Got it, thank you! Must have been a coincidence then, as I was just following the lead through the waypoints, with enough fuel left. I think tanker was within 10 nm, that might have been it

Hi, I’ve been shot down by the F16s in the mission. Now upon RTB, I get the message to refuel and once done, rejoin flight lead and press space. I refuelled up to around 6000 lbs, then tried to join flight lead (who were formation flying with the tanker as well) and press space. However, nothing happened. Kept flying with them for a while, but I could not get the mission to proceed and for the flight lead to RTB. I did take quite some time to refuel, so the text was gone by the time I finished. Could that have been the issue? Or I am supposed to refuel to full tank? Great fun this campaign!

I had the same issue, SteamVR crashing after short amount of time. Updated to Beta of Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR, and it works again! Thank you for providing the solution!

I think he meant the automatic throttle control. Personally I don’t use it for recoveries unless it’s an automated carrier landing. minor correction, I believe it’s 280 knots where you open the wings and 250 where you lower the landing gear. it definitely takes lots of practice. Flying in landing configuration without actually landing is a great practice as mentioned above. Dirtying up and cleaning up the plane while trimming for AOA and trying to keep level. with regards to throttle control compared to the hornet, the response time is going to be longer so you have to anticipate more in case of the F14. have fun with it!

Great to know, thank you! Looking forward to Speed and Angels

solved Stutters and jitters in VR with RTX 4080 and 5800X3D

So I tried without any input devices connected as well, and I was still having the issue even with the throttle disconnected. I went into Simappro, settings, and unticked a box that was talking about exporting into lua file. I don’t really know much about lua files or what it does, but the difference was immediately noticeable. maybe someone can point you in the direction in case you don’t have the software installed, how to disable winwing interfering with that lua file? -
Hi, Upon completion of the training, I was low on fuel and wanted to refuel. I was squadron leader. I wanted to send 1 and 2 to return to base while 3 and 4 refuels. I tried to communicate that on different frequencies but did not receive any response and 1 and 2 stayed with me. I wonder if I was not able to communicate with them because we were tuned to different frequencies? This was after checking out on Channel 1 and 14. looking at the NATOPS it says that communication within the squadron was mostly done using hand signals. I have been wondering about the logistics of communicating with wingmen. After leaving the range, what frequency would the squadron normally be tuned to to allow communication like that? Or would it be done by hand gestures? How fun would it be if we had hand gesture communication with the pilot body imitating!

Could you point me in the direction what it means to delete the lines from the export lua? I was able to figure out the app portion of it, don’t know much about export lua -
AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?

Edmuss, thanks a lot! You've got it. I disabled the winwing exports in Simappro and that made all the difference. Just had my first landing in the F14 where flying over the ship it wasn't stuttering. The hook switch didn't stutter as I employed it. Feels like a complete new game. Even on the carrier I don't get the stuttering. I might need to replay Zone 5 campaign now xD That one click in the software made all the difference. Now CPU times are around 8-10 ms (from 15-20 ms). It's in the green for the first time. FPS is stable at 45. It should probably come as part of the throttle package information as other people might be struggling with the same issue. Might email Winwing about it. Thanks again, happy new year! -

Thank you for everyone's input, what a great community! It turns out the Winwing throttle and software were causing the issue. I've been suggested to turn off the 'export lua' in the software Simappro. So I did. The results are phenomenal. Just had my first landing in the F14 where flying the overhead break the ship wasn't stuttering. The hook switch didn't stutter as I employed it. Feels like a complete new game. Thank you for the tips! Unfortunately I cannot use OpenXR as I need to have SteamVR as my runtime for the purposes of my motion sim. Until OpenXR has a usable motion compensation tool (which is different from reprojection or smoothing), I’ll have to find a way to get results using SteamVr i also have MSAA 2x and anisotropic filtering at 16x and textured medium to high, I don’t think my bottleneck is the GPU as frametimes are stable. I think something is going on with the CPU that causes the stutters specifically in aircraft with lots of systems (F14). But I’m also no expert so it’s just my biased opinion at this stage -

So running windows 11 now, no alienware software interfering, power option is set to best performance. Issue still persists. Looking at FPSVR, even 20 ms frametime for CPU should not be causing issues since I'm using Motion smoothing and it runs at 45 FPS. What I do notice is that even though the CPU frametime is showing 15-20 ms, there are lots of red lines among the orange lines in the graph for the CPU. I don't know how to interpret this and if that could be the cause of my issue -

