  1. Yeah the Su-33 is it. Maybe get the PLAN J15 livery for it and the PLAN livery for the carrier. But the other PLAN aircraft haven't gone to the boat yet. They're testing the J35 on at their land-based carrier testing facility. The PLAN does have an AWCAS in development and while isn't not a copy of the E2, there are only so many ways to make a turbo prop twin engine radar plane for a carrier so it does look like the E2 at least superficially. Though I haven't seen any PLAN skins for the E2 yet, but I'm sure those will show up eventually. The PLAN uses helicopters we don't have models of in DCS. Until the Type 003 CV-18 starts trials and aircraft trials we won't really know what their CAG looks like on a CATOBAR carrier. Sorry I can't be more help, but the times are changing with the PLAN so every day brings something new if you follow those things.
  2. Several members of my squadron and I have the same bugs, and more... The F6 view stutters, shakes. Objects and aircraft in F2 sometimes do the same thing.
  3. The other day my squadron ran a night mission, and one of the F16 pilots asked if the F16 had an ILS. He said he'd used it, and it wasn't working. That was multiplayer on Persian Gulf landing on Minhad Runway 09. I checked the next day in my own mission. No mods just an F16 on approach to Incirlik runway 23. Again, no dice. The ILS needles are stuck inn full deflection and don't move. I got back with some of my guys and we went over everything together to make sure we were all setting it up properly, we were. So it looks like the F16 ILS is broken. I could not find any other reports on the F16 ILS system, and I know it's worked in the past because I've used it multiple times on different maps, including both PG and Syria. I've used it on Nevada I'm sure, and probably all the other maps where ILS systems are available.
  4. SickSidewinder9, Yes the IR Mav. The Weapon itself is fine, apparently from lately only tracking light poles if used around a road or something. The problem is that ships in DCS work on the hit point system. There are no internal compartments, there are no flooding or fire damage mechanics. The AGM-65F was made (in ship mode) to alter it's attack profile to hit a ship at the waterline as opposed to hitting a tank in the side or top. Waterline hits would in the real world, cause flooding. But since none of those factors are modeled in DCS, it really doesn't matter where the mav hits, as it's just taking hit points off the ship based on the hit point damage the weapon is coded with. In my testing the MAV F does go for the waterline, but since it doesn't matter it's up to the player how they want to use it.
  5. Aries101 You're welcome to come fly with AIN. We've got people all over the world, but most of us are USA. I'm east coast, we've got west coast and central time guys too. We're about 60% old military guys, but everyone is welcome. We do squadron missions once or twice a week, we have our own server for mission events. And we play a lot of multiplayers on the big multiplayer servers like Through the Inferno. We have people who fly everything from helos to warbirds, and a fair number of us have your JF17 and know how to use it. My favorites are navy jets and big twin engine fighters like the Tomcat and the F15E, but I fly everything. Most of our admins and moderators have all the maps and all the modules. Personally, I'm retired from the U.S. Army, so I can play whenever I want (wife permitting of course) We use discord, and as I said everyone is welcome, but not everyone fits in. Stop by and let's do some sorties. here's the invite link. https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn
  6. Matt, the ship mode kinda sorta works. What the mode does is change the aim point for the missile, ideally causing the weapon to hit the ship at the waterline to cause the most damage and flooding. Yes, that feature works. However, the damage model of all ships is really, really broken in DCS. (Castle class is one of the worst offenders). So, no weapon made for killing ships, really kills ships in DCS. (apart from the RB-04 and RB-15). So yeas the ship mode works. But since flooding damage isn't part of DCS, machinery damage to internal components isn't part of DCS etc, so the utility of using the ship mode for the AGM-65F is questionable.
  7. Today I went to see this helicopter, and they were offering rides to Veterans. Being a Veteran I of course took them up on that. This nonprofit are working to preserve fly UH-1 helicopters. I figured that the DCS community would be interested. I won't lie, I was grinning ear to ear when the helicopter began to shake as the blades spooled up. They strapped us in and left the doors open. We took off and flew around, the pilots even gave us a couple banking turns. The website is www.americanhuey369.com The helicopter I flew in (369) was a Dust off in Vietnam. And apparently one of their helicopters (the Huey gunship) flew in the battle of I Drang Valley. The Museum is located at 1697 W. 8. Some of the HAS in Israel won't work for the F15E. The jet fits, and will go in, but the spawn is slightly off and the tails hit the door on the way out. I've haven't' tried every slot yet But Ramon air base is the one I know is broken / wonky. I'll check more parking spots and test more jets. Thanks guys, and Good work on the map.
