NICE! Working tracks+Fraps equals endless fun. Watch out Spielberg...
-
I'd say; "take your time and get it right" but that should probably be amended to; "take your time and get it righter" This is seriously the coolest piece of software ever created!

My understanding (which is very limited), is that the tracks are not recorded replays but instead the computer replaying the mission with a saved set of control inputs. So when a track goes haywire it's probably because of a small difference in AI reaction or the slightest difference in control inputs. This seems to snowball and you get a sort of butterfly effect. Hence longer tracks seem to get really goofy towards the end. I would recommend you check out FRAPS, I've had some great fun with it in the sim

making active CAS calls by triggers
SmokeyTheLung replied to jeffyd123's topic in User Created Missions General
jeffyd, I like where your head is at, will try when I get back home. -
I spend a fair amount of effort while flying attempting to correlate the world I see outside of the glass with the moving map (actually not moving, I use the EXP modes a lot). That way I can do exactly what your describing, and not put the jet in harms way just to get the pod on target, The steps I use; On UFC: hit "FUNC" than "8" (puts the CDU in Mark mode) Set TAD as SOI (Coolie hat left long [unless tad is on right MFCD]) Create mark point: (TMS right short over area of interest [i've always had to use a long press, but this is according to the manual]) Set HUD as SOI (Coolie hat up, short) Cycle mark points (DMS up/down) Slave pod to Mark point (China hat aft long) Good luck finding targets! This method is more challenging than lining up the TGP using the HUD, but a lot less risky

If things are screwed up because of a prepare mission conflict (i.e. the mission maker "prepared" the mission, then changed the weapons load-out) the only way to get weapons to work will involve replacing the unit in question in the editor. IIRC switching the load-out back to the one used during the "prepare mission" won't even do the trick. However, WarriorX probably knows better than I, best to try his method first

ˆˆˆˆˆˆ what he said... man I'm tired

Steam or regular download? Chances are you won't need to patch anything... until 1.1.0.8

Fair point, but think about it this way; Your $XXXX will encourage ED to make more DLC. Which equals more fun for us... Very few things in life are free, and I think that any reasonable gamer can see the great entertainment value that these products provide. ED deserves to be rewarded for their efforts as much as the rest of us.

Ground power defineitly has a few bugs left to iron out. I still use it though, but I don't disconect untill both engines are ready to give me AC power. That way I can start my INS align and CICU etc. In the most efficent manner

As GGTharos correctly stated, "cover" is a most important variable for danger close drops. The other big factor, that's probably not modeled in the sim, is the direction that the bomb is dropped from. Unless a bomb comes in at 90 degrees, (assuming no airburst fuse) its frag cone is going to point in a certain direction

just to reiterate what Ptroinks has said, find the controls listed as HOTAS and get those mapped to your stick/throttle or commit the key commands to memory. The rest can be done with the mouse (a track IR will come in very handy) H.O.T.A.S=Hands on throttle and stick. Those are the controls that the real pilots need at their fingertips, so prob a good place to start

Through some testing, it would seem that the HOF and RPM functions (in the sim) do the same thing. Higher RPM with the default HOF gives the same result as higher HOF with the default RPM, as far as I can tell. If you max out both those values, be prepared for quite a bit of spread!

Unfortunately given the nature of apartment living, I'm afraid house guests are out of the question. Unless you guys want to share the bathtub :) That being said I'd be happy to show you around ;)

How long did it take you to learn the A10?
SmokeyTheLung replied to Flacracker's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
6 months and counting... -
Good stuff man, there is so much to learn with the CDU Looking forward to flying with you in the 1st (I go by Rabbit over there). I'd still love to test some of those missions out that you've got cooking:music_whistling: I spend about half of my time in DCS in the editor, so I've got at least a few questions for ya:)

I can be patient. But I'm cursing myself for deleting that install! %^&%$$#@!$!!!!! If you can find a way, I'll owe you one! ;)
-
I, like a technologically inept fool, deleted my beta 2 install. If there is another way to get it I would love to. Please let me know, I miss that map!
-
luckybob9, this looks fantastic! very nice work indeed. I know you've done a little tutorial work, but I can't seem to fins any of your videos. If you're feeling generous send a link my way. NICE WORK, CAN'T WAIT!!! (but will patiently)

check out the 1st VFW, recruiting is reopening this weekend (last I checked)

Using a spawn explosion, or explode unit trigger one can create a giant fireball and equally large crater. Check the trigger logic in that mission, that could be the cause

I should buy some lottery tickets, because I never seem to get these random failures. Can some one explain what the bird strike slider does in the options menu? I thought that was for random failures
-
You could use the HSI (search the manual, the one I have is out of date [page 111 for me]) or likewise use the heading tape located in your HUD

Question about Controlls Setings. Sim or Game?
SmokeyTheLung replied to gharness84's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
depends whether you intend to play in sim or game mode. I recommend sim mode ;) -
I can relate, the process of getting online with the sim can be a little daunting. Dont let it discourage you though! Join up with the 1st Vfw (google search it) or any number of other squads. After a little bit of work getting yourself intoduced and up to speed, you will have no problems finding a group to fly with. I have to check with some of the senior guys but I'm pretty sure you can join as a guest to get the lay of the land. I'll pm you when I find out. Edit: thought it worth noting; if you do intend to join the 1st, be prepared to do some work getting the procedures of the 1st down to memory. A lot of great and helpful guys over there but you'll be expected to know your stuff
