Start with user vehicle already started/aligned?
Dscross replied to grandkodiak's topic in Mission Editor
Take off from Ground hot means you can move it around the airfield. (Set it to client first, then drop it, then "start from ground Hot". Then put in waypoints and add weapons and fuel stores. NOTE: In the Hornet, Viper, Harrier, and Hwag, set each waypoint to GROUND LEVEL so your targeting pod slews to target at WP< not, 30,000 feet up. (6895ft as the case may be). If you choose "Take off from Parking Hot" the mission will start with your aircraft in a numbered parking spot. If you choose "Take off from Ramp" the aircraft starts cold in a parking spot. If you choose "Take off from Ground" the aircraft starts cold from on the ground that isn't a parking spot, allowing you to move it around and point it in the direct you would like. Remember to set yourself Waypoints to make the mission easier and more fun. In the Viper and Harrier, you'll want to place a waypoint directly on the airfield you're departing from, then select "Landfuelrearm" and WP 1 will be your home base. With the Hornet WP zero defaults to starting location. If you are flying a TOMCAT. Check the box on the far-right tab, "INS Alignment Stored" if you don't do that, the Tomcat will require a full 8 min alignment on cold start. Furthermore, if you select "Start from Parking Hot" in a Tomcat, and you load it with a Targeting pod, and LGB's, you won't need to wait for the targeting pod to fully warm up, it'll be ready when you get in the jet. NOTE: these setting also should be checked for aircraft starting on carriers or ships. "Start From RUNWAY" on a jet which is on a Carrier will start the aircraft on the catapults...all of them... which means if you put a hot started AI helicopter on a carrier... as runway start...it will block a catapult. You can also start helicopters from ships like a Destroyer with a helipad, which makes from some fun, as I personally love ship landing helicopters. If you have any other questions about mission editor, let me know, I'll answer what I can. Here is a link to the squadron discord https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn Stop by anytime, anyone there will be glad to help you in any way they can. We also usually have our own training server running, and you can get the password from people on discord. We have links to all the manuals and Chuck's guides in a channel listed by module on the discord, feel free to take advantage of that as well. On our squadron page we have a list of compaines sort of sorted, who make flight sim gear. I hope this all helps you have more fun in DCS. Here's a link to our squadron page. -
Recently (last 4-5 days) I've been experiencing a problem with the engine sound in the Mig21 while in the cockpit. Switching to external view and the jet will sound normal, but no engine sounds inside cockpit except afterburner. It seems to pop up on hot started jets which start in aircraft shelters on Caucasus map. (I haven't check other maps yet, I will) once it popped up on a cold start jet at Kutasi, but 95% of the time it's a hot start in an aircraft shelter. Last night while flying MIG-21s with a guy in my squadron we both had it happen. I have a recording of it somewhere, as I was recording at the time. I'll look for the recording later today and if I can't find it I'll just start flying the fishbed until it happens again. Thank you, I will update when I learn more.

I have an order from Virpil pending. Here's what they're saying.
