Thanks for this advice! A bit off topic, but I found this solution to work very well with my MSFS2020 setup. My Aero/4090/13900k now provides a nice enough frame rate even at the highest PPD, but stutters were a major issue until I applied your solution - it's now 90% stutter free. That said, I did not have to resort to this tweak flying the Apache in DCS. It is now smooth running at 45+ FPS in SP, flying the Caucases with impossibly sharp cockpit at 39ppd/High settings (using slight Reshade sharpening etc.). This may be a placebo effect, but using SteamVR/DCS - I turn off OXR in VB which seems to make a difference. With FS2020 I do the opposite.

This may not be relevant, being a Canadian chain retailer, and in most cases it won't ship via online order - but found that they'll usually have one or another of the OEMs at a decent retail price. Here's what I purchased last week: https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_559&item_id=226645. I got it from one of their locations in Toronto, and it retails for roughly $1600usd. Time to find out if you have a Canadian in your family

Super! Thanks for this. I will be going through OC'ing once my AIO arrives - this is helpful. Did you happen to try and measure FPS in DCS before/after disabling E-cores?
-
Thank you for this. I was hoping otherwise, but you're presenting a compelling case. Are you per chance, flying in 2.8? Are you seeing performance issues that other VR flyers mentioned?

Hello folks. I'm about to install the 4090/13900k combo - moving from a 3080ti/9900k (with the Varjo Aero obviously). I switched to OpenXR at the time, and it did make a bit of difference compared to SteamVR. But wondering if there's a point doing so again with this upgraded setup - with so much raw power on tap. There's some extra effort maintaining an OpenXR setup compared to out-of-the box SteamVR. Would love your input.

Thank you. This works. Turns down the dial a bit - from "impossibly annoying" to "annoying"

Thank you! I'll give it a try.

Hello folks. I follow the "align your IHADDS crosshair with the center of the bullseye" method for my pilot seat position and get good enough results. I can reliably use rockets. But it's a very different story for the CPG seat. I'm struggling to find the right position when moving my head up and down, trying to align my crosshairs with the boresight's bullseye. I need to contort my whole upper body "downwards" and even then it's difficult to find the center. Any advice? (I'm really glad DCS devs are looking into a solution! I absolutely LOVE this module.) Thanks in advance.

Bailey's VoiceAttack Profiles (Added OH-58D Kiowa!)
Salter10 replied to Bailey's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Fantastic profile @Bailey. Thank you. I may have stumbled across a tiny issue: when calling out KU number 8 ("ku 8 press; press ku 8"), it seems to be activating number 9 on the KU instead. I downloaded the profile on May 5th 2022. Easy enough to correct via VA's UI of course. But thought you may want to know. -
Hello folks. I realize this may be a forehead slap question, but I'm a noob to the multiplayer aspects of DCS. I'd like to play one of the missions that came with the Apache's early release - from DCS - with a friend as a copilot in the Apache. Is it possible? Can I setup an ad-hoc DCS session for both of us to play the same mission? Thanks for indulging my lack of knowledge. Salter.

KB Quick – Quick and Easy Kneeboards – Create/Edit/Organise/Publish
Salter10 replied to ShaunX's topic in DCS Modding
Your QA team reporting back When selecting a table (all it's rows and columns) and trying to change font size, this error appears. I can press "Continue" and all's fine. Obviously it does not however change the font size of text in the table cells "wholesale". I need to select each cell's text entry and change it's size. By the way: this is a table I copied from MS Word. Otherwise, I love this thing! Salter. -
KB Quick – Quick and Easy Kneeboards – Create/Edit/Organise/Publish

