  1. Haha, yes, of course you can read it while...on the ejection seat ;)
  2. Reading the manual before starting to fly is the wrong way, in my opinion. What benefit do I have in reading ~700 pages about HUD, TMS, CICU, ICP, DSMS, MFCD, WTF, OMG, and so on... When I reach the next chapter, I forgot most of the stuff from the last one... Start flying, with the manual in reach. practice flying, with the accourding chapter open. Start understanding the instruments. Look at them one by one, referencing to the manual. Practice until you know what everything does. So I prefer "RTFM while flying" instead of "RTFM before you fly"
  3. There is an easy mode, it's called LockOn Platinum ;)
  4. Congrats ED. What I've seen before is great. Can't wait to download the Beta this evening. I wish I had a running PC and installed TeamViewer at home, so I could at least start the download from the office...
  5. Okay, no problem ;)
  6. I just answered the question, and the dynamic campaign is one thing I miss in A10. So it was not as off topic as you make it here... no offense..
  7. A dynamic campaign would be the same. You get a mission, have to get the job done, RTB, do the next mission. After all, A10 is a "game", and I like to see, what my actions caused in that game. I somehow influence the campaign with my mission. When I destroy an airfield, no fighters will scramble from there. In a linear campaign it doesn't matter whether I destroy the airfield or not. It only affects the current mission. In real life you support your comrades on the ground, you fly missions, because you get orders to do so, and after all, because you get paid for it. In the "game" there would be no reason to fly the same missions over and over again. In Falcon every campaign was unique, it was a living battlefield and you could take any role in it. Personally I prefer that, even if it is not as real as waiting in a ready tent... ;)
  8. Well, there is one thing that I would wish to see in new Flight Sims. The dynamic campaign. Why does LockOn, Black Shark, A10.. not feature a dynamic campaign? That's why Falcon and Enemy Engaged will never be outdated for me...
  9. Sad but true. Those things are designed to hit and kill. Best way not to get hit is not to get detected at all. That keeps you alive ;) If you are fired upon, fire a missile in return, to force the enemy engage defensive maneuvers too. Put the missile on your 9 or 3, and start climbing and falling. If you are lucky, he fired the missile just when you came in range. If the missile has to do some maneuvers, it will cost her energy, and range. Well, if you are lucky. IR missiles..hhmm... just don't get into their range... If you can see an enemy aircraft, something went awfully wrong. Dogfights just won't happen ;)
  10. Falcon Pilot here... "Played" the first Faclon 4.0 "game" when it was released in 1998. Then after a long break I rediscovered it, finding out that it became the greatest FlightSim in the world. Just preordered DSC A10 and I am looking forward to test it. Fortunately, I got 3 weeks vacation from Monday on ;)
