should upgrade everything. But upgrading the video card without upgrading the CPU is useless since the CPU will block performances of your brand new video card. Here is my system : P4 2.4 GHz 1Gb of RAM @ 2100 ATI 9800 pro As you can see it's just slightly above minimum specification givenn by ED for FC. On medium setting (the one givenn when you hit the boutton medium), I have 25-26 fps on average when flying ground missions and around 40 -50 fps when flying high air combat missions. All missions are not heavy charged with AI units.
  15. A question though. In order for Nvidia cards to work in SLI with a specific game you need some sort of litle driver built by Nvidia for that specific game. Does this driver exist for Lockon ???
  16. Windows WP64 is still in beta stage which means that SF will not even bother to develop the driver for it. However ED will not have to recompile the exe for the game. 64 bits sytem can still use 32 bits adressing program.
  17. HI there. I have a question concerning russian AT missile (the one laser guided). Why does this thing spin like crazy when it's fired ??? I'm expecting a serious awnser. Thx for awnsering.

  19. In future to prevent this when installing textures with Loman turn off option "replace CDDS".
  20. Do you have a programable flight control system such as X-52 45 or Cougar ? Try to check your programming there and see if there is no some sort of conflict. Saitek drivers are reported to have conflict with some devices.
  21. A question though. Did you turn windows accesibility on ? If yes than the awnser to your problem is there. Accesibility options are in control pannel. Usualy repating shitf control or win key strikes will bring you out of 3d application if this is turend on.
  22. Other thing to do if you want to maintain your missile labels only is to edit label distance. You set for every object far and close to zero except for missiles.
  23. Check for view commands in config menue. You have some very useful for video purpose. No need for lua editing any more.
  24. I didnt change my config since Lockon 1.0 was released. P4 2.4C GHz 1 Go of Ram and 9800 pro. Settings are always on medium by default. I have to say that I'm impressed with the gain of fps during ground attacks. Now I can even pass through the smoke and 20+ destroyed tanks wont bring my fps count down to 5. As a ground attack fan I especialy enjoy flying on Su-25T. It's an awesome plane. You did a good job and guess what you've just got your self a new customer for your next title. Thank you for sharing this passion with us ED.
