Since one of the latest patches on open beta (not exactly sure as there were multiple hotfixes over a few days), it is no longer possible to launch from carrier when you are the server host. The other clients can land, hook up and launch as usual, or spawn directly on carrier and launch. But as host of the server, it doesn't work anymore. I throttle up the F-18 and it just sits there. Same with the F-14, I throttle up, salute like always, and nothing happens. Other people on server report my plane seems to be glitching back and forth when attached to the catapult. It is no problem in single player, so it's not an issue with my setup. And it's the same multiplayer mission as I have used for several weeks without problems, so it shouldn't be the mission. Has anyone seen the same? PS: Not using dedicated server because I have no clue how to use it, so I use the normal multiplayer (host server) thingie in the multiplayer menu.

It will probably be considered EA, at least as long as it's only in the open beta. Once it's available in stable release (and Steam), and all minor bugs are ironed out, I assume it will be called "released". Just guesses though.

No issues for me. Bought it, started game and it was available to install. Installed it. Flying.

I tried searching if this has been reported, but couldn't find anything. If you load an F/A-18C with 2.75" rockets, the "Checklist" page shows way too much mass of the plane when the rockets are loaded. Considering the plane still flies, it must simply be the reporting page that is wrong (as in, the weapons aren't actually that heavy in the simulation) This is on current open beta patch, but this bug has existed for a *long* time, maybe since the start. Video showing what happens when you load 8 packs of 2.75" rockets on a Hornet: The rearm screen shows it should be about 42700 pounds, but it goes to over 61000 pounds on the checklist screen. When you fire the rockets the plane mass decreases rapidly back to normal, so it think someone put a zero too many, somewhere.

Any time a plane has taken off from a carrier and lands on land in multiplayer, it will start bouncing hundreds of meters up and down (through terrain and into the air) when seen by another player in multiplayer. Your own plane is un-affected (as you can see my plane in the foreground on the video) Video: (sound removed due to awful Discord banter) After this happens, the only way to stop the other clients from bouncing is to restart the server. My random un-educated guess is that it has something to do with the stabilization of the planes on the carrier deck. When you get on land, this stabilization goes crazy for some reason. (just a guess though) I hope this gets fixed as it is quite an annoying bug as it requires server restart.

What new feature of the Hornet are you most looking forward to?

I voted for air to surface radar, because I have never seen a proper simulation of this, and am eager to learn more about how it actually works and looks. -
** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **
yngvef replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yeah, maybe. However, I think that would feel a bit awkward. I guess we'll just see how it works out once the module comes out, but for me the most important thing is to make the menu smaller (adjustable in specials menu would be perfect) and not fill the entire screen. And maybe a slider for transparency as well. -

I also hope they make the menu into a normal vertical list rather than a radial menu. Radial menus are, in my opinion, only practical on console games where you select the option with a small analog stick. When you are supposed to press a number key, it's much easier to find the correct option if it's listed vertically. A minor thing perhaps, but I hope they take a look at it. -

My short opinion: The trailer looks very good. The exterior and interior of the plane looks stunning. Amazing work by Heatblur. The fact that the plane will arrive with most features in place at early access is a huge plus. I have preordered, obviously. My only complaint: I hope the Jester AI command menu is still work in progress, because I think it is way too big. It shouldn't block your view every time you want to talk to your RIO. Let's just hope "winter" means the coming winter, and not "winter 2020" ;) -
You get access at the same time as everybody else, but it is 10 dollars cheaper if you preorder. And the T-shirt and such offers are probably just a preorder deal, if that is something that interests you. So, if you are in doubt, just wait a bit. Just be aware that the price will go a little bit up after release.

"This winter" ... whatever that means. It already is winter where I live, and australian winter doesn't start until may or something, so who knows. :helpsmilie: -

I hope it will come to preorder on the ED website. I won't preorder on third party sites unless I absolutely have to. -
Nah, they'll time it for the 50 year anniversary of the first flight: December 21, 1970...

How to populate carriers with aircraft or other f-14s
yngvef replied to Harley Davidson's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Also, at the bottom of the mission editor screen, in the middle, are buttons called "MAP" "SAT" "ALT" and right next to them a button that looks like a little tank. The tank button enables 3d models in the editor. Visual models are then shown in either SAT or ALT view mode, so be sure to click one of those to see the model. They don't show up in MAP view mode -
As a rule, no :smilewink:
