To ensure your Pimax Crystal headset plays the default sound, you need to configure it within both the Pimax Play software and your operating system. First, within Pimax Play, navigate to device settings and select the headset as the default audio output device. Then, within your operating system's sound settings (e.g., Windows Sound Control Panel), also select the Pimax headset as the default. Here's a more detailed breakdown: Within Pimax Play: Open Pimax Play: Launch the Pimax Play software on your computer. Access Device Settings:Navigate to the Pimax Play settings menu and find the device settings section. Select Headset as Default:Look for the option to set the default audio output device and choose your Pimax Crystal headset. Within Your Operating System (e.g., Windows): Open Sound Control Panel:Search for "Sound" in the Windows search bar and open the Sound Control Panel. Select Pimax Headset: Go to the "Playback" or "Output" tab and choose the Pimax Crystal headset as your default device. Apply Changes: Make sure to save or apply the changes within the sound control panel. By following these steps, you'll ensure that your Pimax Crystal headset is selected as the default audio output device both within Pimax Play and your operating system, guaranteeing that the headset will be used for all sound output, according to ED Forums. if your headset is not powered up or connected to your pc then it won’t get selected by Windows. I am not on my pc at the moment so cannot send a screenshot of the actual location of the default selection I Pimax play. HTH

need track replay F16 RADAR & Data Link Broken
Nuggetz replied to Nuggetz's topic in Bugs and Problems
Having been prompted to clarify if these issues have been resolved the answer is no. As I explained above I have made two unsuccessful attempts to provide a track file. Additionally, there is at least one other thread expressing concern that the data link is broken to which I have added my support. If I can successfully link to a representative track file I will in due course. -
To add my support to the suggestion that the Data Link and radar are broken. It does not happen on every engagement but it does happen all too frequently. Not only is there missing target tracks and there are examples of misdirection ie target is indicated at my 2 o’clock but the target attacks from the 10 o’clock. Two days ago while fighting PvP, DL indicated my opponent was at the 3 o’clock but the RWR was screaming he was on my six. Clearly something has changed and is not right. ED I implore you to believe we are not making this up or incompetent operators of the F16.

need track replay F16 RADAR & Data Link Broken
Nuggetz replied to Nuggetz's topic in Bugs and Problems
I have tried to produce a track file, the first MP file was corrupted and unreadable, the second, a SP version, recorded different events to what was actually flown. In the SP version I engaged 5 x Mig 23 where radar information and DL tracks were not visible or patchy. Missile lethality and reliability was far worse than historically experienced. I landed after 5 victories rearmed and took off with a ground attack weapons but with the aim of shooting down a IL-76 on the way. Again poor radar returns (large target!) even no return within 10 miles switching to dogfight gained a lock and back to missile override to fire 2 x 120C. The SP replay had me shot down while engaging 5 x Mig 23 (which did not happen), thus eliminating the remainder of the mission. Therefore I am at a loss to provide the evidence you require to support shortfalls in radar/DL performance. Furthermore, changes in missile reliability and lethality are now evident in both MP and SP modes. There are definitely changes to the Viper radar/DL tracks vs the historical performance over the last 4+ years and not for the better. I do know other PvP players that have experienced the same sorts of issues, so I know I am not alone with my concerns. Naturally if I can provide a representative track file I will forward it accordingly. -
I have tried to review the track file before forwarding to you, but the file is corrupted and cannot be read. I have just flown a series of sorties on the GS server with no issues so I am unable to send a track file. If nothing else these issues are inconsistent and highly frustrating. I will monitor and the next time I experience issues attempt to forward that track file. regards
-
Thank you both for your replies. I shall investigate the cloud link option, although I am unfamiliar with this, and send the recent track file. I normally use GS and GR servers but I don’t know what mods, if any, are in use on these servers. The issues I have been experiencing happen in MP. Please note two visits ago to the GS server I had a very successful number of sorties albeit with some issues. However, this morning on the GS server I felt like I was fighting with both hands behind my back, while closing my eyes . So not a consistent state of affairs. Once I have looked into the cloud link I will come back to you with the track file requested. Thanks again.

Sorry can you please advise how I can attach a large track file from a MP server series of sorties. As mentioned the issues are in consistent and hence I cannot simply run a quick SP mission to reproduce on demand. Thank you.

If this has already been reported please ignore the following rant. Firstly I love the F16 and the work undertaken by ED. I have enjoyed countless hours in the Viper and fly it almost exclusively. However, since the last couple of updates the radar and DL do not function correctly. For example no targets visible at all on the radar or the target I am fighting disappears for prolonged periods even over the sea ( ie terrain is not the issue). Data Link is also indicating the target is in one direction when in effect it is in a totally different direction. The highlighted DL target (octagon) jumping about all over the place. Additionally even when a target is in visual range the 9X either cannot get a lock or provide a tone. I know I am not alone with these issues as friends who also fly the Viper are experiencing the same sorts of problems. I will concede that these issues are inconsistent and do not follow a standard pattern every flight, but there are issues which require attention. Any F16 drivers also experiencing these issues, can I please ask you to like this post so the breadth and depth of this problem can be indicated to ED. Given I have thousands of hours in the Viper with many thousands of kills it is NOT an operator error, I know the basics. I am delighted to provide a track file but it is likely to be a very large file as I fly in VR on busy MP servers. Please advise how to attach large track files. Without wishing to be rude I am seeking a response beyond “Correct as is” as the levels of frustration and exacerbation are off the scale. Many thanks in anticipation.