"Bugs" humanize computers. My theory is that the perfect AI will require some form of imperfection to behave expectedly. Nature in all its vast complexity, is imperfect by design. My inevitable demise is one proof point. OK, enough philosophizing. I'm glad to hear you'll be adding functionality! One additional point of view: for an exclusive VR flyer like me (there are more and more of us), kneeboard is even more important. Maybe you could keep this in mind when adding functionality. I'd be happy to beta test for you. Cheers. -
KB Quick – Quick and Easy Kneeboards – Create/Edit/Organise/Publish
Salter10 replied to ShaunX's topic in DCS Modding
Indeed. Thank you for the instructions. I'm now up and running! I noticed a couple of things: 1. I right clicked on the Kneeboard Name | Target Folder | KB top right "table heading" so to speak - when there were no kneeboards created yet. It gave me the error I attached below. Obviously I had no reason to do so functionally. But we users sometimes click anywhere and everywhere anyway The issue goes away once one kneeboard is created and listed. 2. More importantly: when prompted to select a kneeboard folder, I chose the folder (the relevant saved game - DCS - kneeboard ) a prompt that says something like "you can only choose a "kneeboard" folder" (I can't remember the exact wording) and then the app shut down. Interestingly, when I re-opened the app, the path to the chosen kneeboard folder showed up. I'm not sure if it was something I did wrong. It's easy enough for me to replicate. Thank you for writing this app. So very useful. I'll probably have more questions, but for now reading the manual to make sure I'm familiar with the app's options. -

Thank you @ShaunX for following up! Here's what I see when running the command: When I installed the runtime via the link in the error dialogue box - it went for the version listed on line 2 above (5.0.17). -
KB Quick – Quick and Easy Kneeboards – Create/Edit/Organise/Publish

Hello! Tried running the application per instructions, was prompted for .NET install, which I did from the prompt's dialogue linked page. It shows that .NET is running. But for some reason when trying to run KBQuick.exe, the same message shows up - indicating I must install .NET. I rebooted my system just in case, but it's not working. Thanks in advance!! -
Select WPN -> Boresight -> IHADSS -> position reticle over boresight (I use right eye only IHADSS) and then use RCTRL + RSHIFT + numpad directional keys (8, 6, 4, 2) while keeping reticle over the center boresight until circles nicely align. I will say though, that as long as my VR headset position is reasonably true in the cockpit looking forward (using numpad 5 for repositioning), my rockets (and rail gun shots) land very well without having to go through this process. In other words, for me it's coming down to constantly refining the skill of flying, while aligning LOS, head tracker and the rocket steering cursor "i" beam and precisely pulling the trigger in the right time. It took me a few hours to get this right. And it's very satisfying when it does finally click. Rockets are now my favorite "mini game". That said, I only tried it from hot start. Check @Eldur post above. His experience shows that it's different when he starts cold. I have not tried it yet.

Seeing windows desktop apps while in VR session?
Salter10 replied to Salter10's topic in Virtual Reality
That's so cool. Thanks, @firefox121 -
Thanks @Rabies. I second that. It's a bit finicky, a work around for a problem for which I hope ED will find an elegant solution. It requires about 15 seconds extra fiddling, but I do end up getting high enough hit rates with rockets, as an example. That said, I only tried it from pilot position.

Seeing windows desktop apps while in VR session?
Salter10 replied to Salter10's topic in Virtual Reality
Many thanks for finding this method @The_Nephilim! Clunky is better than nothing. I'll pull out the controller from its wrapper and give it a try. -
Seeing windows desktop apps while in VR session?
Salter10 replied to Salter10's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks, @The_Nephilim. For a platform billing itself as a "Windows Mixed Reality" - it seems that the two do not mix very well -
Apologies if this was asked before - but could not find anything. I'd love to switch over to and see my windows desktop without removing my Reverb G2, or exiting DCS. Is there a WMR solution for this? Thanks!

OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
Salter10 replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks, @DeltaMike. Now that I'm flying the AH-64 around 45fps - some call it "soft lock" - I see what you mean. All's nice and smooth. I'll stick with OXR for now because it's a one stop shop, more or less, for tuning that otherwise requires multiple MODS with SVR. As I said in my other reply, this process of optimizing VR is a mini game in and of itself. In 10 years or less, this thread will be a nostalgic "remember when?..." curiosity, just like 3D gaming in Windows 3.1 -
OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
Salter10 replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
Today I flew the AH-64 for the first time. What an awesome module. I used to fly full size RC hellis a decade ago. It helps! VR also helps. A sense of placement and position is enhanced. With OXR I get around 45fps (MR disabled) and all's smooth and beautiful - inside and out. This module was born for VR and OXR it seems.