Dscross replied to Dscross's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I very well might be, and If I'm not, I am 100% sure someone in my squadron will want it. And if you're looking for great group of people to fly with, drop by and fly with us. We've got a gear swat channel on the AIN discord, plus all sorts of other cool stuff like Open-source intel, all the manuals and Chuck's guides sorted by aircraft, and more. It's a pretty cool squadron. Here's the link to the AIN discord if you're interested. https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn -

I went to their website and used the "contact support" tab. Then I filled out the form and opened a ticket. If you don't mind me asking, what's your plan for your CM2 grip? Anyway, good luck on the FedEx problem. Let me know if I can give you any other advice or anything. -

The setup isn't bad. A few screws and some calibration. Wow, what a difference using Virpil. It took my enjoyment of the sim to another level. -
You are all welcome to drop by the Arrorian Imperial Navy (AIN). Here's our discord. https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn We have instructors for just about any jet or helicopter in DCS. (There are a few rare exceptions like the C101) We have our own training server which we sometimes switch to missions for the squadron. There will be a squadron mission in the next couple weeks as we're training up new people now. We're about 60% former military, though that is not required. We have members all over the world, Including the United States, China, India, the U.K., South Africa, Canada, and probably places I'm forgetting. Basically, that means that whenever you want to fly, there's a good chance someone else will want to fly as well. We sometime do product testing of gear, which is fun, and gets the squadron some discount codes and perks. We have an optional Open-Source Intelligence section on our discord for sharing and evaluating open-source intelligence from around the globe. There are other perks and benefits, but the biggest perk is just having a great group of people who share a love of flight sims to fly with. (And of course the mandatory Dogs, Cars, and Cool stuff sections of the discord, because a Dog picture section is mandatory...lol) We're open to anyone, and we pride ourselves in helping new and old pilots alike get better at DCS. (there are sections for other "games", which aren't DCS level, should you lower your morals enough to play them...) Anyway, that's AIN. I hope to see you in the skies. AIN-1, Steve. EDIT: Added squadron link and image.

Semi new player looking for F-14B squadron
Dscross replied to combatcarlton_'s topic in Squadron News
You (anyone) are welcome to drop by AIN (Arrorian Imperial Navy). https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn We have several F14 guys who know the platform well. I fly it, and can do well in the front seat, and okay in the back seat, but I'm by no means an expert in it. We would like to get enough people to be able to run a full flight of 4 Tomcats with human pilots and RIOs for our missions. The next squadron mission will be in the next few weeks, as we get some other new guy's up to speed on their F/A-18 Hornets, and A-10 CII's. Everyone is welcome, we have great instructors, some perks and discount codes for members, our own training server. (Mostly A2G currently as we're training up new guys). We have about 60% former military including Army, Air Force, and USMC, as well as veterans from non-American armed forces. We hope to see you around, and good luck in DCS. -
Running Rudder Pedals with a Leg Disability.
Dscross replied to Dscross's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The MFG Crosswind V3 pedals arrived. Here are a few comparison pictures of those, and hopefully soon I'll have some idea of which I like best. Im including links to both Virpil and MFG websites, so you don't have to go looking like I did. This is my first impressions of 2 very high quality set of rudder pedals, the MFG Crosswind V3 Graphite with ME109 footrests, and the Virpil Ace Collection rudder pedals. Virpil first impression: "Holy cow these things are big!" MFG First Impression: "HOW MUCH DAMN TAPE DID THEY USE!" As some of you know, the saga of trying to find the perfect rudder pedals for my use, has been a thing... I have a condition called "drop foot" on my left leg, a result of gunshot wound caused compartment syndrome in 2005 while in the United States Army. I can't seem to adapt to flying with a twist grip, and so, I struggle with finding with good rudder pedals. My left ankle is partly fuzed, and I can't pull my toes up, I also have limited sensation, and some hyper sensation in my left leg. This means that I don't always know exactly where my left foot is, only the general area. Alright, so that's the