You will usually have to fit your speed/climb speed to your CDU-requested IAS in missions with given TOTs. You could also find yourself in a mission where you'd additionally have to take fuel burn into acoount also. I'd say besides a minimum safe climb speed there are not too many procedure-side-restrictions on how you would climb rather than mission-timing/threat-related factors. Finally all depends on the mission builder and the pilot(s) how far they want this thing to go. At least there are enough tables, charts and numbers available, to do some hardcore realistic flight planning, taking into acount stuff like weight, weather, loadout-drag, TOT, fuel capacities, changes in grossweight after dropping ordnance,...

EXACTLY!!! A lot more stuff than I'd have ever expected! TY ED!

Hi Carolus and welcome! 1. Have a look at the Beta 5 Update posting by Wags (find it at the "official updates" sub-forum). 2. No dynamic campaign (at least not with the release of the A-10C). 3. Next module type of aircraft will be announced somewhen after the release of the A-10C.

I also see no sense in open servers, as the kind of flying this sim deserves, is not possible by just jumping into a running mission. There needs to be a briefing, so that everybody knows the master-plan and his role within. Limitations, Procedures, Comms, ... There is so much that makes open servers kind of useless... I could imagine missions, that are announced on public forums (including a briefing), where people can sign a slot to take part (like a LOCERF for example). This way squadless pilots could take part in a complex MP-mission. But this will have to wait until the software is "final". However, still then, too low skills of one could ruin the mission for all. And that is why I'll keep flying with my squadmates only, and maybe with guys from squads I know for flying on a similar level of realism.

The VF-103 "Sluggers" flew the "A", without bombing-capacities, as far as I know. They got the "B"-update after they became VF-103 "Jolly Rogers". But nice screenshots! EDIT: 1989 from A to A+ (B) -> 1990 "Sluggers" became "Jolly Rogers" -> 1995 LANTRIN Upgrade. -
More than doubtful! But I wouldn't mind taking a F/A-18C instead... :D

Or a lua-modified viewpoint of the F2,F3 or F4 view...

Fire 10 missiles, hit 5 of them. Makes a ratio of 0.5.

Maybe updating DirectX would work.

Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X vs Zotac GTX470 AMP
Laud replied to Laud's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Over here the 2gb card is significantly more expensive than the 1gb version. Further I'm gonna plug my 24" + a 8" TouchScreen. I think the 1gb card can handle that. -
No doubt about it! Too bad it's quite unlikely to happen. I swear I would pay 100Ђ or maybe even more for that piece of software and I'm sure a lot more would too...

Do you think a single 5870 would be much "slower" in regards to DCS? -

Anybody?? -
The mission-builder will have control of how realistic his mission will be, so DCS offers a really wide spectrum of how missions can look like. It's just like ArmA: If you can't handle the editor, you're screwed! ;)

How about putting the .miz-file in a .rar/zip. ? LOFC missions used to get corrupted when transfered unpacked. -

NP mate! When turning from downwind to final, I set speed completely according to my AOA Speed Indexer. Procedure-specs (basically speed) are not valid from this point on, as things highly depend on various factors. The AOA-Speed Indexer is a very useful instrument for the final approach! -
Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X vs Zotac GTX470 AMP

After having seen Teej mentioning the MSI Afterburner Tool I gave it a try. My settings: - Everything High (except water on low) - Civ Traffic off - AA8x, TSSAA on, HDR on - Res.: 1920x1080, MFCDs @ 512 Result: CPU @ 50-65% load GPU @ 85-99% load Looks like a new Card will do the trick! ;) See my sys-specs in my sig! -

And I repeat to say that the turn to final will NOT be at 60°! Maybe re-read my posting! -
Once again a graphics-card thread... I narrowed it down to two (three) cards atm: 1. Sapphire HD5870 Vapor-X 1GB 2. Club 3D HD5870 PCS+ 1GB ...both are a little bit OCed... 3. Zotac GTX470 AMP edition When it comes to performance they're all close to each other. What I'm not sure about is picture quality. I heard rumors about both, Ati and nVidia, that there might by some issues (maybe driver related?). Can those who own one of these cards maybe drop a short line about their experiences please?!? BTW: No, I'll not go for a HD69xx, as their price/performance ratio doesn't look too impressive...