I’ll start with installing windows 11 as the power options on my windows 10 seem to be corrupted and would need a reinstall anyways. Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll report back once everything is up and running I'm on the Stable version of DCS (2.7.18.xxx) I've tried the solution on that page. When I set DCS.exe compatibility to Run as admin, SteamVR crashes everytime I run DCS. The video card setting under NVIDIA control panel was already in effect. Some more testing results: in the P51D, FPSVR shows very few red lines for CPU (11-12 ms). F16 shows more red (15ms-ish), but feels smooth. F14 shows lots of red lines in the graph for CPU, around 16 ms, constant stuttering when I move my head. -
AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
Dentedend10 replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
I’ve just run Cinebench and the CPU is working as expected. However, in game in VR I seem to get more stuttering when CPU frametimes struggle. Unfortunately in the F14 this is constant. Other planes the experience is better. i wonder if there is any other way to unlock more performance on the CPU in game. It’s running at only around 62 degrees, while frametimes can be up to 30 Ms at an airfield in the F14 -

So I’ve tried to access my BIOS options to change some of settings aforementioned. Unfortunately, Dell motherboards limit their BIOS settings quite a bit, so I wasn’t able to change CPU c state, or PBO. Ive just run Cinebench and the CPU is running as expected. in game it seems to be the case that whenever CPU frametimes struggle is when I’m getting the stuttering. Unfortunately, in the F14 this is constant, which is a shame. Seems like I’ll need to wait until CPU performance gets optimized. Weird that others have a smooth experience in the F14 with same CPU though. Other planes as I said are smoother -

Thank you for your response. Now I’ve tried all points in that guide and in the F14 it’s still the same. Frametime of CPU is higher at times (12-25 Ms) with more red, but few dropped frames to none. Stutter is still present -

I’ve done point 2 and 3, I’ll give the first one a try next time. Didn’t really see a difference. went back to Vr Default settings to do some further testing. It almost seems like the CPU is still the bottleneck. Generally 12-14 ms frametime, around carrier goes to 30 ms though. tried to play around with motion smoothening on or off, no difference either. F18 and F16 look better now, F14 is still the worst. frames seem stable at 45 with motion smoothening on. Just wishing those stutters stopped. could it really be the CPU bottleneck? -
AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
Dentedend10 replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
Hi, I have this CPU, although on a Dell motherboard (Alienware prebuilt). I'm getting lots of stuttering within the cockpit, seems like the more complicated the plane, the more stuttering (F14 lots vs P51D none). FPSVR monitoring tells me that normally CPU frametime is around 12-14 ms, while around the carrier it gets up to 30 ms. I've tried all kinds of optimizations to no avail. My best bet is still the CPU causing the stuttering (my GPU frametime is under 10 ms, GPu being always green, while CPU always having orange spikes, and completely red around the carrier). Anyone with similar issues? I'm running DCS stable version. Thanks -
Hi, I've been trying many different things to get some results to no avail. I've upgraded my system. I've gone through multiple optimization pages that I found here on the forum. Yet, anytime I move my head around in the cockpit I get stuttering and it is very much immersion-braking. I seem to get them in the more complicated jets more. P51D looks smooth on the inside. F14 is probably the worst. (Other than those I fly the F18 and F16). Monitoring tells me that GPU is doing fine (around 11 ms frametime), and most of the time so is the CPU (around same frametime, however, less consistent than my GPU). Sometimes I see red and higher frametimes in the CPU section in FPSVR. However, average FPS still says it's around 45 and usually there is few to no dropped frames. Yet, when I look around in the cockpit it always stutters. Recently I went through this optimization: https://vr4dcs.com/2020/12/24/how-to-nail-reverb-setup/ I also reinstalled DirectX11 and forcing it through SteamVR. The only optimization I cannot do on my system is running OpenXR ( I have motion sim and I need to be running SteamVR for motion compensation through SimRacingStudio). Any ideas what else I can try? I was really hoping to get a smooth experience with my recent updates Btw, I am running DCS stable version and Windows 10. Thank you for any suggestions in advance. Merry Chrismtas!

Game crashes when flying Cage the Bear - Cargo

Just tried MiGCAP mission again on Operation Reforger. Completed the mission, freeze on RTB. I guess the reason is still not known then -
Hi, I’ve always had this issue and am wondering if this is something that is going to get implemented. The Hornet has great haptic feedback on the controllers when interacting with the cockpit. I am really missing that in the F14 cockpit. Any news is appreciated

Does DLSS work in VR then? I’ve seen sources where they claim it doesn’t. If it does, I’d be curious to see DLSS 3 in action

Interesting! Which headset are you using mostly? I have the G2 and was hoping the Varjo Aero would provide significant increase in quality of image (I'm not necessarily looking for performance boost) due to the foveated rendering, at least in the future when software implementation also occurs. Currently I'm holding off until I see a headset with foveated rendering, without base stations, and with controllers, that's also focused on gaming rather than business use

I don’t see it would track the eyes, will it? I would want a headset with foveated rendering for the future, even if DCS doesn’t currently support it
