There's other TGP related symbology. At least LTD/R status and Masking Circle. Wag's could have been referencing this, or he could have been mistaken. Either way there is additional symbology IRL. The actual LOS symbol - who care's anyway? You're going to be using another sensor to cue the TGP anyway, either a Waypoint DSG or the radar (or datalink eventually?). I've had the A10C for 10 years and have honestly never used the TGP Hud diamond to point the pod.

But isn't anybody going to comment last Wags' mini-update?
AvroLanc replied to amalahama's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
It was telling that it had only yesterday been implemented in the internal build and was called WIP, but yet Kate P seems to suggest it’ll ready in approx 2 weeks. We shall see....fingers crossed. I’m more interested in the complete TGP and JDAM, which are massive tasks in themselves. I’m happy to ride the wave of false optimism for the moment. -
We should eventually be able to use ME to pre plan targets. Although one year on from JDAM release and it’s not even been mentioned again. Wags was talking about a feature ‘Later in EA’.......seemingly much later....
-
The newer JSOW C-1 has a moving maritime target capability. It uses Link 16 to update target coordinates I believe, along with a terminal IR seeker. It's way outside our time frame though, probably Superhornet only.
-
A10 displays it on the HUD, can’t get more prominent than that.... But seriously we’re not 100% sure. Educated guess work. How do you envision using the data in real time? I can’t remember the last time I wanted to know exact roll rate and range to the nearest foot during a merge. It’s a relatively minor nerdy feature to argue about at the best of times.
-
Ok, I was going by memory with the cameras. Well data freeze is a thing in the A10C and JF-17, I was applying a but of logic. VRS Superbug has a pretty good foundation in Hornet avionics too. Since we haven’t got proper documentation or a finished feature we’ll have to wait.
-
Yeah again it’s for debriefing purposes. There’s a digital recorder that records the DDI’s. (On older LOTs it was an actual camera on each cockpit sill and VCR that recoded the MFD.) My guess is the data freeze would be looked at on the post mission video, to match each weapon release with the targets parameters at that moment. From here you could work out whether the shot was valid etc. Same thing with dumb bomb drops etc. It’s not as if you could realistically use the info in real time in cockpit. Yeah, some update on these incomplete additions would be welcome.

Wags sort of confirmed it. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4079926&postcount=13 and a general feeling for it. Are you familar with a simlar feature in the A10C HUD/IFFCC Menu. It's there too, but completed. Scroll down to 'A/G Stores Freeze Data (typical)' https://forums.vrsimulations.com/support/index.php/Air-To-Ground_Systems

I'm not disagreeing that you've identified the data fields correctly. But...my feeling is they should all 'freeze' at moment of weapon launch. This is then recorded by the display recorders, and reset at next weapon launch to show the next 'freeze'. Have you looked at DATA page for A/G munitions, it's similar. I'm not even sure if we should get the display at all until a weapon launch..... There's no value in having real time changing numbers...how on earth would you interpret all that. There are other more useful cockpit indications for all of those. Wait until it's finished. Whenever that might be......
-
Yeah, target info at the moment of last weapon launched. To validate the shot parameters.
-
It’s in because it’s the start of a feature in the real thing. I think though it’s supposed to show a static snapshot of information of the last weapon launched. The DDI recorder would then record it to have a record for debriefing. Unfortunately it was put in half finished and hasn’t been touched since.
-
It’s heavily WIP. I wouldn’t bother till it’s complete. Meters.....huh????
-
+1 Need to make more noise about these features.

Will F/A-18C ACLS implementation be a part of the Carrier release?
AvroLanc replied to nickos86's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Would be a wonderful hidden surprise and a logical move in development....but my guess....almost definitely not. -
Yeah, it’s in wish list now, so there you go. What you see is what you get with ED. There’s been zero indication that this is in, even in Wags case III video from ages ago. There’s not going to be any departure radio at all either. Otherwise it would have been showcased. Not in mini-update, not in, is the general rule. It would be a problem for AI to switch multiple radio channels, with the current radio system. Which needs significant changes. Still, other sims have been managing for years, maybe we’ll catch up. It’s all in the lap of the [Later in EA] Gods.

It’s going to be just one freq. as it is now. Disappointed but not entirely surprised.

Bumping again. One year on and I don’t think there’s ever been an explanation of whether Collision Steering is implemented. Or even what it’s exactly supposed to indicate. Thanks.

[CAN NOT REPRODUCE]LTWS L&S not showing up on the SA page
AvroLanc replied to Harker's topic in Bugs and Problems
You’re in STT. The issue is when you’re just in L&S with one TDC press. ‘Soft lock’ for want of a better term. -
I've discovered the model viewer in the DCS files. It's got some interesting stuff in there. Is there a way to change an animation/setting and 'save' it so that it shows up in game? I'm thinking of the nose fuzes for JDAM. The model viewer has got various nose plugs modeled and also a DSU-33 airburst fuze... Can I set a more realistic nose plug as a default and use it in game? See shot below.
-
It’s for additional Link 16 functions. Provides info on flight members and TUC. No one knows if it will even get implemented. Hopefully.

[REPORTED]PP mode in JDAM cancel the TGP waypoint slave
AvroLanc replied to Martin2487's topic in Bugs and Problems
No you can't I'm afraid, that's the issue. The FLIR just boresights with a PP selected. -
[REPORTED]PP mode in JDAM cancel the TGP waypoint slave
AvroLanc replied to Martin2487's topic in Bugs and Problems
That kinda defeats the purpose of what we’re trying to do. The scenario is that you got a group of PP targets from mission planning. You want to use the TGP to view impacts, so you create a waypoint in the same target locality. Pressing WPDSG should slave the TGP to the waypoint.... except it doesn’t because there’s a conflict with the TGT crated in the PP Mission. This maybe by design, but it does create difficulties for what should be a common and useful task for TGP/JDAM combo. -
After the recent 20/3 patch the TGP sensor head no longer re-stows when in 'Standby' or 'Off'. If you spawn on the ground the TGP is stowed (facing rear) until the point you place in Standby or On. Fine, but after it unstows, Standby and Off do nothing to stow animation, although correct behavior is seen on FLIR page. Probably related to recent TGP changes, but would be nice to get fixed. Thanks. F18 TGP Stow.trk

[REPORTED]PP mode in JDAM cancel the TGP waypoint slave
AvroLanc replied to Martin2487's topic in Bugs and Problems
This strikes me as unusual as well. I can confirm same behaviour here. Using the FLIR for JDAM bomb damage assessment was going to be useful. I can imagine having 2 'TGT' points is causing confusion in the system. The PP TGT and the WP DESG TGT conflict with each other. Maybe it's not possible IRL, not sure yet, need to dig more. -
[REPORTED]Caution tone and intercomm work with no Elec. Power
AvroLanc replied to AvroLanc's topic in Bugs and Problems
Oh, I didn't notice FC3 planes. It's a bummer, it's a nice bit of simulation that I noticed in 2.5.5, but 2.5.6 messed it all up. Hopefully a quick fix, once acknowledged.