preamble, let's get too it. We'll start with dealing with each company as a first time costumer. Since I ordered from Virpil first, we'll start there. Virpil is always back ordered. You won't get anything from virpil in under 3 weeks unless the Gods are with you. Considering my foot problem, I wanted rudder pedals with as much adjustment as possible. I might have my left pedal in a very different position to my right, because of my stupid leg. Adjustments are important to me. Thus, i was more than a little annoyed that I couldn't buy just the footrests from virpil. I could buy rudder pedals one way, the other way, or more expensive set with 2 sets of footrests. But the foot rests themselves are not sold separately. Why? Next, it was Virpil sending my rudder pedals with Fedex, who promptly lost them for a week. (*sigh...) oh, and I didn't know that with some...some virpil stuff you can plug one device into another virpil device, and daisy chain them together. Guess which device you can't daisy chain? Pedals. That's fine, I have a USP thingy... but Virpil didn't ask if I wanted the special cable to do that when my wife ordered a full set of stuff from them for my birthday. They didn't simply throw the 7$ cable in with the 1500$ + order. Which I'm going to be salty about for awhile. Because if I want that cable, I've got to pay something like 50$ shipping from Virpil. Sure, I can probably find something on amazon, but it really bugs me. MFG ordering.: The first time I looked at the MFG website I muttered "WTF" and went back to the Virpil site. Not lying. However, I looked closer. It's actually pretty simple, but I was worried about accidently ordering parts that weren't compatible or something. Okay, so I'm not a huge fan of the MFG website, but it's really fine, it just pushed me away for a bit. The more research I did on rudder pedals, the more the name "MFG" came up when people talk about quality. Oh, and they shipped DHL, so I got the MFG pedals 4 days before they promised them, as opposed to 7 days late when Virpil shipped Fedex. (Pay for DHL whenever you order international, this isn't the first Fedex screw up I've dealt with.) The packaging of the MFG pedals was secure bordering on OCD. You can open something from virpil without a knife. You can't do anything about the shipment from MFG without a knife, 4 buckets of profanity, a snowstorm of Styrofoam, and 19 separate cuts to open each idem in the shipment, including the hex wrench. I do not joke when I say that they bubble wrapped and used 3 separate kinds of tape just on that hex wrench. OCD bordering on murder inducing is how I'd describe the shipping packaging from MFG. I'm willing to bet you could drop a set of packaged for shipping MFG crosswinds into an EOD bomb disposal tank with a grenade, and you'd still have working rudder pedals at the end of it. (I've used grenades, I'm kidding.) The virpil packing was secure, but after MFG it seems almost careless. (it wasn't, MFG just way over secures the packaging.) Virpil packages are a box inside a box, secured with "VIRPIL" logo tape. Inside the smaller box is a load of bubble wrap a couple pieces of tape which are easy to pull off without using a hydraulic spreader, and there are your new virpil pedals. Let me put it this way, I had the ace collection pedals out and assembled in about half the time it took me to remove the shipping and packing material from the MFG crosswinds. Assembly: Guess which company provided easy assembly instructions in the shipping box? If you guessed "NEITHER" you'd be right. Sure, I can go to either website and look, but I can't do that easily while taking pictures with my phone and operating a chainsaw to open the packaging. No instructions on either. Assembly difficultly: Both pedals resulted in at least one "WTF" moment while trying to get them together. Both times it was a result of 2 different hex bolts being close in size, but not perfect, which caused a momentary delay. That being said, once the pieces were all laid out, either pedal were assembled at least remotely correctly within 10 minutes without moving to the computer to look up assembly instructions. There was a little annoyance on the MFG pedals. First, there is one spring, on the left side of the base of the V# crosswind pedals. This spring connects to a threaded rod and the centering cam on the front. For your own sanity, put that together in this order. 