  1. Hi Joe, Very Cool photo's. :photo:  Are there photo's form Saturday and good whether?
  2. I am only a starting photography armature with 3 months of experience and a BIG interest in just Air Show photography. Equipment: Camera: Canon 350D Lens: Tamron Di-II 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR As I am an armature, yes I was. Thanks for this good tip. But keep in mind that this was my first Air Show photo shoot. This winter I will take a course in photography that includes a five evenings and two field sessions taking photos. :book: Please if anybody has any tips on taking photos of Air Shows, please share this knowledge it is more than welcome. :helpsmilie:
  3. Again like we are becoming used to a great (little) movie

  7. Thanks for the very cool training video.
  8. I will be there on Friday and Saturday, so and I will try to post my photos on Sunday. Really looking forward to see the Blue Angels perform there show. :pilotfly:
  9. Nice targets for the BS, so you better have an F-15 standing by to shoot down the BS.:D
  10. Nice new system Hi JEFX, Nice new system. Just my guess simply because I am not a LOBS beta tester. But I think you run the following settings easily. Textures = High Scenes = High Civilian Traffic = Yes Water = High Haze = Advanced Lights = All Visibility Range = Medium (This one on High gives big FPS hit) Effects = High Heat Bluer = On (This looks so cool) Color = 32bit Resolution = 1280x1024 (8xAA 16xAF) for normal Game play and an average of 30 FPS 1600x1200 (4xAA 8xAF) for track playback with an average of 25 FPS Remember you could go for an SLI system and get a second 7900GTX. Personally I will wait for Vista plus BOB by Oleg and the next generation in processing power like Intel Conroe Extreme or AMD AM2 K8L and DirectX-10 compatible graphics hardware.
  11. Hi Killer, Thanks for the really nice and lengthy get back on-line pep talk. I will try and get back on-line after training a little bit more off-line with the Russian jets.
  12. Sorry GGTharos, No offence. I did not mean to make any broad statement about any plane, weapon or missile performance, it is just that after all the complains about the AMRAAM in Lock-On that I as just an average pilot after a few hours F-15C BVR flying time can kill any AI Expert level Russian pilot in any Russian plane, I just wonder what this say’s about the AI. So you say that an off-line pilot is no good and can not make any statement on these forums anymore, well to me this just simply sounded a little unfriendly, or did you mean let the on-line fraq and sometimes cheating circus commence. I just wanted to show my tracks and hoped that some beginner Lock-On pilot could learn something from them. http://home.planet.nl/~elzer033/downloads/F15C_AMRAAM_Tracks.zip
  13. I will keep practicing so that one day I will be good enough for on-line Although I sometime really enjoy flying on-line using the IL-2 flight simulator there are some problems with it this on-line thing and besides the usual excuses like not having the time to learn to fly and fight better that I do now or being plainly and simply not good enough, there is the biggest problem I have with flying on-line and this is that it will most of the time end up like being one big first person shooter fraq circus. The only thing that sounds interesting is on-line COOP missions, but for this I really do not consider myself to be good enough and I would really hate to let my squadron buddy’s down. So sorry for now I will fly Lock-On manly off-line just like many of my fellow want to be fighter pilots I will keep practicing so that one day I will be good enough for on-line.
  14. I thought that a lot of people out here mostly fly off-line or at least it is 50/50 for on-line/off-line and it the AI really this bad?
