  1. I use an AMD HD5870. After having some problem with in DCS A-10c, I've looked over the forum and I've noticed there are some recurrent problems with AMD cards (Drivers in cause). Just do a quick search in the forum... I personnaly advise Nvidia because AMD cards seems to have drivers issues with DCS.
  2. ... The next DCS Jet This DCS jet aircraft is still in its early stages and a lot can still change, even the aircraft itself.... I'm confused and a bit disappointed. I understand that you don't want to communicate over it. If you don't even know what aircraft to model... ;-) Ok, wait and see. For the rest, I'll continue to enjoy DCS A10c and wait for the upcoming Nevada-EGDE and then the next 'modern US fixed wing'. Edit: The core-based system is a great plus. Thanks:thumbup:
  3. I5 2500K is already very powerful and has much room for OC. (With a good fan) BTW, good choice thinking about Nvidia GPU. Avoid ATI for DCS. (I know that by experience...)
  4. Off topic but well, still very impressive:
  5. Ok, maybe the poll may be renamed in 'priority invest' or 'What is the first sim you want to see in your HDD'. I voted for the DCS 'modern fighter' but I'll probably buy DCS P51 also. Just for the pleasure to learn to fly that bird.
  6. Sorry, did a quick search before posting but maybe not with full attention. If a modo wants to erase, feel free...
  7. Jane's Advanced Strike Fighters OH Lord, remember when the logo 'Jane's' on the box of a PC sim was the guaranty of hardcore and satisfactory experience. Now, there is this:
  8. Oh nooooo, please ED, focus on Nevada terrain and modern fixed w... err, hum... Nice one.
  9. Great vid. I know that the cam used don't catch the colors like it actually is but those colors are vivids and warm comparing those in DCS. (OK, already argued, don't shoot)
  10. Ok but the line below states 390$ => 380€... Seems like an error. And what taxes? Each country in Europe has different tax rate. (Ex. France has 19,6%, Belgium 21%, Germany 19%,...) Generally, when speaking about PC products and games, 1$ = 1€ (also called Valve/Steam conversion rate:laugh:) Actually, I've checked a bit and the GTX680 is currently available at around 500€ to 600€ depending on the chosen version. (Edit: Comme c'est étrange, un belge qui parle à un français de taxes européennes sur un forum russe consulté par des anglophones. Mondialisation?)
  11. (Press the 'spoiler' button in his signature... And cry)
  12. Can anyone explain me HOW 550$ BECOMES 600€? I really think that we, europeans, are screwed! Or maybe a typo error...
  13. I'm interested in buying a 680. Can you check if you notice a difference in framerate coming from the 5870? Thanks
  14. So if I understand well, for the same game, we'll have 2 graphic engines? E.g: if I want to fly above Caucasus, it will switch to the old gfx engine and if I want to fly above Nevada => EDGE. So it's not only a new gfx engine if devs have to rework all. I understand it could be a huge amount of time to re-draw, re-map the current map. But my basis question was: Will EDGE correct issues with ATI's GPU? I believe devs will polish up their product before the release. And it's not a bad idea to make it Dx11, for the improvement it brings in term of multi-threaded handelings. The Dx11 GPU market is now mature and the community may be prepared and equipped. It could be interesting to do a poll to number the percentage of people having a Dx11 GPU vs Dx10 or 9. Edit: and yes, I've seen the pictures in the announcements. It looks beautiful. Now, patience. The countdown has not yes started for a release. To the devs => you rocks, continue that way and enhance our perception/immersion in virtual flying. (And if you can keep us informed, it's a plus )
  15. The screenshots above are beautiful but what about the framerate? With X-plane 9, I was unable to max the setting without the fear of my GPU to meltdown...
  16. Microprose F-117
  17. Try Lshift + J before take-off and see the difference ;-)
  18. Goon3r: For the flickering issue, I've posted today this thread. It seems like GPU driver/graphic engine issue.
  19. Ok, I know that 'Wags' said there will be no news until May but... Does someone from the dev team can press the 'PrtScrn' button once and post the result? Just to see if that key does the job. Only once, just for a monthly fix.
  20. ... Answer: 42 Er, sorry. Good questions I've forgotten to ask. Hope having an answer.
  21. Totally agree with the starting postulate. Please ED, bring some life in the sim. Bring a soul to our career. Thanks
  22. I was looking after a solution about an issue I have with my HD radeon 5870 (flickering) (related to this thread) and I've found this thread where a dev reply by email to a simmer this: "In sum, I don't recommend AMD/ATI graphics solutions for titles build on old graphics engines like ours. Although we have tweaked and improved our graphics engine greatly to meet most of modern standards, as I told in the beginning, the changes necessary for correct work with the latest graphics drivers fr om AMD/ATI are too big." So my question is : Does the new terrain / graphic engine will correct the issues / glitches or is it still based on the 'old-but-amped' engine? I post this here because I don't know where else since it's a real wish to be able to run DCS sims on my computer without spend money for a new GPU (Nvidia this time ;-) ). Thanks for reading and replying.
  23. Do you (everyone) know the documentary 'Jetstream'? It's 8x45min. documentary about the CF-18 pilots. I found this very interesting. I let you discover => follow the white rabbit
  24. Idea: Do you think it is possible to add a 'RWR' threat page with the symbology, distances of danger zone according to the threat, CMPS settings,... ? Edit: BTW, great app. Thanks.