1) Remove nut from threaded rod. 2) slide threaded rod through hold in base from the front towards the back. 3) screw nut back on rod from the back. 4) attach spring to the rod FIRST, then hook it to the centering cam. 5) adjust spring tension by turning nut on rod until desired tension is achieved. Comfort of ACE collection pedals VS. MFG Crosswind v3 ME109. First let me say that there is Zero doubt in my mind that both of these pedals are extremely high quality. Both use the same connection cable. Both are very smooth and comfortable to rest my feet on. Both are wide and have good travel distance. Both have adjustable spring tension and cams. In a size comparison, there are differences. The ace collection pedals are taller, like much taller. The angle of the footrest is adjustable on the MFG crosswind, and the factory setting it much lower of an angle. This might be a good thing, might not be for my leg, I don't know yet. The travel distance on the brake axis of the MFG crosswind seems about 10% less than the Ace collection pedals, but that it using the factory settings, and they are adjustable. The ace collection pedals are how they are, as far as I know. The Crosswind pedals are also a little wider than the Ace collection pedals, like 2-3 cm (1-1.5 inches) if I had to guess. I have an old rug under my desk to dampen vibrations and sound which I tend to hear through my leg. On that rug, once I set the Ace collection pedals down, they do not move. If I want to move them, I'm climbing under my sim pit and picking them up to move them. (the little rubber feet are very good at their job). On the MFG Crosswind pedals, they will slide a bit on the rug, but they don't move much, and no where near as much as my old Thrustmaster T16000 pedals. However on hardwood floors, the Ace pedals slide easier than the MFG crosswinds. (I tested both sets in the dining room when I opened them.) If you are mounting your pedals on a crossbar or something in your simpit, either can be mounted, but beware of the height on the Ace collection pedals and beware of the width of the Crosswind pedals if you are space limited. Both can be mounted, but I don't currently, so that's on you. I will be doing more in-depth testing on both of these pedals. However, these are my first impressions. Feel free to ask me any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. EDIT: here are links to both companies. I also post links to every manufacturer of quality flight sim gear I can find on my squadron page. Dscross replied to Dscross's topic in VIRPIL Controls
My stuff was only at Degaul for about 9 hours, you might want to start sending emails and asking Fedex and Virpil what the problem is. As you might imagine, I'm a bit salty at Fedex right now. Anway, good luck and like I said, you should probably start asking questions from Virpil and Fedex. (good luck getting anything from Fedex support.) I'm still waiting on them to get back to me about my lost pedals... and I have the pedals now... -
I have just today received my new "Ace Collection Rudder Pedals" from Virpil Controls. These pedals are a replacement for Thrustmaster T16000 pedals I've been using for a few years. Above: The 2 pedals in question. I've spoken some about my disability in a post in the Virpil Controls section. I wouldn't rehash it all again, but in short, I have a disability called Drop Foot on my left leg. (See images) This is a result of a gunshot wound while in the Army and serving in Iraq. The GSW caused compartment syndrome, which crushed the muscle, nerve, and connective tissue in my leg with pressure as the blood flowed into the leg but could not pump out because of a severed vein. (Femoral Vein) I can't lift my toes, and my ankle is sort of fused, and only moves if I move it with my hand or press it against something. I also lack proper touch sensitivity. It's either hypersensitive, or can't feel anything, depending on the time of day, Barometric pressure, how much I've used the leg today, and a whole bunch of other things. Okay, so that's the problem. (Don't bother to comment saying I could fly with a twist stick, that's just trolling. I can't. Doesn't work for me. I fly with pedals. and I own a manual transmission 1985 Jeep and as well as my other car. Yeah, I can drive a stick.) While I can fly with rudder pedals, some pedals are easier than others. For example in the pictures you can see the comparison in width of pedals between the Virpil pedals and the Thrustmaster T16000 model. So apart from overall build quality, which the Virpl pedals win hands down without question by a mile... The wider pedals are much more comfortable. The virpil pedals are about 2-3 inches taller in overall height, and about 4 inches wider throw, maybe less, but it feels like double. Each footrest on the virpil is much more comfortable as the pedal angel at which it sits in the resting position is higher on the ThrustMaster. When I rested my left foot on the TM pedals, it sort of pinched something in my ankle or leg. I don't know because My leg lies to me all the time, but it didn't feel good. I found myself removing my foot from the pedals during flights, which involved lifting my leg with my arm and setting it on the floor. I have not yet done any long flights with the Virpil pedals, however