  15. Let me start by telling you virtual jet-fighter pilots out there that I do not consider myself to be an excellent or even a good virtual pilot although I have been flying in the virtual sky’s in IL-2 and Lock-On for years switching between them every few months, at best I could call myself an average virtual pilot, I have tried some on-line flying but most of the time I will get my ass shot down, LOL, I will keep trying though off-line and on-line. Now back to the subject that the F-15C and the AMRAAM AIM-120C are not so bad in the Lock-On game, in fact I have been practicing flying the F-15C for only a few weeks and with only a minimal amount flying hours every evening, now before this switch to the F-15C I only flew the ground attack planes in Lock-On like the A-10A, the Su-25 and the Su-25T so I only had my IL-2 air-to-air combat experience before I got in to the F-15C in Lock-On. Well let me tell you that in one-on-one BVR air combat fights and with the AI enemy pilot level at it’s maximum of excellent mode and only after practicing for a few weeks the poor AI pilots in the Russian planes doe not stand a change any more and this was quiet a bit different before I started practicing hard to get a kill with the F-15C in BVR mode. So if you still have trouble using the AMRAAM AIM-120C there are just a couple things you should get right, firmly believe in your self to be a good pilot and train your self, sit tight, get a lock as soon as possible, hold thigh, fire as quickly as possible, get of a few extra AMRAAM missiles on the target you get an abounded number of 8 of these very efficient AMRAAM missiles from uncle Sam, so use the while you have the change, do not use the ECM and also rather try to evade missiles by some fancy flying than relying on decoys, I do not use flares and chaff. Here are a just a few tracks from my training sessions, for a good playback use the show button in the main menu rather then the load (track) and play-track buttons. If you use the show you will see how I have flown the mission, using the load and play you can manipulate the views but than things sometime end up different then the original recordings so if you want to have an other view look just let the track playback with out any view switching until the F-15C radar gets it’s first lock then you can start switching views. Good luck practicing! See you in the virtual skies. http://home.planet.nl/~elzer033/downloads/F15C_AMRAAM_Tracks.zip
  16. Hi Ironhand, Thanks for the answers so fare, but I hoped that you as a member of the ED testing team and a very gifted track creator would have more insight in the inner workings of the AI. So here are some more questions to you answers. How can the AI start shooting sooner, can the AI in a higher skill mode get a quicker lock and if he can do the missiles have a higher hit change by having a longer range and/or better navigational path? That sounds like a real better AI in terms of situational awareness when flying CAC mode? So in BVR mode and on higher skill level the AI can lock you up sooner or in other terms the AI missile slider slowly but surly moves to hundred percent? Just out off curiosity, is this the way to become a member of the ED BS testing team? I really regret not having the time and probably the skills probably or the knowledge necessary to really become a test team member. One thing I have noticed up until now is that the AI gets scared very easily in BVR and in a lower skill mode, when you fly One-on-One in Head-to-Head in an F-15C in BVR up against any Russian fighter in a lower AI skill mode and you are at the edge of the BVR envelope it seems that if you fire you first AMRAAM the enemy fighter will start evasive maneuvers and disengage you, so in my opinion it is scared of and if you fire a second and/or third AMRAAM he has no change of escape, the only thing you probably have to do is avoid getting hit by just one fired Russian missile and you’re the winner. This is quiet a bit different in a higher AI mode where the AI fires the missiles sooner (how can he do that) and faster, so he is trying to scare you, LOL I can not die and I am not easily sacred and last but not least I am under the impression that the AI missiles are more effective when using a higher AI skill lever.
  17. Sorry for not responding to your answers the previous week but right after posting this subject I had to go skiing with the family for a week in the French Alps (Val Thorens) and we had great snow and fun. But I remain very interested in what does actually change in the way the AI pilot’s behave in the various AI modes? 1. Average 2. Good 3. High 4. Excellent To my opinion it would be to simple that with the level going up from 1 to 4 the AI pilot would just get more aggressive and what do more aggressive actually do? 1. AI acts faster to radar threads 2. AI rapidly fires more missiles 3. AI does faster and better maneuvering 4. AI gets better in avoiding missiles 5. AI does not get scared when he has multiple missiles coming in 6. AI gets better in al kinds of combat tricks 7. AI ... 8. AI ... 9. AI ... I hope somebody from the ED testers or Developers can bring some real information to the table, but then a gain this could be one of the secrets of the Lock On game.
  18. What does actually change in the way the AI pilot’s behave in the various AI modes? I know the AI pilots should somehow get better with every higher AI step, but I hope somebody can explain what the actual differences are between the various AI pilot’s modes. 1. Average 2. Good 3. High 4. Excellent 5. Random (randomly select 1 trough 4) 6. Player (you or me) 7. Client (don’t know what this does) It could be that the AI pilot’s missile slider moves from 50% (good) to 100% (excellent) or that he gets his lock faster or that in excellent mode he can look trough clouds. There are a lot more possibilities that I can think of and your guess is as good as mine but I hope somebody from ED developers or the ED testers team can really explain what’s really going on.
  19. WOW What’s happening to these new ground objects and (new) missiles, the are looking cooler and cooler every time we get to see some new shot’s.