I don’t know if anyone else has experienced the following after yesterday’s patch. In cockpit (F16) no steerpoints are available (single player, not sure about MP) all the values of grid co-ords are zero. Checking the ME the routes are still listed but they don’t get transferred to the jet on multiple maps. Possible bug?

DCS & Pimax Crystal Light Constant Freezing and Crashing
Nuggetz replied to pimp's topic in Game Crash
Have you checked all your USBs and HID in device manager to check that Windows is not switching power off to the USB? Often happens after a Windows update and the first thing I check if a problem arises. HTH -
I am not sure which of the many tweaks I have done but I now have the loud engine/afterburner sounds restored. That said if SimApp Pro is not active in the background it reduces the sound noticeably. Subject closed.
-
I have recently replaced my PC specs below. Obviously installed all the necessary software etc. However, I note that the loud afterburner sound is missing on the ground or in the air at all speeds. The box is ticked in audio and I have run the long repair, no joy. I even installed the ECHO19 F16 sound mod, no difference. I did try switching off the butt kicker to see if there was a conflict but again no difference. It is possible to hear the change in engine speed ie spoiling up and F2 I hear the Afterburner, but not in the cockpit. I note back 2020 a similar issue arose for a number of players and a sound file was provided as a temporary fix. I have downloaded this file and installed in Saved Games as per directions but that didn’t work either. Can you help please?

I have the 9800X3D and i’m impressed.
Nuggetz replied to r_vandenbroek's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I decided to give myself an early Xmas present and purchased a new PC which I received Friday evening and have spent the weekend downloading software. Details of the PC etc below. It is early days but with all DCS settings set to on/max (with a couple of minor exceptions, which I don’t like on) and the Crystal set to 100% resolution and Quality, I am so impressed with the picture quality and performance on either MP or SP. FPS is set to 72 so cannot comment on the other refresh rates yet, but then again I am very happy with my experiences so far. -
Eye Tracking is no longer working on OG Crystal.
Nuggetz replied to British_Dragon_14's topic in Pimax
I don’t know why but I also experienced problems with eye tracking dropping out. The fix that worked for me was not to plug the Crystal USB 3.0 cable into a USB 3.0 socket on my PC, but to plug into a USB 2.0 socket instead which continues to work normally. HTH -
Prior to the recent DCS patch I had updated Pimax Play to the latest edition and was pleased with the performance and image quality. However, following the DCS update there was a noticeable reduction in FPS especially at low level and a reduction in image quality. Switching between F1 and F10 caused a low of FPS. Not that I have in depth knowledge of computers I have been working away trying to recover to a point pre DCS update. I found uninstalling Pimax Play, QVFR, QVC, Pimax XR and OPENXRTK using the usual Windows method, followed up by manually checking the program files for any folders related to these programs and removing them. I then checked %AppData% folders Local, Local Now and Roaming and removing any folders linked to these programs. Following a PC restart I then reinstalled the latest Pimax Play, ticked the boxes in the DCS VR tab to include QV & ET. The net result is I have regained much of the FPS lost with a mostly steady 72 FPS. While the FPS can reduce to 50+ over busy areas at low altitude and some minor stuttering can happen, I do feel happier than just after the patch was installed. To reiterate I am only using Pimax Play and DCS now (Discord and SimHaptic also). This approach has helped me a non-expert and I offer it as an example which may help others if you are still struggling pending any update from ED.

Post update of Pimax Play I was one of the lucky ones that had great image quality, pretty much solid 72FPS and the floating sensation of the headset had stopped. I was looking forward to the patch yesterday for even better performance. I am grateful for the patch and all the hard work from the developers. Sadly this morning I have noticed a reduction in FPS especially lower altitudes and dogfighting enemy jets. The floating sensation has also returned. Switching between F10 and F1 places a big hit on FPS but F2 retains 72FPS. Having tried various combinations with Pimax Play, QVFR, QVC and DCS (QV & ET enabled and not) I have settled on Pimax Play QV enabled with DCS QV&ET enabled and no other apps. FPS remains reduced at lower altitudes but floating is minimal. I feel like I was better placed pre ED patch in terms of performance but do welcome all the new features and fixes especially the F16 radar. If anyone has found the trick to maintain performance as before I would be most grateful for your advice. Thank you.

My hardware is listed at the bottom of my post. I also use Task Manager via the Details Tab to change DCS Priority to High (Do not use Realtime!!). which helps my system. Apologies if you already know this tip. Currently I am happy with FPS and smoothness of play.

You appear to be correct QVC appears to be redundant so I have uninstalled it. So far the new Pimax Play appears to be an improvement as per my earlier post. Given the incoming DCS Patch (hopefully this week) with the anticipated performance improvements mentioned in the newsletter, I think should all be even happier.
-
I have not done any testing so you may well be correct. Perhaps I need to uninstall QVC as well? I will have a closer look tomorrow and report back.
-
I am using the updated Pimax Play and QVC only. Pimax XR, QVFR and OPENXRTK have been uninstalled. Sorry, I am not on my PC so can’t send a screen shot of my QVC window, I will try and add it to this thread tomorrow.
-
I have my resolution set to 100% other settings are similar. Please try 100% I used to use 140%, but don’t regret lowering the value.
-
I have switched to the new Pimax Play and initial impressions are very favourable. Perhaps 10% increase in FPS. Floating sensation in the headset appears to have stopped Image quality appears cleaner and sharper (no DLSS Selected) Head movement appears smoother and more stable The only negative I have noticed so far is shimmering of text on information table pages but in cockpit and F2 views do not appear affected Additionally the gamma appears brighter and I may need to reduce the setting HTH and useful