there is no pinching sensation when i put my feet on them. They are comfortable. My Wife sat in a chair and put her feet on both, she commented that the Virpil pedals are like a nice footrest, the TM pedals were uncomfortable to her. (She has properly working legs, so I wanted her take on them.) The comfort level is HUGE. Furthermore, the throw distance and design is important. I can hook my right foot and pull back, effectively adding left rudder, without using too much of my left leg, something that was technically possible, but actually near impossible with the TM pedals. The brake axis on the Ace pedals is a night and day difference. I plan on updating this post, as my wife sometimes feels bad for her cripple of a husband and also ordered me the MFG crosswind ME109 pedals with their adjustable footrest. I have not concerns about the quality of the Ace collection rudder pedals, and I haven't heard many complaints about the build quality of the MFG crosswind pedals. It's just going to come down to which pedals are more comfortable for me to use with my disability. Whichever pedals are a little less comfortable on my leg (Virpil or Crosswind) I'm going to sell off to someone in my Squadron (AIN). I'm going to do full reviews on both the Ace collection, with both foot rests, and the MFG Crosswind ME109 pedals. While this might be interesting to some of you, I must assume that there is someone else out there who is struggling with painful rudder pedals as well, and is too stubborn to use a twist grip. It is for those people, and the manufactures of these controllers that I am writing this for. If you're intresting in talking about this with me, or just someone to fly with and help you learn your aircraft in DCS, feel free to drop by the AIN discord server. We've got a great group of sim pilots, and we're always willing to help people learn and fly with new people. https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn Stay tuned, and if you've got any questions on the subject of rudder pedals and disability, please post it here so that we can try and work out solutions together. here's my Youtube, and Ill be doing video reviews of pedals in the near future when I've had a chance to play with them longer. But I did just review a pretty cool head tracker, so check that out in the mean time.

I have an order from Virpil pending. Here's what they're saying.
Dscross replied to Dscross's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Virpil Order: The Conclusion. Today is March 31st, 2022. My rudder pedals (ace collection) came today. Earlier in the week, as I've said, Fedex lost the delivery of my rudder pedals. The virpil support team has done a good job of working with me to sort things out. I am going to post a separate post about my experience with different rudder pedals in light of my disabled left leg, in the hopes that in can shed some light for others. That being said, I will talk now about my overall experience with Virpil as a costumer. I had my wife place the order, as it was my birthday present. She ordered the VPC Mongoose Base, CM3 Throttle, Alpha Right Grip, and Ace collection rudder pedals, as well as 2 short mounts, one for the throttle, one for the Alpha, with the mounting adapters. The total of the order was well over $1200, though I don't know the exact number with taxes and all that because it was a birthday present. My wife and I have both learned over the years that buying high quality tools, equipment and products is not only sensible, but also cheaper in the long run, and makes for a more enjoyable experience. As a veteran Infantryman, Firearms instructor, part time Law enforcement. (Yup, passed the academy with that stupid leg, amazing.) I bring the same motto to firearms parts. Add in that I've used firearms in life and death situation, and I think it's understandable that I am willing to pay for even marginal improvements in reliability and overall toughness. I bring up firearms because I have in the past ordered several products from a company called Larue Tactical. They make optics mounts for firearms, gun parts and the like. Every time I have ever ordered from Larue Tactical, it's not cheap, and I'm always, ALWAYS pleasantly surprised when I open the box. Larue Tactical always includes little extras, like a hat, they surprisingly good grill seasoning, bottle openers, cases, covers, extra stuff. I was therefore almost surprised when I (finnaly) received my entire virpil order, and only the parts on the parts list were in the boxes. There weren't even instructions for assembly? Really? Okay... Virpil knows I ordered a throttle, stick, base, and rudder pedals. Do you think they threw in an extra cable to hook the pedals or stick base to the throttle? Nope. So, should I want to buy that cable, I will need to order it for like 7 euros, and pay $50 