  1. I haven´t heard if ED is re-working any fields for the moment. But the ones who are beautiful for now is: Batumi Beslan Tbilisi-Lochini Mozdok Senaki-Kolkhi Soganlug Sukhumi-Babushara Vaziani If I remember correctly these were improved when ED expanded the map some years ago. They are now working on the lighting and atmospherical rendering as well as EDGE - which will improve the looks drastically. But no changes in airfields for the Caucasus theather to my understanding. PS: Really well taken screenshots! :)
  2. Senaki-Kholki is one of the re-worked airbases around the map, while Kutaisi is not.
  3. Hello fellow pilots! The pilot is suddenly off center to the right of the HUD. Thought it was a TIR5 glitch so I tried restarting both DCS and TIR5 to no success. I´ve also repaired DCS, and tried a new mission... I haven´t mixed with any files, and have just one mod installed - which haven´t caused me any problems earlier. Any suggestions what I should do - or should I go with a full re-install? I´m currently running (1.2.8 27203) flying the A-10C.
  4. If there is something I don´t understand about the Swiss decision to purchase the Gripen is why it is intended to work alongside the Hornet? Isn´t it overkill in terms of maintaining and educating personel and equipment with two fighter systems capable of the same tasks, even the major airforces in Europe are (or are in the process) of operating just one multi-role fighter type. But I guess that Swiss don´t have to do just as everyone else does. But it just makes you wonder why! :) The Swedish media reports almost daily about all the negative sides opposing the deal. That the radio communication (?) in Gripen will be American made and therefore cannot be trusted in the wakes of the NSA-scandal according to the Gripen opposition in Switzerland. But both their current fighters are American made! Are the debate really this - excuse the expression - childish in Switzerland for the time being? This fighter-deal have been edged with that various sides are just throwing poop on each other it seems...in public media. But that leads to the question - how educated are the voters about the matter? Do the voters seem to have a pretty natural point of view, or does it seem to be angled in favor to which media or party that yells the most?
  5. This is something I´ve been addressing and wishing for a long time! As Eddie says, an option to set coalition in mission triggers and the ME would improve the realism drastically for DCS. I would like to stretch it even further as to make it plausible to make the same countries fight each other - since most excercises today are arranged in a manor where one US F-16 (aggressor) fights another US F-16 in the AO (while operating from the same base). This would sure improve realism for the upcoming Nevada theater.
  6. Have an UCAV actually flown CAS missions to this date? To my knowledge they only fly FAC(A) and Pinpoint Strike missions.
  7. A-10C shall refuel at 220 KIAS - the relation between GS and IAS depends on the altitude - and the optimum altitude is FL150. To calculate GS in relation to 220 IAS: (220 * 0,018 * 15) + 220 = GS 15 = depends on set altitude in thousands of feet Remember to set the GS and altitude in the orbit task in ME and refueling should be a lot easier.
