This is one scary statement!!! "Surprised" would mean to me "none of the most expected aircraft" (F-16, F15C/E, F-18C/D). Going through the USAF/USN inventory, everything else would be "too classified to model it proper" or a "D'Oh!" ... I see myself end up in the Warthog because the next module sucks...

TY for the links Kuky!
-
Wow Kuky, that looks really nice! Need to try that! Would you mind to share information about the visibility modifications, mentioned by Mustang, in this thread? Or is there a dedicated thread somewhere?
-
I hope it will remain as it is! For healths sake... :)

Too bad... Every other method (the RL one I guess) gives me an aching neck... :( EDIT: Then the tutorial is of course CANCELED.

I work on a small tutorial how to setup lights and NVGs. As it is not done yet, I'll give you a short version without pics: 1. Turn on Battery and Inverter (Flood Light & ENG INST lights should now be available). If it's too dark to find the switches, turn on your NVGs. Turn them off again once you got some light in your cockpit. 2. Power up your APU + APU GEN (all internal lights are now available) 3. Set all internal lights to the lowest suitable level. 4. Proceed with your normal startup. 5. Once MFCDs are running: set both to NIGHT and set brightness to "0" 6. Once HUD is running: set it to NIGHT Once startup is finished and aircraft ready for taxi: 7. Engage NVGs (you want to have taxi lights OFF at this time) 8. Set NVG intensity so you can read your MFCDs without problems. Check back wether you still have enough outside picture! NOTE: Water, displayed on the TADs moving-map may cause some dazzle. Ignore that! If the rest looks good, you're good! 9. Fine tune MFCD, HUD and internal lights brightness. 10. Disengage NVGs. 11. Turn on taxi lights. -> You're ready to taxi! 12 Re-engage your NVGs after TakeOff.

The last days we (our squadron) talked a lot about the usage of the dynamic weather in future missions. We came to the conclusion, that it would be necessary to be provided with a target area weather report (observer reported and available in the briefing already, or at least requestable via radio in-flight). Without knowing winds, QNH, fog and cloud density and height you can't really do a proper flight- and attack-planning. And, as mentioned above already: Being able to put the weather of planned airbases to use (departure + arrival) into the briefing would also be important. For alternatives however, weather could be requested by radio in-flight, ones the decision is made to land at an airbase other than pre-planned.

Both correct!

How about a closed (read only) dedicated thread for that, so one can more easily find the information!??

I also prefer to waste my time in the cockpit and forums instead of reading the BS people post at facebook... :joystick: :book: :music_whistling:

Old thread, but I have a question left: In the Dash-1 there is the "Electrical System and Power Distribution" diagramm, which says: "With Inverter Switch in OFF no power is supplied to the AC essential buses from any source". The diagramm also shows that the Inverter needs to be at STBY to allow the L+R AC Buses to distribute power to the AC essential buses. That would mean Inverter OFF -> AC essential buses off power - no matter which systems are running or not. ???

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

Gun-Training targets made from cardboard... -
Do you have a link to that kit? Never seen one.

I told my girlfriend I could easily spend 1000-2000€ there within less than one hour... The books they got are really amazing. Unfortunately the one I was looking for was sold out (The Warthog guide).

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)
Laud replied to rekoal's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Well, the server ran the free-flight mission for testing purposes. So we thought it's not that important to get the pilots on comms. ;) Great you had fun! -
Tower always takes the wrong RWY in regards to the set wind direction. So actually those who follow it's takeoff-instructions are maybe the idiots... :music_whistling: No seriously, I understand your point in general, but I always takeoff on the opposite direction the tower advises, because that way I know I will takeoff against the wind. But I really feel you when it comes to all the other annyoing issues of an open MP-Server.
-
And even worse: The tower always lets you start with backwind (directs you to the wrong RWY)... :(

I've been on a trip to Amsterdam last weekend, to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriend and some buddies. Guess what I brought home with me? Yeah, a Mudhen Kit and the according book! :D

A really great step for the whole DCS environment! Love the dynamic weather. Just two really important things are missing to handle weather conditions properly from the pilots view: 1. A METAR (for the used airbases) (maybe auto-generated) available in the Mission-Briefing. 2. A weather report from ATC which has NOT missing the decimals (now: QFE29 -> should read: QFE29,xx), so you can set up your altimeter according to the place you're going to land at. And btw.: The overcast generated from "normal" clouds looks way better than the standard weather overcast effect. But I expect it to be more performance-killing? However, keep it coming! Looking forward to your ongoing work.

Wow! Thats exactly what I was looking for and didn't realize it is available! I thought about (Client) CAS-Flights beeing able to call in SEAD or Fighters, or clear a certain area for ground forces / rescue units to advance to. Even while I'm not a bit religious, I'm praying each day, that the next patch will hopefully fix all those "big impact" MP issues (like SPI sending / aerial refueling / trigger conditons / client crashes / ...). Else it's hard to provide your squadron a weekly training environment that is at a DCS-worth level. DCS could be so much more than it is actually... Especially if ED would also have had some community features included (thinking about a ME clone function for client AC for example :music_whistling: ). Sorry for getting a bit OT here...
-
But the question why the map-view options have been reduced for the ME remains. Same goes for the question wether it will be available again sometime in the future. The workaround is kinda annoying... while it could be so much more simple...

You mean a trigger that can be activated by the pilot via a radio command??? Never knew this is possible. I was just about asking for such a feature (knowing it from ArmA). Is it explained in the manual??? If not could anybody give a short "How-to"? TY!