  9. Well I didn't know this was possible, but I did it. It was on Through the Inferno Sinai Map. We'd just gotten back from a 2+ hour mission and several AAR's each, I guess we'd drained the tanker a bit, because when I got there for my post climb out AAR, the tanker was tanking.
  10. These head trackers are so good it's silly. I love mine. Keep up the good work Hollywood!
  11. Paco, I'm glad to see you're getting options. The DCS community is pretty great that way. I run AIN (Arrorian Imperial Navy). We're open to anyone and everyone, but our core group is ex military, Army, Air Forces, Marines, and a Navy guy or two. We also have Uk Military, a fair number of private pilots, some commercial pilots. No matter what module, airplane or helicopter you want to fly, we've got someone who can help you learn it. We had a group of guys who fly warbirds, about half of our guys fly at least one helicopter, and there isn't a question about the Hornet that someone won't be able to answer very quickly. You're welcome to come by and check us out, as is anyone else. Like I said we're open to everyone. He's the discord link, https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn Good luck in your squadron search, and we'll see you in the skies.
  12. A VT fuse is (should...) explode at a preset height above ground level. However, I don't know how those fuses are modeled in DCS. So they might very well be fusing based on barometric (ASL) AS for seeing and locating the targets, try the AG radar, and if the target is moving use GMT as that will pick them up quickly. Then drop CCRP (AUTO) on the target instead of trying to go low and grad a visual on the target. I managed to get hits, but because of the damage modeling, did almost no damage to the targets.

    F-15C Practice

What stick are you using? I've never had curves on the F15, so it makes me curious. I'm also of the "don't hamfist and you won't need curves" school. And check if you turned off the pitch stability control by accident. (It's bindable, but I can't remember the default.)
  14. I would train the hornet in the following ways. 1) Basic flight, take off and landing. (If you want to operate from the boat, make these Carrier landings and carrier patters.) 2) NAVIGATION! Learn the nav system FIRST! learn how to input coordinates, how to fly to a waypoint, how to program Lat/ Long Standard, Lat / Long Precise, MGRS, and MGRS precise. Learn how to program and fly to a tacan station. Almost all the air to ground weapons in the hornet rely at least partly on the jet knowing where it is. Once you learn NAV in the hornet, everything else falls into place easier. 3) Learn the Air to air radar. Know what the settings are, TWS / RWS, azimuth, bar scan, and PRF. Know what all those are, why they matter, and when to use which. 4) Learn CCIP and CCRP bombing with UNGUIDED bombs. 5) Learn the Ground Radar modes. Know how to find a ship using the SEA mode of the radar. Learn how to find a Ship using the MAP mode of the radar. Learn how to find a ground target (fixed target like an air point or breakwater) 6) Learn the targeting pods. Know how to slave the TGP to ground level, how to slave the TGP to the AA radar to VIP targets. 7) Learn how to AAR. The options for what you can do in the hornet expand considerably when you can stop and tank up with gas. While this isn't mandatory, if you practice it will become second nature to just go and hit a tanker whenever you can. Suddenly you can fly that just much further, stay on cap station longer, and you don't need to push bad approaches to the boat because of a low fuel state. Learn to tank and the only way to do that is to practice, practice, practice. 8 ) Learn how to use IR guided weapons, IE the Walleye, the AGM-65F. Learn how to slave those seekers to the TGP, or a helmet, or a point on the air to ground radar. You can't always use the targeting pod, so that air to ground radar can prove super useful as DCS is programed to ALWAYS put a cloud over ground units. (I'd bet money it's in the programing somewhere.) 9) learn all the laser guided weapons. the GBU-12, AGM-65E, the GBU16, GBU24, GBU10. Know how to lase for yourself and know how to use the laser spot tracker to find a JTAC laser or buddy laser. Learn how to buddy lase and swap out codes, etc. 10) Learn how to program and deliver GPS guided weapons in all modes. Use the SLAM and SLAM ER in pre-planned mode, and TOO mode. Learn how to use the man in the loop data link for the SLAM- SLAM-ER, and Walleye. Learn which JSOW to use on which type of target, and how to program and find those targets with the radar, the TGP, or from a message from a wingman or whatever. (also GBU38's and such) 11) Low visibility / night and case III operations. Know how to fly the jet at night or in extremely bad weather, navigating to your target, then home again, with stops at the tanker. 12) At some stage, and it doesn't really matter when, once you're at stage 5, learn to use the Harpoon anti-ship missile. Learn the difference between Bearing only launch, range and bearing launch, harpoon turn point, and couple that with the sea radar. Learn why and when harpoon turn point is useful, and when to simply hip fire the pointlessly useless anti-ship missile. (ship damage modes are very... bad. Harpoons don't kill ships, RB-04's and Walleye's do. learn it anyway.) If you've learned navigation, carrier operations, AAR, and how to use all the weapons, you'll be a fair hornet driver. There's more, much more you can do, but most folks don't have much interest in that. Here's my final piece of advice on learning the hornet. Make it a point to ALWAYS bring the jet home. No it won't always happen. But if you fly it with the purpose of bringing it home, you fly better, get better at fuel management, you'll get better at navigation, and obviously, you'll get better at landing. I hope that helps you out, and feel free to message me either here or on discord if you have any questions or run into something that's giving you trouble. I'm Dscross#3705 on discord. Good luck, and have fun with that jet.

