So still no news about AG radar,SLAM,and new FLIR function?
AvroLanc replied to flankerjun's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
100% Agree Surely it shouldn't be that close to the wire at this stage. Someone knows, in all likelihood whether those items are good enough to be released. We appreciate these are strange and difficult times but this GO/NOGO situation regarding a greatly anticipated update isn't exactly new territory for ED. Expectation management is key here and it seems to be lacking. It's a continuing trend. Unpopular opinion: Delay SC release until the Hornet additions are ready. We get one comprehensive and crowd pleasing update out the door successfully. It'll do ED no end of good will in the long run. Break the trend of continual disappointment for the very patient Hornet customers out there. -

AvroLanc replied to flankerjun's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
That kinda sounds like we shouldn’t expect SLAM, finished TGP, JDAM improvements or A/G radar on Wednesday.... If that’s the case, it’ll be best to be upfront now, because many are expecting those things based on Kate’s last communication. I can see dissident from many here, and elsewhere, if the patch comes without at least some of those things. Rightly or wrongly. -
INITIAL POINT and the F18 - does it do anything?
AvroLanc replied to nickos86's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Creepy, I'm assuming this would be a good case for use of OFFSET Waypoint function IRL. Then designate on the offset. Would this be true? Has data-link and the CAS page replaced much of the need for the voice 9-line?...I'm guessing not fully. The old fashioned way being the basis of everything and a quicker no-nonsense back up? -
Sometime in 2021...... JPF/ARM/DSU-33 fuse etc still to come.......maybe....
-
But Link 4C should be able to transmit your wingmans radar targets correct? I forget how many but maybe 4? I've never been able to make this work........ Any tricks? Does it work in MP? Does the wingman radar have to be in TWS - maybe why AI never works? Cheers
-
Ok thanks for the doc. To be honest though, unless the JTAC is human in MP, or we have a improved AI version, the CAS brief will be quite artificial and simplistic anyway. How useful do you find the A10c message page version as it is now? I’d rather have core aircraft systems that have at least been acknowledged by ED, than a late addition system that would only be used for one mission set. Admittedly it would be cool, I do want it, but not before published roadmap.
-
Have we got any information regarding CAS page availability on a 'mid 2000's' legacy Hornet. I suspect it might be a later addition to both Super's and Legacy... Plus, there has been absolutely zero hint that it's on ED's radar for implementation. Other missing stuff on the roadmap has all been hinted / teased by Wags and Co. over the last 2 years. There have been zero mentions of a CAS page. I'd like to see all roadmap items be added first. Maybe the CAS page (along with improved AI JTAC) is a candidate for a Hornet 2.0 in a few years time.

Source?

It used to work properly though.

The survey is essentially useless. ‘Ground Radar’....how I hate that phrase....will win. Along with ATFLIR. Most people have little idea what most of those items are used for. The utility of El/Az page and Seq 1 2 3, PP etc will be underestimated. A description of each is needed. Other items have dependencies on others, eg mumi on mission card. Others are so basic, IN LAR, select AA and AG on ground etc, they should not be completing with ATFLIR. Even the original plan was more logical.

Umm, to be fair it’s a Friday, not a Wednesday and there’s a possible OB update next week......

While we wait for a Data Card interface (ME PP/PB points)
AvroLanc replied to randomTOTEN's topic in Wish List
+1 Target points exist for other aircraft. The bare minimum of 6 GPS PP points for JDAM, in the interim, would be very welcome. -
It counts down from 30s. When it reaches 0, place INS knob to NAV. That’s about it. Nothing else simulated in background. Please ED correct me if I’m wrong.

Does anyone have exact differences between the SLAM and SLAM-ER? All I know is SLAM-ER has +150nm range versus the 80nm odd for the E version. I’m assuming there are man-in-the-loop differences as well. Maybe terminal guidance improvements. Like, a stabilised seeker and easier retargeting for the SLAM-ER. Maybe a reattack option? I’m assuming both feature an autopilot that allows level cruise flight to a GPS seeker initialisation point.

GBU-32 JDAM - how does it differ from the rest of the GBUs?
AvroLanc replied to nickos86's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Also a bit surprised it hasn’t come yet. There’s a 3D model of it already done. See model viewer. I would have thought the guidance FM/autopilot would be the same as GBU38/31, just tweaked a little for a 1000lb bomb lift/drag. Maybe it’s a small item to negotiate over for EA in 2020. No great step up in capability, but a further step towards completeness and immersion. Which is important. Plus they look better double racked on a BRU-55 compared to -38’s. -
So there's 8 pages and counting....of comments and requests. Can we have some 'discussion' from your side too, Wags and team?
-
A roadmap is appreciated for sure, However for many I think the concern that Hornet won't be feature complete this year isn't a surprise. Anyone with half a brain who's been following development could see that. What's VERY concerning is ED's need to slap a feature complete label on it this year. Claiming victory they can then move on other products (seemingly Viper being one of them), and leave the dev team on the Hornet even smaller than it is now. What kind of priority will Hornet get when 'out of EA'? The concern is, those 27 items will get very little attention in 2021. The goal posts will get pushed back again. Although we don't need to assume it now. It's just been admitted. No mention of TGT DATA page and MIDS Voice in your list.
-
So what qualifies as 'Out of Early Access'? Because it's certainly not feature complete based on that list. Wags, that's a very long list of important items to be done 'sometime in 2021'. It does not leave the Hornet complete by the end of the year. Which many were assumed the 'out of early access' label meant. If a grown up discussion needs to take place about features vs. manpower this year then fine. As long as the goal posts don't change again. (Data card / INS simulation / HARM pre-brief / GBU-32 should all move up the list - own opinion)
-
A10C was feature complete and 'released' within about 5 months. No new systems/weapons were added during that time, apart from tweaks. As far as I recall. It was essentially complete, functionality wise, at release.

Yeah, ACLS glideslope doesn’t work anymore. Max scale fly down at all times. Hopefully quick fix.
-
With the latest OB, the RIO white flood interior light seems to be not working again. Wasn't this fixed recently? Thanks.

Running request - Bindable Button / Axis options
AvroLanc replied to maverickturner's topic in Bugs and Problems
Or rather an increase/decrease. The DDD range is individual push buttons. You’re thinking of the TID range knob. They can be adjusted separate as RIO. Although as pilot you’d want them in sync most likely. (As it is ATM). -
It doesn’t exist in the Hornet. I’d rather they spend the time implementing the HUD symbology that does exist. Anyway, it’s been discussed to death already.
-
As per real life, JDAM should always have a 800ms delay from pickle consent to actual weapon release. It was even acknowledge by Wags in one of his first JDAM videos, but JDAM release is still instant. Could this be changed? Detail details.....been bugging me since forever. Also, there should be a minimum of 300ms between JDAMs in quantity release.

It's part of the HARM PULLBACK mode that isn't yet implemented. HARM OVERRIDE will prevent the PULLBACK (automatic selection) to SP mode for a quick defensive shot.
