  1. That video is really cool! Looks aweful!
  2. Wasn't the OA-10 the two-seater???
  3. Uhm... he's talking about video editing not flight-analysis. But else you're right...
  4. RIAT Website I plan to visit this years show. Anybody else from these forums?

    Scale modeling

These days the internet is the best friend of newcomers to the hobby. Study as many build-reports and tutorials as you can find and you should be ready to give it a try. But expect a bit of money it costs to get the basic equipment needed. Start HERE!

No problem mate! I did the base coat, then post-shading, than clear gloss. After decaling I finished the coating with an enamel clear flat. For the dirt-wash I used water-colors (the ones the small kids use for painting). Make a mixture of black and brown to get your favourite dirt-brown. Now this have to be massively thinned with water (somehow like a puddle on a street). Apply this mixture with your airbrush. At this stage you don't have to care about the amount as a lot will be removed again. You can work bit by bit, and don't have to spray the whole AC in one flow. What you now need is a sponge. Look for the finest structure you can get. Now wet the sponge and press as much water as possible out of it again. Then you can start to gently dipp the surface with the sponge. This will take a long to get a feeling how it works out best. You'll also have to cut different little pieces off the sponge so you can reach every part of the surface. In case you removed to much "dirt" you can simply spray some on again and repeat the procedure. After you're done and the "coat" has cured or better said dried, you can use a rubber to remove it from certain parts (bay doors, panel-lines, etc.). Just try! I did it the first time myself and it was very much "learning by doing". The good thing is, that it is water solvent, so you can always remove it and try again. Once you're done, you're done. There will be no further coating, as that might massively change the appearance of the weathering.

Been shopping... Want to convert it to the "C", but it seems like aftermarket doesn't offer anything... Most things will need to be done by scratch, starting with the cockpit. What worries me the most atm is, that there are no "C"-model decals. Gonna search a bit more, maybe I'll be lucky. However, it will definetly get the Aires Cockpit. I'll just have to rework the front panel to make it a "C".
  8. ED decided to do the "A" instead of the "C" cause you all have been pissing them off. Now those "minor" changes will need some time. Thank you for your understanding and patience! :D
  9. In case Jim Mack decides to hand me some raw files I'll give it a shot and see what I can do.
  10. Just come over to the LLTM! :D
  11. So maybe you should do that job instead of me, as for now I don't know what to do exactly to match my personal needs... ;)
  12. I asked igormk if he could provide raw data of the map. He answered that I'd need to ask Jim as the map is not igormks exclusive work. Now just to let you know why I asked for it: Rather than having this one large map printed, I'd like to have some kind of low-colour version of the map, so one could print just the part he needs for a specific mission. Flying 1-2 missions a week would heavily stress my printers toner, which is why I thought of a more minimalsitic version of the map. If some of you like this idea I'd like to offer my help to this project by trying what I can achieve in reducing the colour intensity.
  13. Neg rep for finding someone not funny is kinda hard... Especially in this super-serious thread... :D
  14. Reading the "Flying the A-10 in Desert Storm" book, let's me think the pilots are mostly quite clueless about what hit them and where. All such scenarios described in the book let them recognize they were hit mostly by loosing systems and/or controls. Maybe some of the guys over from "Warthog Territory" can ask their pilots who been down there how it feels and sounds like beeing hit by AAA or IR-Missiles?!
  15. Yeah, forum traffic ate all the money...
  16. I meant you'd need to able to talk the commands instead of pressing buttons. And by that I don't mean: "Engage - Target - WeaponType - Tactic" I don't know if we're so far already... The problem with arma is not knowing the command structure. It's the fact that they simply often give a sh!t about what you tell them...
  17. Geez, that thing ain't even developed to it's final stage and therefor not yet cleared for each intended weapon system etc. etc. etc. Forget it for the next 15-20 years... Further it cockpit looks like a video game - that sucks. ;)
  18. 1. Those infinite comm-menus waste to much time in combat situations (this is also valid for actual wingie communication, which is the reason why flying with an online squadron is 100 times better than with those AI bots). 2. How well does it work in ArmA to get the guys do exactly what you want them to do??? please don't answer this one...
  19. I get your point! You're talking about Trainer-Versions of specific aircraft. But in my eyes this is more a secondary feature of having a two seater. I'd guess most of us here want to fly an operational two seater, where both guys have real jobs when it comes to blow things off. And when we talk about this kind of two-seater, all the previous mentioned issues become valid.
  20. Oh, I didn't understand it as a serious question. :music_whistling:
  21. Beyond Expectation Terribly Annoying??? Something like that... :D
  22. You have a lot points there, that I also had in mind. It's sure makeable, but how good would be???
  23. Love it! It was my first sim. It even had Carrier-Ops...
  24. Forums Policy - Or when a pic says more than a thousand words... :D
  25. Of course you could control the aircraft from the back in some cases (as long as you're not doing something which is controlled by the stick of the back-seater), but wouldn't it be sweet to see where you're flying to??? ;) If the aircraft would be on DCS-standards you will NOT be able to do both jobs simultaneously. About guys want to be pilot or navigator: For virtual squadrons I think all members would need to be capable of both jobs, just because for each training there will someone missing and thereby you may end up with 4 pilots and 6 navigators -> messed up.
