You have "allow unknown sources" option on under general settings in Oculus Home?
-
Hi buddy. There is a mess with cannon sounds indeed. For a long time the f15 vulcan audio has been shared with GSh301In sound. Since the Gazelle module introduction the file has been located also in CoreMods folder, which has priority over common Sounds folder. I'm talking about 1.5 release, don't know about OB or 2.0 OA, but its probably the same situation. Anyways, I wanted to replace the sound myself so I can share: JGSME ready proper M61A1 audio. If it works for you then you owe me cold Heineken. F15C Vulcan.rar

Option to set world scale / Enlarge / Reduce (airplane)

I didn't say that IPD is a problem. -
Help i see no smoke trails Gigabyte gtx 1080

Just to be sure, you mean russian missiles? Because AIM120 for example does not create this heavy smoke trail. Have you tried R-27ET? -
Option to set world scale / Enlarge / Reduce (airplane)
hubson replied to misoswan's topic in Virtual Reality
The scale being off for some users is a known issue in cv1. It has been acknowledged by oculus staff and they are looking into that. The problem is that the rift runtime misreports the IPD settings (lens slider) and keeps it stuck on default (64). So people with IPD value much smaller or bigger then 64 see things too big or too small. Hopefully they fix it soon.. -
Thanks. It really does sound nice, sadly, it's far from perfect. The main reason is it's playing in the loop making the sound often not synchronized with the actual position of the plane in regard to the observer ( F3 camera). Also - playing in the loop in static F2 camera view makes it totally unrealistic and unacceptable. That is why I would love ED to add some new definitions to sound files -especially: loop = true / false; Doppler effect = true / false . At least just for testing for modders. There many interesting points in this thread. I'm kind of suprised though that nobody referred to this funny famous game I mentioned- Battlefield. Sure, there are just like four or five repeating over and over fly by sounds but.. Those jets don't just ''sound'' like jets- they do sound like real jets just like on freaking airshow! What you think? Anyways, my two cents for all the newcomers and impatient guys: what I've noticed over looong years watching ED team doing their work (since Lockon, I guess) , you can be sure of one thing - it can take ages to complete some tasks and we'll be all grandpaps by then, but, it will be done right eventually. Now lets see this air to ground radar and blow things up with the new explosions effects!

Doppler effect is implemented in the sim and it works just fine. Despite that flyby sounds could be better - therefor the poll and discussion.

Well the ball is on ED's side. My wish/suggestion for developers is to implement one additional sound for flyby only. It supposed to be played once (not in the loop) when the plane passes the external camera (spectator). I think thats how the sound of sonic boom was implemented in some previous instalments of LockOn. Now its not used anymore (but still present in sounds folder in DCS). I know that this solution is a "shortcut" in such ambitious project like DCS but I belive it could work well -like in BF4. Does anyone agree?
-
Hueyman, I can't stress enough how much I admire the beauty of the jet fighter sound and how important it is to me in the sim. I couldn't agree more with you that pursuing the "proper simulation" of the jet wave is pointless - it will be years before we get this, if ever. I think the best approach to this had developers of BF4. They used prerecorded flyby sounds and blended them smoothly into static engine audios. The effect is perfect imo. Here is an example: Here is my try to achive something similar in DCS: I wish the sound was higher on ED priority list, but thats me.

DCS World environmental shaders mod

Here they are:thumbup: Clouds & Sky complete v5.29 standard.rar -
Have a look at these samples: SearchWarning, Scan, Lock, Launch in LOFC 2/Sounds/Effects folder. Replace them with US sounds and you're ready to go.
-
My findings: FC3 F-15C uses VulcanCannon.wav for external sounds and, (you were wright), Gsh301in.wav for in-cockpit sound of the cannon. No ideal solution to this atm, I'm afraid.

Once the jet slows down the front seater can hear everything the back seater said but with delay :music_whistling:

The only working engine sound for Sabre seems to be Enginejet.wav wright now. Definitely a placeholder.

Mustang, could you give some hints how to get version 5.29 (my favourite) to work with 1.2.9? I agree with the others that it is one of best mods for visuals, really appreciated. -

I'm not a fan of the background music during the airshows, I prefer to hear raw engine roar. Apart from that, you did an amazing job on the sounds. And there is some nice flying, too. Well done. (and happy New Year!)

Warning! This chick might take you away from DCS for a while.. Calm down
