  1. In the Oculus installation folder: null
  2. Different league, both in clarity and comfort. No eyestrain and all cockpits are very sharp all across the whole FOV ( also bigger FOV than G2), colors are better but long distance objects is a bit lower with my settings (10+ NM). The ability to scan instruments with my eyes when looking outside in a dogfight vs having to move my head back into the cockpit and align the center of the G2 to the instrument, this is a game changer! Objects in the distance is a bit lower quality due to the lower resolution, when comparing to the center point of the G2. Though I have not played around much with SS. I run the Quest Pro at 4224 x2128 per eye now and got 60fps in a WW2 SP mission. Hoping to push the SS and or PD up more when (if) I get my 4090 soon... On another note, all my comfort issues were solved by flipping the rear pad, this relived most pressure on my forehead. Very comfortable now.
  3. Since I now got the same performance with the Quest Pro as G2 (45fps) I'm really happy with it. The display is really really great. Can't wait for VR optician lens inserts and full light blocker though. I would reccomend you to try it for 30days .
  4. Thx, will give it a try. Adjusted to 3664 for the encode resolution. Also tried to play around with the bitrate, did not notice any difference. What should this be set to? DCS runs pretty smooth now but I have occasional screen tears, is this related to the bitrate?
  5. Yeah thanks! Been reading up a bit (complete novice to Oculus) and it seems like running DCS standalone is the go to option if I keep the headset. For now I use steam but open DCS using Oculus VR and not steam VR. Also downloaded the Oculus Tray Tool and adjusted some settings (welcome input to these settings) Also found where to change the hz in the Oculus app (again, oculus novice) and changed it from 72 to 90 Now running stable 45fps with the same settings and missions with the Quest Pro. So now its a win-win-win over the G2 (if you forget the price)
  6. Day 2 update: Figured out that I used the headset too high on my forehead yesterday. FOV increased drastically when placing the headset in a more optimal position (higher on the back of my head and lower on my forehead). Definitely better FOV than the G2, and clear across the whole screen. Also used a spare VR Cover from my G2 to block the lights coming in from the bottom. Does not look pretty and was not perfect, but it works for now. Hope VR Cover will make a full gasket, as I have heard that the one from Meta is not perfect either (and expensive). On a side note, the Mixed Reality features are also pretty cool, color passthrough etc. Edit: For me it really comes down to this: With my setup and settings in a SP Syria training mission I have created: G2: Good sweet spot and 45-55fps (Open XR with FFR and FSR).About the same with SteamVR. Quest Pro: Better overall clarity and FOV. BUT I'm down to 36-40 FPS in the same mission with the same settings... Not sure if that is due to the USB 3 Link cable. Have not tried to optimize the quest Pro in any way yet, so It might be unfair to compare the FPS. Any tips for optimizing Oculus is greatly appreciated. I will make my decision about keeping it or returning it after my 4090 arrives, to see how it runs then.
  7. Just got my Quest Pro. Have not got the chance to test it much, one hour or so with about 30min in DCS. More time to test tomorrow but my initial impressions are: Disclaimer: My only other VR reference is the G2, so that is what I compare it to. Pros: GREAT lenses, very clear. Cockpit in the F16 is as clear as the G2 but across the whole FOV - GREAT plus G2 seems a bit clearer when looking at objects in the distance. Better contrast, brightness and colors than the G2. Much easier to setup Good tracking Eye and hand tracking, don't know if the latter works in DCS (not tested yet). Noticed less eye strain. I could not wear contact lenses in my g2 cause my eyes dried up to fast. Did not notice anything here, may be since I didn't need to stare at the center of the display to keep the sharpness. Cons: Not very comfortable to wear, feel it pressing against my forehead. Not a game breaker though, just a bit more uncomfortable than the G2. Can easily wear it for a few hours, but might not go straight to the pub due to red marks on my forehead... haha Not ideal to use for dogfighting before the full light blocker is available.. Looking up and back at your six it will reveal your desk and monitors. A bit immersion breaking. On another hand it was a cool feeling seeing your lower arms sort of connecting to the VR model in game. Lost some performance going away from OpenXR, tried both Steam VR and Oculus VR, the latter seemed the best (I use steam version). Didn't notice much difference in FOV compared to the G2 which was disappointing. Maybe I notice it more when I try the G2 again tomorrow. Will test more during the weekend, but think it can be a really good headset with a better GPU (still waiting on my 4090) and a full light blocker. Also: Can't seem to disable the Oculus Anti-Aliasing and "Enable VR layers" settings in Oculus Link graphics settings. I press the sliders with my controllers but the slider won't move. If anyone has any idea how to disable these (or if I need to?) I'm not familiar with the Oculus software so please let me know Edit: typo