shiping. Yeah, thanks virpil, you're thoughtfulness is amazing. As a new costumer, I didn't know I needed, or would want that cable, because I've never owned virpil before. They didn't include covers, a key chain, or one of those cool "Remove before flight : VIRPIL CONTROLS" tags to hang on my Alpha. Is any of that loot, or stuff, necessary? Nope. Not at all. Does it grate on me that they didn't sent it...yup, more than it should, if I've being honest. I have this stupid car. I love that car. Kills me and my wife glares at me for a week any time it needs to go into the shop. Driving it, amazing, visiting the mechanic, bring your own lube if you know what I mean. I love that car. So I once, and only once made the mistake of taking the car to the factory dealership for a service. Well apart from the basic thievery, dishonesty, and false diagnoses, there was the little stuff. When I got the car back, (5 days late... one hell'va oil change...) The Windshield washer fluid bottle was empty. ? They didn't inflate the tires to proper pressure, they didn't clean it, or check bother to fill up the washer fluid. I believe it's called costumer service. I will happily pay more, pay a lot to never have to worry when I have a problem. because problems happen. It wasn't Virpil's fault my shipment got lost (apart from using Fedex to begin with, but I digress). But taking a moment extra to see that there were 3 related controllers in the order, and it was a new costumer, and throwing in an extra cable would have impressed me. Most companies will eventually solve your problem if you complain enough. Great companies go out of their way to make sure you don't have problems in the first place. So far I'm very, very impressed with the quality of Virpil products. But every time I ever thinking of ordering from them in the future, (which I probably will), the thought that they didn't even think to throw in an extra cable, or send an email to ask if I might need one, yeah, that's going to bug me. I'll do more details on the quality and usability of the Virpil products in another post, but this has been my experience as a first-time costumer with Virpil Controls. They make good stuff, but I'm not buying a 65$ cable. Sorry. FYI, my MFG Crosswind pedals should be here in a few days. They shipped DHL, in case anyone is wondering. And I do feel bad, because of the Fedex screwup, 2 guys in my squadron were waiting on my take on the Virpil pedals. One ordered from MFG 2 days ago. The other ordered from MFG within the last 16 hours. None of us ever expected me to see these particular rudder pedals, so props to whomever at Virpil put the Fedex employees on the rack to make it happen. -

Thanks for the offer, I don't drink much more than the occasional glass of wine with my wife. (can't stand the taste of beer...) As to the push pull thing, I can push with my heel and that isn't a problem. The real issue is the angle at which the pedals hold the foot and the width of the overall set of pedals. The TM pedals just don't work well, and I end up doing it anyway and causing problems. Anyway, I got a message from Virpil today. They are good at taking care of their coustmers, it's just Fedex who screwed up. Here's what Virpil said. "On Tue, 29 Mar at 10:02 AM , VIRPIL Controls Support <support@virpil-controls.com> wrote: Hi steve, Hope you are well today! I am terribly sorry to hear that the pedals hasn't been delivered just yet. I can see that it has been released from customs already, so it should be on the way to you. However, I have emailed FedEx asking if everything is good with this shipment, and when we can expect the delivery. I have asked to deliver it ASAP. Our hands are really tied in this situation, and really hope it will be delivered to you until friday. I will keep an eye on this delivery, and will update you accordingly once I hear back from FedEx. Please let us know if the delivery will be made in the meanwhile. Many thanks! Regards, Tautvydas Lasas Customer Support VIRPIL Controls Team" Because of the delay, and as I've stated, the dire need for rudder pedals, my wife placed an order for a set of MFG crosswinds. If Virpil can get me a set then fine, but I don't want another month of a sore knee while I wait for the Ace Collection Pedals. There are a bunch of guys in my squadron who will gladly buy them from me if I like the MFG Crosswind Me109 pedals more. I'll let everyone know as this rudder pedals saga carries on... UPDATE: This is from Virpil. Hi steve, Hope you are well today! I am really sad writing you this, however FedEx is saying that they have lost track of the pedals shipment and asked me to provide more detailed description of the packaging and the content. They are now started looking for the parcel. I will give them a few days to find the parcel, and if they are unable to find it we will be