  1. Just got my Aero yesterday and I'm kind of disappointed... Main issues: Struggle to find a comfortable fit. I place the HMD on my face and then start adjusting the back strap, following the top strap and then the angle. Sweet spot is very disappointing, especially in desktop mode. I was expecting near edge to edge clarity but for me only the inner 50ish% of the screen is clear. It gets very blurry going outside of that, to the point where text is unreadable. Though it is much better than the G2. Hoped it would be comparable to the Quest Pro, which in my case it is not. I can also clearly see where the sweet spot starts and ends(?!), almost like a half circled white blurry line. I can see the right edge with my left eye and vice versa. I guessed this was maybe due to incorrect IPD? The automated IPD gives me 62.5, while my optician says 60. But adjusting the IPD manually does not improve it. Any suggestions? In the G2 the sweet spot just faded into a blurry mess but here I see a clear separation. Is this a fit issue or hardware issue? Vertical FOV is also lackluster compared to the Meta Quest Pro and G2. I can live with it but I can clearly see the bottom of the lenses giving reflections from the screens. Sort of two horizontal white bars, one under each eye. They become more visible depending on what the displays are showing. Again, fit or hardware issue? Not being able to run all my monitors + the HMD is a funny downside (speaks volumes to the Aero's resolution). My setup is a 34'' 3440x1440 as a main monitor and a 27'' 4k as a secondary monitor. To get the 4090 to run my Aero I have to disconnect one monitor. The 4090 ran the G2 and both monitors at once just fine. I hope these issues are mainly due to me not getting the correct fit. So any tips on how you go about adjusting would be great. Don't get me wrong, the clarity is very good and by far the best I've seen. I also get very good performance with a 4090 and 5800X3D with SteamVR. OpenComposite does not work for me, probably have to do a repair and reinstall. EDIT: Regarding sweet spot: and FOV: It appears just to be a reflection of the displays. The outer edge of the lenses are covered in a very reflective material, maybe that's the source of both issues? Doesn't seem to be removable. See attached photo, these sections of the lens frame are creating reflections. Very distracting I tried many adjustments while flying today and none seem to make any difference... Any one else having this much issue with getting a good fit?
  2. ILS landing with 15kts crosswind and no visibility.
  3. Not arguing that they are resonably priced but, I bought the 3080 new in 2020 for 1200USD and got the 4090 for 2200 USD and sold my 3080 for 700USD now = 1500USD for this upgrade (Norwegian prices converted to USD). 4090 retails for 2200-2700 USD here in Norway. So I over doubled my performance for 300USD more than my initial 3080 purchase. Granted the 3080 prices were also horrible. You could argue that no hobby expense is rational. I'm happy with the purchase as this is my main hobby other than my dog
  4. Same! Will update here!
  5. Just got my 4090 and wow! Did two tests where I usually had subpar performance with my 3080, with the same settings, HP reverb G2. SA map in a snow storm on the ground: 3080: low 30s (28-35fps) 4090: 80-90fps (!!) Cold and dark on a crowded Supercarrier in Syria: 3080: high 30s (33-40 fps) 4090: 70s (65-75fps) Looking forward to continue testing and the long awaited Varjo Aero (most likely arriving next week)
  6. +1 Did you ever figure away to bind it?
  7. @Lord Vader Apologies for the wait Lord Vader. See attached for both airborn inbound call and one just after launch. Same error. Also attached the .miz. readbacknotcorrect2.trk case3test.miz readbacknotcorrect1.trk
  8. How/where have you placed your one 1.0 lighthouse?
  9. Thx! Will go for the 2.0. The Valve store is not available in Norway unfortunately. Only reseller here will get them in stock the 17th of dec, which is probably after my Aero arrives.
  10. I've ordered a Aero and I'm trying to get a hold of some used base stations. Anyone have experience with the 1.0 vs 2.0 base stations for DCS? I'm thinking of getting one and placing it above/in front of me. With this setup will 1.0 or 2.0 make any difference to me in DCS? From what I've gathered the main differences between the two is that you can have more base stations connected when using 2.0 and that the 2.0 will have slightly better FOV. The former does not effect me, but will the reduced FOV on 1.0 stations be a limitation for me when checking six or the consoles below the shoulder? (Assuming I only have one base station?)
  11. Same happened to me and this worked, thanks!
  12. Thx! Still have a few days before I need to decide, the upgrade would cost me at least 500USD. My only issue with the Quest Pro is the increased shimmering on textures in the distance compared to the G2. I assume its due to the lower resolution. The Aero seems like the perfect mix of the G2 and Quest Pro. I have a 4090 on the way (should arrive in late December).
  13. I'm considering returning the Quest Pro and getting the Aero instead due to this sale... What's holding me back is the extra cost of base stations. Do I really need two for DCS?
  14. @Lord Vader Will do. Very odd indeed, only started happening in 2.8. Always "approach time is 0. approach button is 15".
  15. @Lord Vader Tested today with a newly created mission. Same issue. null
  16. From my experience with the Bankler's trainer is if you wait more than a few seconds after your abeam grade shows, you will be too long in the groove. Be ready to turn right when that message appears. I always allow for a quick glance at the ship to verify that I see the round down. So: grade appears, quick glance, turn. all in 1-2 sec. See my video below if you like, recently got my first 75/75. I have made no changes to aircraft weight, ship speed or wind.
  17. Did they add it? Can't find it in the patch notes.
  18. My first 75/75 Edit: added : https://youtu.be/0Y0GY2Eki20
  19. @Lord Vader Thanks for looking into this! Ofc, will test this afternoon.
  20. Great review @Obic ! I’m curious, how much battery did you have left after 3 hours while using the link cable? And what resolution in oculus do you run? edit: misread, saw now that you had the oculus resolution slider set to max. Ignore my last question.
  21. I have disabled those, have also disabled all USB power saving settings in device manager for both ports and devices. I did get better charging with a type C to type A adapter. Not sure why that works better for me (Asus X570-F motherboard)... I'm in talks with Meta support since it seems that my discharge rate is higher than others. I will post here if it gets resolved.
  22. Not sure which FOV trick you are referring to. I have not changed any FOV settings in ODT/OTT. What improved my FOV and comfort was flipping the rear pad so the back of the headset sits higher. No, I have not tried FSR yet. I have pretty good performance now, since I turned off ASW. Slightly better than I had with the G2 (Open Composite and OpenXR) and same DCS settings. Might give the VRperfkit a try.
  23. Played a 55min session now and went from 99-82 % battery which would give about 5,5 hours 100-0. It might be even better if you don't use the built in speakers. I will test this at a later date.
  24. Battery life is not the best. Wireless you probably get max 2 hours in DCS. I'm using the Meta Link Cable connected to the PC which helps, but the power output from the MB is not enough to keep the headset charged. It will slowly discharge. By my estimates so far it's around 3-5 hours in DCS ( I have not that long sessions yet, but it's based on estimates), but I very rarely play more than 3 hours non stop in VR so it's not that big of a deal to me. I've read that some use a powered USB adapter, so providing external power while still being connected to the MB. Not sure how that effects transfer speeds though. Mixed reality is pretty cool and the Oculus software is soo much better and easier to use than WMR that I actually use the headset for other things than DCS (Youtube, twitch, movies). Feels like sitting in a movie theater.
