Excellent news and happy to see serious efforts to develop the WWII Pacific theater. Exited about the PTO, but also like to mentioned there is already an impressive content available created by very skilled mod developers from the community. It would be a quick win for all if ED would consider talking for instance to Hawkeye60 and incorporate his mods, like they did recently with Currenthill, etc. Showcased here by Devil505

Blackburn Buccaneer in development

Was watching this yesterday on YT. The wish list just got bigger and this is UK Naval aviation only -
Set RPM to about ±2400 (or full) and leave it. There is no need to re-adjust once set. Keep MAP around ±28, using the throttle to control your rate of descent (maximum 500 ft/min). The key is to position yourself correctly in the Groove so that only minimal corrections are required. Many forget that propeller-driven aircraft—especially high-performance props—demand significant stick-and-rudder coordination. This is very different from most jets or FBW aircraft in DCS, which often need little or no rudder input. I fly with rudder pedals myself, and it takes practice to coordinate throttle changes with rudder adjustments so they cancel each other out. It’s a challenging aircraft to master for most people… but isn’t that part of the fun? It also make you appreciate what the veterans did under much more challenging circumstances. NOTE: I’ve noticed that some who were struggling with handling had internal fuel above 50% plus an external load. This will noticeably change your aircraft’s attitude and behavior.

Blackburn Buccaneer in development
Maddog-1969 replied to Beldin's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Excellent news!!! In the virtual aviation museum that DCS is becoming the UK aviation industry heritage is massively underrepresented. It produced so many groundbreaking designs and iconic aircraft. Especially with the release of the CW Germany map, many of the cold war era jets would fit perfectly. Looking forward to the release. -
Hi Saxman, I am sure you're right. However, just sharing what works for me after watching several Royal Navy carrier Ops video's and practicing the FAA curved approach

Without having seen the footage and having heard of a 'bug' with catching the wire if the carrier is moving in a certain direction on the map, I would suggest not to flare. A carrier aircraft you do not flare, but but fly into the deck. Setup the correct AoA in advance (speed and trim) should ensure that your aircraft (and hook) hit the deck at the right angle to catch the wires. If there is the need to adjust the rate of descend, adjust power and not pitch. Keep on practicing, I took me a while as well. I find this bird more challenging to land on a carrier than your average jet. However, good fun and very rewarding once you figure it out.

What can't we release Cold War Germany Phase 2 without?
Maddog-1969 replied to MAESTR0's topic in Wish List
Thanks for asking and keep up the great work. This map has all the potential to become the most popular DCS map for numerous and various reasons. 1) Some more authentic buildings on Airports. The Bitburg QRA is now a standard hangar, etc. 2) Some more diversity in churches, water-towers and repetitive landmarks. Love to do low level navigation, but most of the smaller towns and villages look the same. 3) Add some temporary road-bases as they used to have during exercises on the 'Autobahn' -
I noticed various issues with various modules over the years and this topic doesn't seem to have a top priority with most Dev's. Hence, I use OpenKneeboard and the software lets you manipulate the Kneeboard so you can place in anywhere (inside/outside cockpit, on your knee) and resize, angle, etc. Two other benefits are, it works with pdf format and and if you buy a simple 'pen tablet (fi Wacom One, 35Euro Amazon), and then you can even hand write on it. Very handy, especially in VR, and less immersion breaking.

Another video maybe of interest. No audio, but some interesting footage for those interested in Corsair carrier operations. I hope one day we also get a deck crew and evermore so pitching deck simulation.

@Devil 505, the screenshot is taken from the video. The video is apparently former training material, rather then testimonials (ref. your excellent find). (1) I have the feeling your (none) trap issues might have something to do with the ME and/or (failing) scripts or the 'know issue' reported by M3 in their release notes Hook clipping through ground and carrier (2) The stutters you showed I don't have, but do see drastic FPS fluctuations around the carrier. Luckily I only noticed them on the FPS graphs (pop up window) and not so much during the actual flying. Stuttering is not uncommon with first releases (modules, maps) and are normally fixed by ED/Dev's in upcoming patches.

@Devil 505 Thanks for the great video link (and your YT video's). Found this video on the same channel describing the UK Fleet Air Arm CASE 1 pattern equivalent FYI, I flew the Marianas quick start 'carrier take off' mission this morning and my plane trapped every single time. Furthermore, the comm's (changed Carrier to a/c freq. first) and LSO rating system seems to be working too. Are you using the mission(s) that comes with the module or designed one yourself in the ME?

Hi, thanks for the links. Checked them out and early stages, but hopeful one day it will come.
-
Happy to hear that. Is there a link or can you provide a reference to follow the development?

Okay, no worries and many thanks for the professional support. Still hoping one day to get an official Hunter, Buccaneer, Jaguar, Sea Harrier, etc. module, as the former glorious UK aviation industry deserves not only a place in the history books, but also in DCS.
