  1. Absolutely, an option might be to go into your input folder and just copy the files from a current aircraft of similar style. and put it into a folder of your making. Then rename the files like "Basic_Rudder_input.lua" , "Basic_throttle_input.lua" or "Basic_Flight_Stick.lua" Keep in mind, every Input device uses it's own file, Joystick, Rudder, Throttle, Keyboard, Mouse. Unless that has changed in the last few months. Then whenever you get a new plane you can load those files up with the basic controls and start modifying. On a side note, I keep an up to date, back up copy of all my input settings for each aircraft, just incase there is some issue and I need to re-install the game. I believe the correct path for the input file folder is this one: C:\Users\Your User Name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\InputUserProfiles
  2. Should look something like this. C:\Users\Your Computer\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\Aircraft\F-22A
  3. I wonder how many F-22's are going to be flying around today, haha.
  4. Yeah fair enough, I tried using my phone camera the first time over wifi with open track it didn't work very well. But with a normal USB web camera, AI track and Opentrack running it works surprisingly well. It did take a bit of work plus a few youtube tutorials to get it working right. I can look around the cockpit easily, push all the buttons. Use the Jester command wheel by moving my head around. Look out my canopy to track targets while turning with no lag. I think buying the "Web Camera" was the item I needed to make it work good. Again I don't think its as good as trackIR. But it was cheap and will hold me over till I buy TrackIR. Anyways cheers and happy flying.
  5. Just a thought. If you have a web camera you can use something like OpenTrack and AI Track combined, to emulate track IR. It also works with the jester menu to choose your commands just by moving your head around. It isn't perfect, but it sure upped my game. I was able to get rid of all the POV switches to look around.
  6. Np, and I would recommend the "OPEN BETA" version. There seems to be a lot more people playing it then the so called stable version.
  7. Not sure if this is the answer you are looking for. I originally bought the A10 module on steam years ago. Just got back into DCS a few weeks ago. I ended up downloading the DCS open beta from the DCS site. Went to steam retrieved my CD key from my steam purchase through the steam library. Then input the steam key into my DCS profile page on their website. There is a box at the bottom left of your profile page, called license check and the plane transferred over successfully.
  8. This one I think.
  9. Just get it. You know you want to!
  10. As a fellow Canadian, I was really hoping you were right lol. I would have bought it on the spot for $150 CDN Pesos.
  11. Doesn't sound normal at all. I haven't seen that happening on my end.
  12. Here is some examples of where you need to install your skins. with proper naming conventions. If you don't have the folders create them. "3900" being the name of your computer. C:\Users\3900X\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\F-16C_50 C:\Users\3900X\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\FA-18C_Hornet C:\Users\3900X\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\M-2000C C:\Users\3900X\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\f-14b Here is a further example with some actual skin folders added. C:\Users\3900X\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\F-16C_50\IAF F16C - 105 Squadron - The Scorpion C:\Users\3900X\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\FA-18C_Hornet\Canada - 409 SQN - Tan C:\Users\3900X\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\M-2000C\M2000 Ile de France Desert Storm v2.2 C:\Users\3900X\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\f-14b\VF-84 Jolly Rogers AJ200 (2000) Basically extract your skin folders to the plane folders that you will have to create. To find the correct naming convention for each plane look in these folders for future reference. The last folder being your reference. C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\F-5E\Liveries\F-5E-3 But do not install the liveries in your main game folder. Also if you are using the stable version of the game as opposed to the open beta version. The folder will be called "DCS World" as opposed to "DCS.openbeta"
  13. Are you sure? I was looking at a Gladiator NXT Premium version earlier today. The price was $150US dollars, plus $45US shipping, plus import fees. So probably closer to $300 Canadian. That is off of the VKBSim North America site.
  14. NP, and like the other poster said it's your money and your game, do whatever makes you happy. One caveat though, if you go multiplayer, you most likely won't see any f18's on a WWII type server. So if you happen to buy, say Normandy and a modern jet. Don't expect to be playing them together online. Cheers,
  15. You can fly your Flaming Cliff, planes on any of the maps. Any plane or Helicopter on any map, basically. Some of the modules are definitely more suited to particular eras. Persian Gulf and/or Syria are great for the more modern fighter jets/Helicopters.
  16. Wow really? It was a joke, lol.. I think your the first person I ever heard of that doesn't like a good deal and likes paying full price for everything If you want to go through life paying full price for house's, car's. games flight gear etc.etc. Well that's your business...Just like my life is my business. Hmm. maybe all you folks coming in and dog piling on me. Did you not see all the other responses in the thread. Why did you not comment on their posts? Hell I didn't even start the thread... You don't know me, you don't know what I have done in life, what I have been through in life. Who the are you to judge, me? You wanna talk respect learn it yourself. Anyways I am moving on, like you, I value my time. I am done here...
