[KNOWN ISSUE] Graphic artifact
Cedaway replied to cichlidfan's topic in Video Corruption and Related Card Issues
Hello, is there changes in the graphic engine? I ask that because I use to have some glitches with the sun in DCS A10c and here, in DCS world, the sun texture and the 'shining' appears correctly. I also have flickering in DCS A10 when the sun disappear behind the clouds and in DCS World, all is correct. I don't know what you have done but now it's perfect. I just wanted to thank you, ED. (Other possibility: you've done nothing to the graphic engine and my rig perform better and I don't know why... but the quality is there!) -
I missed that. That was interesting to read and to see. Thank you and good continuation :-) Edit: No offense but Belgian beer is the best ;-)

Mustang First Take-Off and Landing: Post your Tracks/Vids
Cedaway replied to 159th_Viper's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
First attempt => flames in a crater. And so the second and third one. Damn! I may try with rudder assist. Errr, no. I'll improve to get better. And the best I can get, the biggest the crater will be ;-) (Off topic but I've just seen the vids in the 'dogfight' thread and I really think there is one lack: the vapor trails from the edges of the wings at High-G / high AoA) -
In the first thread of this sub-forum, Wags has written: "DCS World will be updated as DCS evolves with changes to the rendering system,...". So, will it be possible to switch between new terrain engine coming with Nevada terrain and old engine with 'Crimea'?

I was going from youtube vid to vid and I noticed that... Look how the F-16 wing flexes at 39sec...

Nothing new in here but just the want to share for those who have not already read it elsewhere... http://www.ausairpower.net/API-Metz-Interview.html Title: JUST HOW GOOD IS THE F-22 RAPTOR? Carlo Kopp interviews F-22 Chief Test Pilot, Paul Metz Very instructive (and long) interview... See for yourself

You're not only an idiot. Now, you're legend also... ;)

Wow, flying this bee can only lead to 1 crater and some fumes! (edit: this little yellow 'thing' recalls me a sentence I've heard once: 'F*** a duck and try to fly'. Well, it sounds like this is what this guy did!)

Each aircraft development is an increasing gap of $$$. Maybe they try to fulfill the requirement of a 'new' aircraft with an 'already' produced and well known aircraft (assuming the F-35 will be released before 2028 ;--) The logistic chain is also vital during operations. With the F-35, this chain would be shared by USAF, USN and USMC. On the other hand, I think it's sad that a whole air component has only 1 type of aircraft to operate increasing variety of missions (CAS, air defense,...) Ok, there are other 'specialized' aircrafts such as the F-22 for the air dominance but in which case the US will engage this aircraft? They wouldn't send the Raptor in Lybia because they were afraid to loose one. Why? Because the cost of this aircraft is prohibitive and there are so many secret technology in it: stealth coating, softwares, hardwares, engines,... Assuming that, I understand the US gov. want to take the advantages of a lightweight multirole fighter like the F-35. (But there is also very hi-tech in it, and the dev & prod prices are increasing each fiscal year so...) The great advantages of the A10 are known by all of us, DCS A10c pilots: slow speed, highly manoeuvrable at that speed, high payload, great autonomy, great range,... So the question is: does the F-35 can do better? at greater range? with an higher payload? I think both aircraft have advantages and inconvenients. The goal is to fit with the 'CAS' role. And what will be the 'needs' in 2028? What will be the 'doctrine' (ROE, theatre,...)? (Maybe it's not very clear, non english native, but well it's my opinion and we're here to share ours ;-)

is PCIe 3.0 a worthwhile platform upgrade?

F-22? So modern! You take off, spot enemies on your radar, Identify, lock, engage, fire and forget - splash - RTB. THAT's a video game! And limited (JDAM & Small Diameter Bombs) A2G capabilities. F-22? No thanks. (And by the way it's waaaayyy too secret to be modelized with DCS fidelity) So you can pay 100$ for a F-22 sim but... Don't think it'll be top notch. -

My opinion (which doesn't count) is that ED has a great ideas, a well planned developmental road but a lack of programmer-funds-time... (choose any). I believe ED is programming the ideas they've had long time before only now because of lack of time. So it is, to develop 1 game/sim like FC3 is complicated. To dev a game/sim like FC3 + DCS P-51 + DCS (next US fixed...) + the improvements in DCS graphic engine (EDGE) + integrate all that in a newly-designed 'core-based-system' (+ eventually official governmental projects) might be time/energy consuming and can be achieved only by fully dedicated programmers. All that, I can understand. But, can we have just few screenshots of EDGE Nevada terrain / effects, a short vid of the P-51, combined arms (...), instead of words, please ED? An image talks more than hundred words. (yeah, yeah, I know: from Wags '... not until May...'. But it costs nothing to try ;-)
