Excellent news !!!. I'm currently running zzz space sound mod and also Mustangs high.lua mod. I'm just wondering how will the auto updater function cope with modified installations of world ?. Would a modified installation fail an integrity check or will the auto updater just overwrite everything regardless ?. Thanks....

New user - which aircraft would you buy?
Gunnergolly replied to Horrgakx's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Personally i'm a KA-50 fanboy. The above quote is why i enjoy this aircraft so much, simply because it's sensor/defensive aid suite is pretty basic which makes flying, fighting and surviving in this machine quite a challenge. In my humble opinion a single seat attack helicopter by it's very design is flawed and is definitely not the way to go, the DCS KA-50 allows you to experience that.... and then make up your own mind about single seater attack heli's. Sure the DCS KA-50 is a bit of a handful..... but she's interesting and devastating once you get the hang of her !!!. However learning the A-10C along with her systems (and reading the 672 page manual) will keep you occupied and for quite some time. I've been playing since Beta release and i'm still reading that manual !!!. Definitely the A-10C is good choice for your DCS introduction... Regards... -
Take your time developing with this one RAZBAM !!! This is one airframe that's worth waiting for... Cheers Gunner.....

The Toad (Su-25T) appreciation thread
Gunnergolly replied to Nate--IRL--'s topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Agreed the SU-25T is a fantastic plane, once you have the autopilot mastered. The only problem that i have with the "Toad" is that once i have finally found the target with it's forward facing Shkval.........i'm often nearly on top of it !!!... At least with the A-10C you can circle and take your time searching with the TGP.. My only real complaint with the current Su-25T is that it currently has no fire suppressant system fitted to it's engines.... Looking forward to the SU-25 "Froggie" when she comes.... -
Help.... my Toads engine on fire !!!!..
Gunnergolly replied to Gunnergolly's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Ok thanks, i'll give that a try next time i have an engine fire... I've got the above two key bindings mapped on my HOTAS now... Cheers... -
I was hit by a SAM which caused a fire in one of my engines. Has the SU-25T got any fire extinguishers installed for it's engines ???. Have looked through all the key assignments in the controls section and can't seem to find anything listed. There are options for shutting down the engines, so maybe it can be done that way ???.. Anybody have an ideas ?.. Regards....

Curious why DCS World is maxing out my GPU ???.....
Gunnergolly replied to Gunnergolly's topic in Game Performance
I don't really understand why my GPU was maxing out at 100% all the time when i had already capped my FPS in the config file at 36. When playing DCSW i was indicating 36 FPS in the top left of my screen so the FPS capping was supposedly working. However i tried turning on Vsync as suggested but then my FPS went up to 60FPS and GPU was still running at 100% with temps reaching 90 DegC. I've now downloaded the Nvidia 301.24 Beta drivers and EVGA Precision X (this utility is required for the actual FPS limiting). I have set my FPS at 34 using the EVGA Precision X utility and i'm now running at 72% GPU loading @ 74 DegC.........a bit more comfortable !!... I hope in the future Nvidia will incorporate the FPS limiter within the driver itself so you don't have to use a third party utility. Thankyou for your replies and suggestions. -
Hello I'm hoping the answer as to why my GPU is being driven hard to 100% is because DCSW is still WIP Beta... I have a EVGA GTX 580 and i've been playing the BS2 1.111 "Clear Tkvarcheli" mission which is pretty demanding mission for any computer (mine is a i5 2500k@4.8, 8GB RAM). The above mission with all settings on high and my FPS capped at 36 and never drops below that (GPU temp stable at 76DegC and average GPU use around 72%. In comparison when i make a simple test flight of the SU-25T in the DCSW mission editor and then go and fly it my GPU is regularly touching 100% with temps at 87DegC The sim still feels very smooth at that but just a bit worrying when my fan is constantly going all out to try and keep the temperatures in check. Has anybody else noticed that their GPU is getting worked harder when playing DCSW ?...

Best NVidia drivers for the GTX580 ATM?
Gunnergolly replied to msalama's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
When updating Nvidia drivers is it best if you remove the old ones first, boot the machine up in Safe mode and then use driver sweep ?. I installed my EVGA 580 yesterday and noticed that when i installed a newer driver (the installer failed on the first attempt) it automatically removed the first driver and then installed the newer one. Have been a long time AMD user and have always used Safe mode/Driver sweeper when upgrading my drivers. I run BS2/A-10C with the AA & AF on application controlled in the Nvidia settings panel, do i just select FXAA as "On" and this somehow gives better/more efficient performance within DCS ???... Nvidia 680 GTX Inbound
Gunnergolly replied to Terminal Meltdown's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hello I'm considering buying a new Nvidia graphics card soon. At the moment i'm only runninig a single 37" LED TV at a resolution of 1920X1080. I only play BS2, A-10C, Rise of flight and maybe BMS soon once i find my original disk. My current HD5870 do's a pretty good job of running these games. I owned a HD7950 briefly until i had RMA it, but i found that my i5 CPU became the bottleneck when i was running that card. Running this configuration would there honestly really be any performance gain in buying the 680 over a 580 when running these games ???. I know that the 680 will obviously be the more powerful card but is it noticeably better when running say DCS ?. Personally i'm hoping that the 580 might be sufficient. Regards Gunner.... -
Finally upgraded to 37" TV

Nvidia 680 GTX Inbound
Gunnergolly replied to Terminal Meltdown's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The Nvidia 580 price's haven't drop as much as i was hoping with the launch of their new card. At this moment in time you might as well spend that bit more and buy the 680 instead. I think i'm just going to stay with my HD5870 for now and invest in that long overdue power supply.