  8. No, SADL is not available to AI flights. You can only share SPI information with wingmen and LST/DL from JTAC units.
  9. I always wanted to be a fighter pilot, but I just had a slight eye-sight problem on one eye. But I still tried to study the courses I needed to become a pilot within the Swedish Air Force. But somehow, I felt inside I was´nt going to reach the final goal, I´m just fooling myself - so the result was low self esteem in school resulting in skipping classes and getting bad grades. So yeah thats my story in life, walking with the eyes turned skyward, but missing and tripping on hinders laying before me! So now I just play DCS in SP and pretend I actually have a life ;)
  10. Happy 2nd anniversary 476th vFG! Great pics, and good luck in the future! Time flies. :)
  11. If I understood you right, you mean that a total of 72 airframes are too small to uphold a production line over time? I fully understand your point in this, and the requirements Sweden had in the late 80´s to keep producing fighter planes was a minimum of 200 units, to keep the production line open at SAAB in Linköping and still make it profitable - rather than buying off the shelf. What this current SAAB - Embraer deal gives is a lot more than the production line itself. It gives Brazil the oppurtunity to closer technology exchanges between the two countries. Brazil have about really just purchased the Gripen in its core platform, and been given the oppurtunity to continue developing the product. SAAB have more interrested buyers in South America, and if these would indeed choose Gripen, I am sure it would benefit Embraer and Brazil in many ways. I hope I answered your questions. :)
  12. Anyone having some info on what forces Russia (and/or Ukraine) are using in the current Crimean conflict? Would be great to find such info for realistic mission building. :)
  13. I still don´t see any logic in your statement. Did you really don´t read what I wrote? The F-16 and the JAS 39 have served under two different political systems. Such a comparison is dead already from the start. Instead you have to look at the technical data and how it really perfoms in advanced aerial exercises. You don´t have to belive the proof, you can distrust exercises as much as you want, and whether or not the Libyan operation was a "real" war or not. But such as discussion belongs in another thread in my opinion. You have your proof under your nose, but it becomes quite annoying if we have to convince you about whether or not exercises and air campaigns are evidence or not for you! Political use of the planes don´t change it´s technical data. And why would you belive the Gripen won´t perfom as well in full scale wars as the Falcon? What is your thought and evidence for that? And no, kill-scores against a less technical and trained enemy ain´t proof enough...
  14. Well do you belive the F-15C Eagle is a better airplane than the F-22 Raptor, just because it have more confirmed kill scores? Your theory don´t make sense, even tough you try to be so objective it backfires you into something almost naive way of thinking. The same way of thinking goes for the Gripen versus Falcon. The F-16 have 20 years of longer service in far more political and military aggressive countries - so no wonder why it have more kill scores - but that ain´t a proof either for it being a better fighter. It is just used differently, and that´s why you should´nt compare aircraft in such a way. Are you really serious about your theory about exercises? Red Flag was created just because US pilots had really big problems coping with the threat enviroment over Vietnam. I don´t even know if you are serious or not, but that is to me just as a stupid statement, as it for you hearing me say Gripen have a reputation for being a well perfoming fighter.
  15. Yeah I agree with you, it´s a bit cocky maybe to say it IS the best light weight multi role fighter. And a fully comprehensive picture of the systems and tactics is to say at least not available for the public. The Gripen flew CAP, AFAC and Reconnaissance missions, whilst being fully armed over an enviroment more hostile than you think. NATO later stated they were prioritizing the Swedish reconnaissance contribution for its quality and quick reporting of targets before it going cold. The political rable is another discussion, but the fact that it perfomed well over Libya reaching it´s objectives tells you something about the plane. I do think your view of when something is "Combat Proven" is quite subjective. Perfoming well in advanced combat exercises don´t give you the stamp "combat proven" - but it sure gives you reputation.
  16. If it perfoms well in exercises it should perfom quite well in real conflicts as well - or do you say the Raptors is a bad airplane even tough it perfoms well in exercises but never ever had a real mission over enemy territory? With that attitude the Gripen should be a much better aircraft since it have participated in a real conflict such as in Libya and against the M23 guerilla (no official announcment) in Africa. It all depends on how you use it, it´s the politicians who decides in what extent the airplane is to be used in conflicts, and the AF staff how they need to be exercised. The producers such as SAAB produce an aircraft ordered by the state according to a demand list - and that demand list ain´t put togheter for PR. Gripen is probably the best light-weight multirole fighter (depending on how you classify the EF and Rafale) on the market in various aspects. And the proof? International Exercises, Unified Protector, M23 intervention, life-cycle-costs and just the fact it´s a well loved airplane by the pilots who fly it.
  17. Have this been reported? The thread in the Open Beta Beta Bug Forum was [CLOSED] without an explanation...and I was pretty much robbed on an three hour flight, because one uncontrolled AI Group did´nt start. Myself and many others would appreciate at least a hint if this have been reported to higher people or not.
  18. A good calculation to determine tanker TAS (IAS always 220 kts) on various altitudes are: (220 * 0,018 * X) + 220 = TAS X: altitude, ex 20 for 20.000´ MSL. This way, you can always calculate what the best tanker orbit speed is for various altitudes for a Warthog refuel.