requesting a CLAIM FORM from them. Once the claim form is filled out, we can then be able to send you a replacement pedals. For the replacement pedals we certainly won't be using FedEx, however I still hope they will be able to find the original parcel. My sincere apologies about this, and I hope you can hold on for just a bit longer until we sort is out for you. We will keep you updated on this matter. Thank you so much for your understanding. I now have my Alpha Right, CM3 Throttle, CM3 base, 2X short mounts somewhat setup on my desk. All of those items arrived on Friday the 25th of March 2022 and were ordered around February 24th 2022 (with 6 hours, it might be a technical day later or earlier depending on time zones.) Also ordered were the Ace Collection Rudder Pedals. *sigh... The rudder pedals are really where this story begins, way back in 2005. I was in the U.S. army and well, zigged when I should have zagged. *DING* I caught a round in the leg. Yes, the leg. and well, the bullet basically hit everything important that a bullet can hit. The end result being a bunch of scars, tissue loss, and a condition called "drop foot". It means I can't flex my toes upward) Basically I could downshift a motorcycle, but I wouldn't be able to upshift. But I'm stubborn, and I like rudder pedals. Hey, right leg works fine, why not? As it turns out there aren't many rudder pedals on the market that have an angle of pedal adjustment or swappable heel plates. The Ace Collection Rudder Pedals appear to (from the pictures and research I've done.), and stuff like the MFG Crosswind pedals do as well from what I understand. Well when my birthday was coming around my wife asked me what I wanted. My leg was hurting and I was just healing from an torn ACL in me left knew, so I complained that I'd really like rudder pedals that didn't make my leg throb. (yes, I know, if it hurts, don't do it...) I told her that virpil makes a set that I'd like to try because I think they might work well for my stupid leg. She ended up ordering me a full virpil set. (DCS is good for hand-eye coordination, and keeps my mind busy, and if my mind isn't busy, I annoy my wife.) So, virpil for my birthday. But it's now March 28th. No rudder pedals. Fedex: "Your delivery has been delayed" (I.E. "just like every other time you're expecting an international shipment, we've lost one of the important pieces, just like when we lost your stick grip for a month when you ordered A Winwing Orion.. We like to be consistent.") So, now packages get delayed all the time, right? (yeah, every time with FedEx...) But here's the deal. on the 24th of March Fedex said my entire shipment would be delivered on March 25th. On March 25th I got half of it, and then at 7:55 P.M. "your delivery has been delayed" On Saturday. "Delayed" On Sunday "Delivery by 8:00 P.M. 28th of March 2022." Here's the deal. The delivery requires a signature. Adult Signature. On Friday they delivered at 1205 just as I had to leave the house. I was ready to sign today... no delivery. So I'm rearranging my schedule to be home, every day they change the delivery time and don't show up. I want to see if my new rudder pedals will cause me less pain when I fly the AH64...but I can't because FEDEX. I can't get ahold of anyone at Fedex, I want to put my sim pit back together and get everything mounted, cords run, and everything. But...FedEx. So I'm grouchy, my leg hurts, and I'm annoyed at Fedex. My advice to anyone ordering Virpil, Winwing, VKB, Thrustmaster...whatever, pay the extra shipping and use DHL. Use the Pony Express or dog sleds, but don't use FedEx unless you want to wait for a month past the promised delivery date, fight with their customer service for 17 hours, rearrange your schedule repeatedly while they miss delivery dates. I'm fully expecting to never see those particular rudder pedals ( by serial number). I don't want to wait another month for Virpil to have FEDEX lose another set. So... where can I get a set of rudder pedals within a shorter time frame? Anyone have any ideas? Anyone have a used set of Virpil Ace pedals they want to sell? Use MFG crosswinds? Is there another company which makes a comparable set of adjustable rudder pedals with toe brakes? (Toe brakes are why I didn't order the VKB pedals.) Well this is the latest update on my Virpil experience. (Fedex...*sigh) -
You are welcome to drop by our squadron discord and ask someone for help. Every person has a slightly different flight sim setup, preferences. It does help to have someone to walk you though the bindings for different jets. Here's the link. Hope to see you there. https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn

Mik75, Here is what I do. I will have my stores page open to the JDAM or JSOW. Page sure each station is on Too mode, as it will revert to PP mode depending on what you touch. There is an option to see the coordinates that the weapon is headed to in too or pp mode. (Msm? I'm still not fully caffinated) Make your Tpod soi and scs left to cycle through modes (point track, area track, etc) once you find a target, TDC depress to designate it. Your mission coordinates should pop up with the coordinates which you can compare against what you tpod is looking at. (Make sure weapon is in too mode) Now, all that being said, it's hard to know what the exact problem is on a forum post. We welcome anyone and everyone at my squadron, and we all try and pass on the stuff we've learned. You are welcome to come by the discord and ask anyone you find for help with this. You can screen share or stream and someone can see exact what the problem might be. We've got a number of very knowledgeable Hornet drivers in the squadron who will have you sorted out in short order. Oh and we do squadron multi-player, and have some cool perks. (Discount codes from some manufacturers and such). Anyway, everyone is welcome, here's the link. Ask anyone there for help and you'll be taken care of. https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn

I'd like to request that the commands for controlling the search light be available as axis commands. Additionally, it would be aweful handy if I could bind "search light on off toggle" I got my virpil Alpha, and while I understand it is, at least in theory possible to map my analog stick on my alpha to a button, i'd rather not, and as a new user of Virpil software, I'm not exactly enjoying the software side of the experience. using "basic" control mode in the VPC software, it isn't possible to bind the mini analog stick as a button. (I'm sure I'll get it, but it's taking lots of time.) Yes, I know this is user error, as I'm sure 43 people will point out. Don't care, I would like the searchlight as an axis binding. It just adds more options on where you can put it on a varity of sticks, including the alpha, the VKB gladiator (EVO now?) I also know that 43 people will tell me that binding the searchlight is pointless, and I'll never use it. Okay, I like using the searchlight on helo's for night operations, take off from ships in low light, and all sorts of stuff. I like using my searchlights, and it's my Apache. Now that we got all the future "user error" comments out of the way, thank you, and I hope ED will consider putting the search light controls on a binding and adding a toggle on/off

Red23, welcome to DCS. I make the missions for my squadron, and we run our own server. [AIN_training] You can get the password from someone on our discord server. That all being said, I'll make sure we have some good P47 spawns and a couple TF51s. Give me 12 hours and it'll be up. If there are any questions or problems you're having don't hesitate to ask, message me, or ask on the AIN discord. Here's a link to the discord. https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn

persius Most People seem to run open beta if they plan on doing any multiplayer or get the latest updates and such. It has bugs, and it's open beta so it won't be perfect, but everything goes there first. If you just want to do single player, then stable is completely fine. If you have any questions we've got a good discord server where there are people who can answer any of your DCS questions. We pride ourselves in helping new player enjoy the sim we all love. Drop by at any time and ask questions. We also have sections with all the manuals, tutorials, guides, and we run our own training server from time to time. (Currently it's up, but it isn't always.) Out of our 4 admins, every single one of us is well versed in the F16 and F/A-18 (and many other jets and helicopters.) We'll get you up and flying something in a couple hours. Here's the link. https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn

Welcome to DCS. As you've seen, there are many people willing to help others learn the sim we all enjoy. There are squadrons around, including mine, which have good instructors able to answer just about any question about DCS. I personally disagree with the people who said the F16 is too complicated to start with. Yes it's complicated, but it'll also perform a wide variety of missions very well. Personally I found that it's easier to learn a module that you just love. One of my first jets in DCS was the Tomcat, and it's not really known for being simple and easy. But I love tomcats, so I enjoyed spending the time to learn it. (He'll, Still learning it...) I would vote for the F/A-Hornet as the best full fedility module to start on, but the F-16 is very high on that list. As you already have flown sims of that jet, it would be a great place to start. Anyway, welcome to DCS and we look forward to seeing you in the skies. If you have more question feel free to message me.