    F-15C Practice

I tank the F14 regularly. It's one of the more demanding aircraft to AAR, but it isn't terrible But yeah a combo of large fuel tanks, overbearing trim speed, and canopy bow do make it more challenging than for example the Hornet, which is a baby to AAR, and second only to the M2000 in ease of tanking. (in my opinion, at least for me.) But I think tanking the A10 is easy, and lots of people say they have problems with it.
  16. Thanks I check it out! Is there anymore information you can give us? Theme? Map? Anything? I'll check it out, but I'm sure others will have questions as well.
  17. The M4 Inf at that airfield could just be changed to the "Infantry M4 Georgia" and maybe moved off the runway. I guess it depends on what you want them to be. If they're Delta they'd stand around with their hands in their pockets no giving a F*^#, if they're Rangers, they would move to overwatch positions and secure the perimeter of the airfield. Just and Idea, but if you want to go all in, maybe deactivate those Infantry M4 troops, and then "static activate" a group of "Infantry M4 Georgia" putting up FARP tents or something. Make it look like they are securing the field and preparing it for operations by Allied forces. Also, I'm Dscross#3705 on Discord. So far, I'm very happy with "Inherent Resolve" and how the missions are done. Anyway I'd be happy to help you with any future projects. I've got a massive stack of flight manuals, NATOPS, etc. I'm willing to do Voice overs, and I'm former U.S. military. I also run a squadron and we've got people from all over the world if you need a specific accept or voice it's likely there's someone in the squadron that would fit. (Arrorian Imperial Navy, AIN). In the past I haven't had much interest in DLC campaigns, but I'm finding how fun they can be. Here's the discord link as well. https://discord.gg/JuBydbsfDn Thanks for being so responsive to feedback, you're a credit to Eagle Dynamics.
  18. I have that skin, those look great. But in the airfield mission a gaggle of M4 Inf are standing in the middle of the airfield after "mission success".
  19. Same thing just happened to me. FYI, there's no ammo, and ramming didn't work. It just reset the mission and reloaded... without ammo...