  17. Welcome the real world. Why would you pay full price on anything? When you can get it on sale. Do you pay full price for everything you buy, just because? How about all your sim equipment did you not shop sales and try and get it for the cheapest price? I work hard for my peso's. I don't give it away, just because. See where I can go with this. But again this really isn't about module prices with me. I've already alluded to that in my other posts. I think there is some saying about " beating a dead horse" The big thing here is. I WANT TO SEE THE GAME FLOURISH. I want the devs to be rolling in piles of money. So they can make us more modules. Multiplayer in 2021 should not be a niche mode in your game. Theres is literally 100's of millions of potential customers out there. Why would you want to settle for 10K ,20K or however many? No game company strives for mediocrity. Not saying that is the case here.I love their modules. I have honestly, I don't know how many hours, just flying around and practicing take offs and landings. I haven't even tried combat yet.Hell I just figured out how to get aircraft skins into my saved game folder I LOVE THE GAME! Having said that just flying by yourself well, it's always better learning with friends. Maybe there is something to that? Not my place to say, nor does it concern me. Anyways I will go back to crashing now. And remember "The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire." Cheers, stay inverted.
  18. Type Windows 7 Bloatware into your browser and look at the 1.5 million hits lol. Or windows 7 problems or whatever. Look at all the old forum posts. My point is that every single time a new version of Windows is released its the exact same comments. Have you not seen that before. Or is this your first Windows upgrade? And do you not kind of find it humorous? Type in Windows XP sucks I want my old windows version. Same for Vista. It's the same for every new release. That is why I am Chuckling...
  19. Cheers! On a side note I just made my first clean landing in the F16C!!!! One day I will progress to the combat stage of this Flight Sim.
  20. Yup agreed, I do actually get it. After buying some modules and "trying" to learn to fly them, LoL. Which I alluded to, in one of my replies already. And I do enjoy playing this Sim very much. Which is why I want to see it continue to grow. We all know what happens to stagnant companies... On a side note these US$80 modules cost me $100CDn. That's a fair bit of change, not too mention, whatever flight controllers, VR, Ir tracking etc. you folks use in the US pretty much cost me DOUBLE the price with the exchange rate, shipping and duties. So yeah it's an expensive game hobby. But worth it. I was looking at a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog the other day $1300CDN. Ouch!, maybe next Christmas. Now if I could just talk my US gaming friends, into not being so cheap and pick up a module or at least try the base game. /wink...
  21. Do you remember when Win7 came out and everyone was bitching about how crappy it was. You can still find hundreds of posts like "20 Reasons why Windows 7 sucks" HAHA I just find it interesting, every single time Microsoft releases a new Operating system you can find the same posts. If you type Win7 and bloatware into a search engine you will get 1.5Million hits...Same arguments every single Windows upgrade. We should all be used to it by now.
  22. I'm sure there would be an option so you don't have to worry about introducing "Free Loaders" (customers) to the game. I mean hell, when you go and buy a car do you not test drive it. Maybe all dealerships should require everyone to buy their car, to be a passenger in it? Do you tell your friends to give you money every time they get on board? And nobody is asking them to give full access to a module, at least not that I read. Oh and nobody is "TELLING" anyone to do anything. People like you and I are giving our opinions. Guess what our opinions aren't the same...Big deal.
  23. But if they were cheaper people would, guess what, buy more of them. But that isn't what this post is about. That was just an observation as a new player in 2021, from someone that started gaming on a Colecovision. They would sell more. Not sure what you don't understand about that. For some reason, you want a small stagnant population? Companies don't grow, when people don't spend money...The more money a company has, guess what, the more they can spend on those shiny new modules. The devs have families to feed as well and hell maybe they want a shiny new Ferrari themselves. You said it yourself.
  24. Reaching new customers, you didn't know you had, sounds like good business practice to me. I am new to the game. When I saw the price of the modules, I was like woaH...Luckily I came in during the last sale, that helped out a lot. After playing it for a while I understand the prices somewhat. Still not sure if i will spend too much money on full price modules. Player influx is good for business, I have seen too many games die over the years. Would you rather sell one widget at $80 or 10 widgets at 40. Who all have a friend. I looked at the amount of servers when I first came on and was like wow cool. Then I saw the population and was like Oh...Zero people on these 600 servers 1 person on these other 400 servers etc. etc. I have been trying to get some friends interested in the game. When they see the module prices, they basically repeat the price back to me and laugh in the same breath...Now if I could show them some more of the modules like the full on simulated modules. Get them having fun, well who knows. I mean flying around a map with a chopper, full of your friends yelling "get some" would be a blast. And you know, it wouldn't be long before one of them wanted the pilot seat. I could be introducing the newest whale to the game who buys all the modules... On a side note one of the first things I did when seeing the choppers. Was drop into a multiplayer server thinking I could jump into a gunner seat and check out the fun and the Huey. I was disappointed. I still haven't bought the Huey yet. And I probably won't. if I am still around for the Apache release, I might pick that up, or maybe a sale or maybe never...If i can't talk my buddies into playing well that's a different story. I have been gaming with some of these people for 10 years or more. Cheers,
