  1. You sure know how to make your videos! I´m simply stunned Slamraam! :)
  2. Hmm hard to tell straight out of the memory, but I believe NOTE will flash for a second or two during the re-alignment after landing. If it won´t go away, try pressing CLR on the UFC or FA on the CDU. If you see NOTE on the HUD it advices you to check the CDU status line. Mostly about WARM START message or any errors in the alignment for the computers.
  3. I have never heard of such mod. How can you even hear that through the engines may I ask? ^^
  4. Some of my IQT flights within the 476th vFG. Go get ém Tigers! :)
  5. Again, how can we give you the answer on that? Not to be picky but that is way to steep for a normal take-off. As long as you don´t shut of the engines for all the negative G´s - then do as you wish. Bank the aircraft, pull of power, roll & pull or push, or just let the gravity do the job slowly by releasing the stick. It´s a matter of choice - and unless you´re not a part of squadron with specific procedures and rules - it´s up to you how you do it. But the overall rule is as P*Funk said - experience and knowing your aircraft and its capabilities and drawbacks is most vital.
  6. Well in what given situation do you talk about? For combat sorties there are standard SEM (Safe Escape Maneuvers), for which in general you pull up, bank/turn and let the gravity do the job. As you know the A-10C isn´t a jet full of power. In formations it´s better to push forward - so the fancy roll and pull is mostly used when you have fun att NOE in valley flying or trying to aviod AAA fire.
  7. Forget anything you `know` read up on page 124 in the DCS A-10C manual again. Set the altitude before take-off to whatever the airfield elevation is (yes the big numbers). If you want to be hardcore realistic, you should set the altimeter to 29.92 when passing > 10.000` MSL. But since DCS does´nt support any global weather systems or realistic ATC/FIR - you should do better without this change - especially if you play in SP, since the AI (tanker for example) don´t change their altimeter settings. A great tip from me, is that you do not rely solely on the HUD when flying. Learn the basic analog avionics (and learn them well). Don´t forget to turn on your Pitot Heat too - as it might make things a lot worse if not turned on!
  8. Hey send me a PM, and I´ll explain in Swedish if you want!
  9. 1) Mount Elbrus on the border between Georgia and Russia. (It´s Europes highest mountain). 2) Oil platforms along the coast off Sochi. 3) MiG-19 (?) on pole at Krasnodar-Center airport. 4) Roki-tunnel at the RUS-GRG border (in South Ossetia) 5) A giant water reservoir in the western parts of Georgia near Abkhazia.
  10. Behind the scene of a fighter. A Swedish informational film about the various support elements. (sorry the narrative is in Swe).
  11. Depends on how you act over the battlefield. We don´t know anything about the Ukrainan tactic - except that they are within MANPAD range. And that says something more about the general use of their equipment, than of the equipment itself. EDIT: Except the Ukrainian absence of PGM. So they are quite forced to go down low.
  12. Wow ambitions to replace both the A-10C and the F-15C? That´s really ambitious goals... I can only believe it will stretch as far as a competitor in the T-X programme on the US-market. But for south-east Asia and South America - I think the chances are better. The world needs more cheap and basic multi-role capability fighters indeed - instead of the over-hyped F-35 Project.
  13. An interesting article about the squadron exchange! :) http://www.globalaviationresource.com/v2/2014/06/13/military-exercise-testing-times-as-swedish-air-force-gripens-visit-raf-coningsby/
  14. J 32B Lansen from the Swedish Air Force Historical Flight squadron. They also fly some atmospherical test flights sometimes, still serving Sweden since the first flight in November 1952. It was also the first Swedish-built aircraft to break the sound barrier (in a dive) on the 25th of October 1953. The type was built in three versions - A2A (J), A2G (A) and Recce (S) variants.
  15. You can reach other assets on 124,0 AM channel, and JTAC on 30,00 FM channel. If you´re not using Easy Radios. The AI and wingmen have a bad reputation in DCS. So unless you haven´t figured out their strengths and weaknesses, you´re better of alone without them. For the third part - depending how you want to play your missions depends on your own view of what is fun. Either you do what you are told (in the poorly briefing), or you bomb anything you see and do more than you are supposed to do. Either way is accepted in DCS as long as the mission goals are met so you can continue forward.
  16. Which explains why these exercises/tests like MEATBALL-14 ( :D ) are critical for proper use of equipment so you don´t end up in the wrong end of your own missile.
  17. It clearly says in the beginning of the text that the whole point of this exercise was to fly against two superior fighters. The unit that visits RAF Coningsby is the SwAF T&E Squadron (TU JAS) with the intent to form the tactics and procedures for the operational squadrons for the upcoming HMD implementation. With that in mind, I belive more in their professionalism, than in your statements picked out of the blue. What is your proof that the Typhoons were more loaded than the Gripens in relation to MTOW? If you are right, then the entire SwAF will be fooled, and more than one head will roll here in Sweden.
  18. The Gripen is taking off without afterburner in general to conserve fuel. Max perfomance TO may come down to a little more than 300 meters. How that stands against the Typhoon I´m unsure about.
  19. Yeah I tried to implement RL weather systems before in DCS DW, but found it quite impossible to replicate since the size of the systems won´t fit into the tiny theathers DCS provide. The current stock Dynamic Weather is to me really bad, and a proper DW input is something to long for.
  20. I use: http://www.checkwx.com/ Just enter the ICAO code, and voila! A tip is to go by airfields that lay close to the mean sea level as the weather input in ME corresponds to that.
  21. Must be a hard time pressing the correct buttons on the keyboard and reading checklists or so when using the Oculus Rift?
  22. Just check a METAR code available online and insert it into the ME.
  23. I can´t give you a professional answer, but at least a hint if it´s realistic or not. The A-10 have flown with 6x MAV in the earlier days - but I´m unsure if any other payload was present. But this encountered some problems to the airframe, and a total of 4x MAV was the new maximum. Depending on conflict zone and unit tasking there is almost only 2x MAV payloads - and in some cases even just 1x MAV. If the official chart only reaches 8,0 DI - then any more of that is probably unrealistic because you´d want the ability to maneuver and get the lady airborne safely in relation to gross weight and drag.
  24. DCS are developing each day so we should´nt rule out anything. But to not be frustrated it´s better to not epect anything, and be happy what you get. If we look back from where DCS where some years ago - it´s easy to be optimistic for the future. Just that this thread ended up in the DCS Wishlist should be considered an answer to the question about the obsolete airfields.