  20. First let me start by saying this is a fun campaign. It's a good time. But I did find a few bugs and problems in a otherwise great campaign. First, and this isn't nessarly a bug, just a question of briefing. There is no time / place set aside for the player to go and hit the tanker. The messages make it pretty clear that you need to follow the waypoints. Personally, I like to tank before hitting the target, and after. From the books I've read of combat pilots, and my own military experiences, you get fuel and chow whenever you can, no matter how much you have already. Furthermore, in mission two the player is told the tanker is a KC130. It's not, it's a MPRS KC135, and the tacan for it doesn't work. Second. My wingman won't ever go hit the tanker or reattack. I tanked on mission 1 on the way back to Incirlik, but no matter what I did, my wingman wouldn't. It's fine he didn't run out of gas, but it was annoying to try and figure out why he wouldn't. Okay, mission 2 (hitting the airfield with delta) could have gone better. I trigged the "Mission Fail" message because some of delta got killed, but then I got "Mission Sucess" when I killed the last REDFOR guy with my gun. I make missions for my squadron and myself so I know how frustrating it can be to try and get the AI to do anything. So here's a request, make "Delta" invisible. That way the supper accurate AI who isn't bleeding from the ears after all the bombs hit around them, don't kill delta. Oh, I also chuckled when I saw the Bradly. Kinda hard to airlift those with a CH-47, but I get why they were used. If the Delta was just infantry, they'd get smoked. My suggestion would be make delta invisible and just use HUMVE's and infantry. Also the M4 infantry looks like garbage. (I know not the developer's fault.) would it be possible to change the delta guys to M4 GRG infantry? lower the polygon count a bit. Okay so I just finished playing Mission 3, and I died. How you ask? Well I went for the convoy and took a few rounds. It killed my entire electric system. I still had engine power so I used my backup compass and headed north. I found Hatay and made possibly one of the best approaches I've ever made. Guess what? There were fuel trucks I didn't see on the runway, and I crashed. Great landing, great approach, and big fireball. Next there is the A10's in mission 3. OMG! um, this is DCS. Hogs don't carry tanks in combat. They're only rated for ferry flights. and from Incirlik, why would they need them? Please, please, please take those tanks off the A10's. In the book "Hogs in the sand" the author talks about common payloads for the A10. (First gulf war, but it would be a good starting place.) In that book, on Gulf war day one the author was carrying 6 x MK82 and 2x AGM 65, an ECM pod, and 2X AIM-9 which he was worried he would remember how to use because they didn't train with them. Bottom line, no fuel tanks on Hogs please. If you need it, put up a tanker and tell the AI to go refuel. Next, can the briefing get fixed on the missions? It tells me to land and park on Apron, which in my American mind means somewhere on the ramp. But I found out, it means bring the jet back to the original parking spot. Can this be fixed so people instead get a message of "Nice landing, return your jet to parking spot 19 (or whatever) for debriefing" that way it's clear to everyone where you're supposed to go. Alternatively, a "follow me" car could be made to spawn when the player returns and such and guides them to the correct spot. Okay lastly, (so far) and this is just a pet peeve of mine, OMG I hate the CUB99 and MK20 on the hornet. In rea life cluster bombs are extremely deadly. But ground units don't have anything close to a proper damage model in DCS. A CBU99 does mostly nothing to a BTR. Furthermore, at the time the campaign is set, the U.S. military very rarely used cluster bombs against ISIL/ DAESH. Preferring LGB's, JDAM's and Laser guided rockets and stuff. Personally, I'm always hesitant to switch my payload in case the bombs are hooked to a "Bomb in zone" trigger or something. Sometimes I do anyway and such, but I'm always nervous about breaking the mission. When I do switch, I try and stay with the spirit of the mission by brining unguided bombs like the MK83 (accurate and has some actual splash damage). Mk82's don't really have splash in DCS. I love the unguided stuff, well and the guided stuff, but I digress. Overall Inherent Resolve is great fun, and while I consider myself fairly experienced in the Hornet, i don't think new players would have too much trouble getting warheads on foreheads in this campaign. Oh I almost forgot. What skin am I supposed to be using? First time loading the mission is was clear there was some skin I was supposed to be using, but either I don't have it, or it wasn't showing up. So I change the skin's now, so it doesn't look silly. (Overlapping tail numbers, I'm sure everyone who plays multiplayer has seen it at some point.) Thanks for the Campaign, it's great fun. Now I'm going to re-fly mission 3 and try and avoid fire/ fuel trucks, lol.
