I initially felt that there might be an Issue with the flaps or drag. I read where some say that it is reported but is it acknowledged by ed and belsimtec? Thread?

Hornet is a different breed altogether. I had issues until I understood what I was doing wrong. I have checked off (I sadly log what I do) over 100 airfield landings and have yet to try a carrier recovery. When you settle in on the downwind leg you no longer care about airspeed. Just focus on the E bracket. As you roll wings level you should already be bringing gear and flaps down and throttling up to nearly mil power, if not you are already well behind the power curve. It is call a "power approach" for a reason.

Throttle issue: 10% after idle position is a deadzone
mjolner replied to kresh's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
This had me stumped. Fingerlifts, got it, now. -
Yes more correctly I should have stated that there is no need to "manual" trim in normal flight.
-
You will get plenty of manual trim response in landing config, ie. gear and flaps down. Hornet has trim it is not used in a normal flight regime. I highly recommend you use manual trim to achieve on speed level flight when on approach. The amount of trim will depend on stores and fuel remaining.

Printable A5 checklist available, if anyone is interested.

Quite useful, appreciate the effort, thank you. -
I must say I was skeptical early on about the EA release. I have been tired of paying good money for unfinished products. The Hornet exceeds expectations and it is still a work in progress which only brings great anticipation for further updates and patches. I have not been this exited about a flight sim product since the early days pf Flanker. Well Done ED and Belsim, the properly modeled Meatball alone has earned my ( hard earned cash ). A very long-term, thankful and humble customer.

Well it is good but it is no "Anchors Aweigh", I am a Navy man myself.

F/A-18 Case I Carrier Recovery Tutorial
mjolner replied to Jabbers_'s topic in Screenshots and Videos
Great video. I am very anxious to see how visible the meatball will be in game. Tried this in P3D and FSX and the meatball was useless for my eyes, then again I am just about blind so I am probably screwed. -
Great mod thanks!!

You are a bit young yet and I know you mentioned wanting to be a doctor but have you ever thought of joining the military. After spending 23 years active duty myself I can say it was the best decision I ever made. Even with deployment, raising kids, etc., over the years I have been able to enjoy flight sims and in my younger days I had plenty of petty cash for PC gear, it can be done. I am not sure where you live but in the US, even joining without a college degree, with hard work you can become a pilot if you desire. Why not fly the real thing. Man if I knew then what I know now! Good luck young man.

Hey Colyoap, Bunyap Sims has a great playlist on Youtube of the Red Flag campaign, might be of use to you. I found it very informative. I have yet to fly Red Flag myself, still on my to-do list.

If you have the TM Warthog configured correctly with no assignment conflicts you should have no problems starting the engines per the documentation, ie. advancing the throttles from the detents. Anything else and you have some kind of conflict with your controller assignments and seems to me that a complete re-configure from default is in order.

Yes I am mistaken it was indeed a MIG-17. Sorry for the wasted thread. Thanks Art-J.

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, did'nt find anything on cursory search. Every fathers day we head to the Olympic Airshow in Washington state and a usual sight is a Mig-15 that I believe is part of the museum collection. Probably not all original. Anyway, when I first saw it fly I was impressed by the clearly visible jet of flame from the exhaust nozzle. Just curious as to why it is not present in the Belsimtek variant? Or am I just witnessing an effect added for airshow wow factor? Would be just a warm fuzzy to see that in external view. Or even from the Cockpit of the F-86 as the Mig zooms by.

Before messing with any LUA settings, I would really ensure that you are not having other issues. For instance, make sure that all settings are default for your axis and sensitivities. I say again " Default ". Also ensure that on the windows driver side of things that they are set to default including your mouse settings. No offense, but this sim has a very user friendly and expansive interface, figure that out first before you mess with config files. I have been using this sim for years with all manner of hardware and have never experienced the problems you are describing. 99% of the adjustments you will ever need can be made without ever messing with LUA settings. I am not trying to downplay your issue. Usually there are simple solutions to try prior to exhorting to config changes that can sometimes only make things worse.

Did'nt F-111s invent tank-plinking in the first gulf-war by decimating Iraqi main-battle tanks with GBU-12s. Same bomb in essence as the GBU-38 right? Why the hell would you hull down a tank on the modern battle-field. Someone educate me. Although, I suppose the iraq's did'nt bury any T-72 so probably alot of those tanks ( over 900 destroyed by air power ) were most T-55 or less.

This thread was a great read. Thanks for all who provided. This is why I dont post much, too busy reading and taking it all in.

Hold the stick all the way aft.

Also dont force the nose down too early allow the the speed to bleed off against the ground effect and let the nose down on its own, more effective than wheelbrakes alone. This of course assumes that your speed over the threshhold is below 120 depending on load out.

The work of Bunyap Sims is also worth a look: https://www.youtube.com/user/4023446

Recommend using RCNTRL + ENTER to bring up the axis display, this will help you evaluate if you have an axis mapping conflict and it is just a very usefull feature to help visualize what your control surfaces and your controller(s) are doing. In regards to the Frog, during take off be very light on the nose wheel, particularly with a heavy loadout she can be a bear if you over correct. I do agree with others that if its gettin too squirley, sounds like it might a be control conflict.

I think Dirty Rotten was just using the BF109 as an example.... But anyway, with this quite extensive and advanced Sim in terms of cockpit view options there is more than one way to skin a cat. I honestly dont think that such a feature as the OP requests is really needed when the ability to move the center point of view to any which way you desire already exists. I myself have mapped view up, down, left and right to an unused 4way on the TM Warthog.

Flying the DCS Dora is truly a new experience in flight simming. The subtlies of the flight model are impressive to say the least. The Dora is a pleasure to fly and it gives me chills to image all of my favorite warbirds modelled the DCS way. Thanks ED! I know the D9 fits the upcoming "1944" time frame but I sure would love to a DCS FW190 A series. Even the A1 with 4 MG17 and two MG FF/Ms. I have the excellent classic hangars A1 for FSX and I just love the throaty radial sound and low tech feel. Its like flying a machine that still has its roots in the fighters of WWI. In any case, I wait with anticipation for 1944.
