    Game Engines!

Excellent video. Sure there is a contrast 'issue'. Just look at the sky and also the contrast between ground and forests. For the rest, DCS terrain is well populated and thinking of the time it would have taken, I take my hat off to the devs.
  2. Just found this... Have a nice day Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic is a jet air-combat game set in hypothetical Cold War Soviet invasion of Iceland. The player flyable aircraft include F-14 Tomcat and A-7 Corsair II. The campaign is set in 1979 hypothetical "Cold War gone Hot" scenario - what if the Soviet Union had decided to invade West Germany in 1979? The key to Soviet victory in Europe rests in the capture of Iceland and its vital strategic US base located there. With the Soviet in control of Iceland, the NATO forces would not be able to contain the Soviet Northern Fleet, and the American reinforcement fleets would not be able to reach Europe. Join the US Navy and USS Nimitz Carrier Battle Group sent to reinforce the Iceland defense, protect the carrier from Soviet long-range bombers, and strike the Kiev battle group of the Soviet Northern Fleet! The game is designed for Windows 7/Vista and DX10 capable video card. It can be merged with other games in the series (Strike Fighters 2, Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam, Strike Fighters 2 Europe, and Strike Fighters 2 Israel) for additional aircraft, maps, missions, and campaigns. WARNING: This game does not work on Windows XP or on DX9-class video cards! You must have Windows Vista or later, and a DX10-class video card (nVidia GeForce 8-series or better, or AMD HD2000 or better)
  3. :idea:If I say I stop breathing till DCS F/A-18 is released, do we have a chance? :shocking::eek:
  4. This version is unavailable in my country (Belgium). Silly, isn't it? I'll try via a proxy. Thx.

  7. The pricetag is limitative. The sim may stay accessible. Not in term of complexity but in term of price. I've read there is much core fans able to spend 500$ to play a sim. OK, good for you. Now, I've a familly, a full time job and not the time I wish to play. I've spent so much in PC and peripherals (just read my sig), I don't think I would spend 500$ more to play a game (OK, it's a hardcore sim but for us it is ALSO a game), even if it's the best sim of the world. And you know what? 1 or 2 years later the release of the 500$ sim, another one will come, even better, even eye-candier,... and why not also at 500$? OK, I've spent 330$ for a HOTAS Warthog. But I'm sure (I hope) I will use it the next decade or more. The sim market is a tiny one. I thanks ED for the great quality of their sims but I don't want to see this market disapear because of 'inaffordability' of the sims regarding the 'restricted' mass of consumer. Just keep it as it is. Now, if a dev want to devellop and sell a 500$ or more sim, I'll not buy it. For sure.
  8. No update until may? OK. Thanks for the info. Maybe the announcement of the release? (Just trolling, don't shoot I surrender)
  9. Come on, ED. The site (f-18c.com) expires on 21 March 12.

  11. And just for fun... Wooops
  12. I'm lost, I know that Nevada map is currently under developpement. I know the rumors saying that there is a new graphic engine (EDGE) under developpement but does anyone knows: 1) What exactly is EDGE? 2) Is that engine compliant with existing terrains or do they need modification or re-building. 3) Will Nevada map be released under the new engine? EDIT: sorry, forgot to google out before posting. Answer for question 3. Still expecting an answer to #1 and 2.
  13. I would say that the ESSENTIAL ingredient for an eventual DCS-super bug is: 1) The Super Bug The other ressources could be added in any/every module and yes, that should be nice but very large amount of work ahead. //dream mode off//
  14. Why argue? Those who does not want to play DCS-M won't probablt not buy it and the other will. For those who want a modern aircraft, just wait playing DCS-W For those who want to be constructive... For those about to rock,... (we salute you) ;)
  15. Will DCS-M be released in pre-version (beta) like DCS-W was? The idea is: if you have time to build an updated engine or architecture but not certain if that works on every config, you could have a 'test bed' with customer's plateform, and the community could help in identifying where problems are. (But the customer should be warned that he's buying a beta product, as you did with DCS-W. thinking now that Nevada map should not be that far away:)) To modo's: If this question has an answer, you could close the thread and add it (eventually) in the FAQ. :pilotfly:
  16. :megalol:
  17. Two different teams is a possible way to paralellize the developpements. Don't you think?
  18. I'm quite sure this question will not be answered soon but: DCS A-10c and DCS Black Shark were delivered with missions, campaigns, enemies to kill,... the aircrafts the player fly are placed in context. (I think it's quite mandatory to fly without get bored after 10hrs 'cargo flights' missions) So the question is: - Will the product be shipped with a contextualisation, missions, campaign,... or will the P-51d be just dropped in the DCS environnement without anything else? Thanks for the answer... or not;)
  19. Ok now there are only 2 lacks: 1) A teaser/trailer from Glowing AMRAAM 2) A sub-forum for DCS P-51D Mustang because here, it becomes really hard to read. For the rest, just wait and see. Keep going ED.
  20. Nice work. Sounds exciting but I have questions: 1) Will P-51D be intergrated into the DCS world with scenario, missions, campaign along with other AI WW2 airplanes or will the P-51D will just be dropped into DCS world without anything else? 2) Is it coming with a new graphic engine or a modernisation in the core of the engine (multithreading, Dx11 support,...), up to make our 'Nasa style' multi CPU & GPU more profitable? 3) Screenshots are beautiful, Thanks Wags and ED.
  21. Roads are populated, why not the bases? Why not ground crew? OK, AI, pathfinding, logics,... I know it is barely do'able because we should need a NASA computer to run the sim but. Well, just dreaming. Maybe for DCS-F35 in 2024;)

    So far away:cry:
  23. +1 finding the DCS Colours wrong. edit: Thinking about it, I believe the world could be more 'alive' or immersive with a bit less 'washed out' or more contrasted palette. (My 2Cts)
  24. It recall me another EPIC vid: From Humanvegetable... Hilarious
  25. You can also download the full 1.1.1.1 version, uninstall your version 1.0.0.9 and install the latest one. Your Validation code should (will) work.