  21. Ping me here or on Discord ( Dscross#3705) I have both a printed and digital F15 E flight manual. I'll message you pictures (within reason) of anything you want. I have the printed F4 Phantom and F4U manuals as well. Just let me know what you need. (Tomcat's NATOPS as well, but everyone has one of those)
  22. Guys, I hate to break up the party... but I too wondered about how the F15E will fare inside the merge. I tested it. I put AI F15E's in, gave them half fuel and only guns. I got in my F14B, full fuel, 4 AIM-54, 2 AIM-7, 2 AIM-9. I only used guns. It was the same every time I ran it. The F15E went into the merge, and within 1/2-1 turn my tomcat was behind it and I was putting 20mm into the Eagle. EVERYTIME. So, I tried the F14A. Same result. I lowered the fuel in the Mudhen, fully loaded an F14A. Again, dead F15E in very short order. I personally sort of dislike the F16. Its whatever, but it's just not my favorite. I flew it anyway, and again I was behind that Mudhen very quicky and gunning it. Hornet... Same, inside the merge it ALWAYS resulted in a dead F15E. The Mirage 2000 was just silly as in all the others, a dead eagle in very short order. Now I'm not a guy who gets on PvP dogfight servers and does that. It's not my thing. I like intricate long missions to strike something, hit a tanker, all that. That's what I like. So I generally avoid merging with stuff unless I'm in my Tomcat and doing CAP. Then I'm game. But close in dogfighting just doesn't hold much interest for me. (Partly because I generally fly PVE and the AI flight model is stupid broken.) I can do it if I have to, but I'm not the best. Radio navigation? that's neat. So If I can almost effortlessly slap an AI F15E with a fully loaded Tomcat (no I didn't jettison anything) then I'd venture to guess most of you ACM addicts can slap one pretty quickly. The F15E has a TON of drag from those bomb racks. (The Dash-1 is on amazon, and it lists drag index's for the jet, go get your copy). As a side note, I also put a 4 ship if F15Es' up, have them 2 bags, 2 x AIM-9 and 6 x AIM-120's. Three of us from the squadron got in Hornets and went to get them. We got smoked. BVR the F15E is MEAN. it can go fast and chuck those AMRAMS out at long range. When the E does come out, and you're in your PVP playland, avoid it if you're in something you're not comfortable in. Guns only? well, I'm sure a reasonable Hog driver can kill it. (Never mind, Hog drivers never jettison, even if they're on fire with one wing. "I can make it home..." lol. you guys know who you are...) Of course, this is all dependent on how well the flight model on the in game F15E is. I can't answer that. I've put them in missions and tried to compare the AI flight performance to the F15E Dash 1, but... Meh... So, take this all with a grain of salt. But you can test it, get mission editor up, toss in some F15Es, fight them, see how you do. Run the same test with F15C's and compare the results. Again, my best bet is that if you know your jet, you'll probably be okay against an F15E inside the merge. And you'll probably be in trouble if the F15E has BVR missiles.

    F-15C Practice

I've be practicing AAR with the F15C as well. I make it a point to ALWAYS bring three bags to add some weight and drag. If I'm just going up to tank I also load AIM-7s as they look bigger and I assume they're modeled for a little more drag. I suppose I could test the speed of an F15 and Hornet with Sparrows instead of AIM-120s, but I'm just assuming here. Anyway, I make the jet as heavy as possible and as much drag as I can give it, then I go tank. lately there seems to be an on/ off again bug where the boom tankers won't call "transfer complete" in the F15. today I was flying my Tomcat and tanked that from 9000 pounds to full. While the Tomcat isn't a boom refuel and it uses the basket, it's a big Jet with lots of stuff hanging off. I also try and Tomcat tank the F14 while carrying a Targeting pod and 4x GBU16 for the weight and drag. In the mission editor the AI F15E has around 38,000 pounds of gas, so either way you're going to be sitting under the tanker for a bit if you've got 3 tanks plus internal fuel to fill. Do I think I'll need to tank often in the F15E? Nope. Will I? you bet. I've also been putting time in tanking various A10's with payloads, but I don't really think that compares much (apart from both using a boom.) Apart from the failure of the tanker to sometimes tell you that you're full in the F15 C, the flow rate of the fuel seems off. One of the guys in my squadron was a crew chief on a KC135, and he seems sure that the flow rate on the KC135 in DCS is wrong, as in too slow. I am hoping that the flow rate is adjusted for the KC135, but either way, it's good practice to stay behind the tanker. I'm glad I'm not the only one hitting the tanker in my F15C. But again, if you have the Tomcat, I'd say tanking any big 2 engine jet is going to be useful practice. EDIT: I'm now wondering how tanking the F4 will be, as that cockpit wasn't known for great visibility. That'll be fun!
  24. Same problem here. I removed those files from the liveries folder. At first my game won't load. "Logging in" for several minutes now. I forced it to close as it was stuck. Rebooted the game and logged right in. The Mirrors work in the Tomcat properly now after having deleted that cockpit mod. (Just to be sure I trashed all the Cockpit and paint F14 liveries. Works now. Now I guess I go work on the other bugs... *sigh* But seriously thank for figuring this out. I didn't even remember I had that cockpit mod installed until I read your post.