  8. Placed an order myself. Looks like mine is arriving tomorrow (very optimistic). I was going to wait until the full light blocker and VR optician lenses are ready but I'm weak. Might make good use of the 30 days free return. Will report back here during the weekend (if it arrives tomorrow).
  9. +1 in 2.8 My readback is not correct, but marshal responds "readback correct" edit: included snip
  10. Also having issues with Vaicom. Keeps reopening my communications menu. Anyone else have this problem after updating to 2.8?
  11. Yeah, I saw the same types of spikes in MP (can't wait for multithreading). The X3D will not solve all problems, but was a good upgrade for me
  12. Sure, I run the G2 on a 3080 10gb (waiting on my 4090, should come in a week or two), 64gb DDR4 3600mhz CL 16 and DCS installed on an NVMe. Initially my plan was to get the 4090 and then upgrade to AM5 when 7800X3D comes next year. But when I saw the MB and Ram prices here in Norway I decided to do a intermediary upgrade with the 5800X3D and 4090. I upgraded my ram and MB last year and didn't want to do a complete rebuild quite yet. Also, seeing Intel catching back up I didn't want to invest into a whole new AMD platform just yet. If prices fall I might upgrade late next year to AM5 or just wait for the next gen intel/amd CPUs, but I'm squeezing some more time out of the AM4 platform for now. I use OpenXR and have FSR (100%) and FFR (quality, wide) enabled, no motion reprojection. Can't remember my DCS settings on the top of my head but I can post a screenshot here later if you like. It really depends what's your issues with your current setup. If you are like me who have constant frame drops on the ground and that keeps you from playing certain content, I would say go for it. But if your settings allow you to have smooth ground ops, I would wait. This video from Lukas (Wolta) pretty much sealed it for me. 5600X having about the same performance as 5800X in DCS.
  13. Got it installed today, must say I'm very happy about the results. Did not do any scientific testing, but the fps on the ground and on the supercarrier is noticeably better. With 5800X I usually stayed in the low 40s on a populated SC (Single player) with frequent drops below 30fps. With the X3D the average FPS was about 45 and very rarely dropped below 40. Much more stable!! Saw the same types of improvement on the ground in the South Atlantic map, this was unplayable for me before with 25fps, now I was at about 40+. Did also a quick test flight on the Hoggit Training Server, which usually is a lag/stutter fest for me, saw improvements here as well but it was not perfect. At least made it playable To sum up I'm very happy with the upgrade! I decided to pull the trigger now while I was still able to sell my 5800X for a reasonable price and do not regret it!
  14. Will do! The purchase was very spontaneus and I have already sold my 5800x so I won't be able to do proper comparison testing, but will definetly report back on "the feel". My biggest gripe with the 5800x is the frame drops on the ground and carrier, hopefully the X3D will improve that.
  15. Just ordered a 5800X3D. Curious about the performance increase on my setup. Today with my 5800x and AMD PBO enabled I get single core boost clocks at 5.05ghz. Do you guys run the X3D stock? Any performance increase when using PBO?
  16. The store screwed up, had one less in stock than they said... So did not receive mine, they estimate that mine should arrive next week. I will post here when I get it
  17. Got my hands on a 4090 Suprim X, should be arriving today! Think its going to be a big improvement over my 3080!

    SEC check?

    Same here

    SEC check?

Hi, Anyone know when the sec check will be fixed? Manual: "Throttle - Snap to MIL and then snap to IDLE when rpm reaches 85 percent. Check for normal indications and smooth operation" When I snap to mil it goes to burner and the engine dies before 85%. Thanks!
  20. Managed to do a sh*t hot break at mach 1.06 and 600ft. Not perfect in the groove but a lot of fun!
  21. Very much looking forward to this campaign!
