  1. I only play on 4Y4 PVE Servers when I want to chill and relax Have you tried PVE (Player Versus Environment) servers?
  2. I enjoy playing on public MP servers. I find it relaxing playing on 4YA servers, dropping bombs while drinking a beer. The Contention servers are really awesome since they are like a strategy game or a game of chess. For me the question is should i join a squadron / dedicated guild? I think I might do it in the future when I have some more dedicated spare time.
  3. Do not buy the OH-58, it has no developer support. In other words the OH-58 will be broken as time passes with no fixes. The OH-58 Kiowa should be removed from the store.
  4. Thank you @zerO_crash for a very well written post! Probably one of the best I have seen on this forum lately! I am starting to think the MIG-29A is best utilised as it was designed: a point defence aircraft with ground radar support. If the ground radar officer is doing a good job then using interceptor tactics at high altitude might be the best (since you have more powerfull radar [ ground radar] compared with F-16, F-F18 etc). You have the radar advantage. However if the MIG 29A would be missing ground radar (lets say the western jets managed to bomb the ground radar to pure dust) the MIG-29A best tactics would still be point defence but in this case using belly tactics, attack from low and below, pulling 90 degree straight up in the RWR shadow of the enemy aircraft and shot missiles. I think in both scenarios the MIG-29A will always be a defence aircraft. Mostly because the lack of situational awerness in the cockpit it is to risky attacking a defended enemy. That being said I don't think that makes the MIG-29A less fun to fly. It still can deploy a wide range of tactics within the defence role. It is a different mindset to explore and develop. And as a MIG-29A pilot you are still one of the best knifefighters in DCS and that never gets booring.
  5. I second this, it would be much helpfull if we could please get the manual early, thanks for all your great work with the C-130!
  6. You are welcome buddy ! I understand your situation without DCS I would be crying big time! Luckily there are so many helpfull and very knowledgeable members here so that can basically help us with anything especially VR! Let me know how it is going!
  7. Notching is a great idea. Im thinking having my radar off, using AWACs or Ground Control Radar, boogey doop calls to move below him, when I am 90 degree below him (he is at high altitude say 30 000 feet) I go full afterburner straight up and turn on my radar. I lock him from below at perhaps 20 000 feet at fire two missiles. This should make him defensive. If he fires back I go defensive but hopefully I can notch and ground mask. The aim would be to get him below 15 000 feet.
  8. Any idea how to fight the F-16 from BVR, must be some tactic that can be used? Spam missiles, make him defensive?
  9. Yes that is a great idea! I am thinking sneaking low under him, to avoid his radar, then as I pass under him, I go full afterburner straight up to high altitude and attack from his 6. Many pilots BVR from high altitude, a serious drawback is that you are clearly painted against a big blue sky.
  10. Hi guys, I was watching this excellent video how sneak up on enemy aircraft But what if the enemy aircraft is really up high, perhaps at 20 000 - 30 000 feet, how do I force them down below 15 000 feet? Or how can I sneak up on a enemy aircraft operating at high altitude without being detected on his radar?
  11. Ok thanks for sharing I will keep that in mind while testing it out
  12. Thanks @Spirale for sharing this video! I have watched some other GVad videos and I believe he is credible and really knows what he is talking about. Watching this video I was amazed how strong the MIG-29A was in both the turn (below 500 knots) and especially in the vertical! The MIG-29A really stands out as a air-superiority fighter below 15 000 feet in the merge. We MIG-29 pilots now need to figure out how to get close and force those Vipers down to us, any good ideas anyone? I would love to know
  13. @Mainstay If you could post track-file and give heads-up to moderators, posting as much data as possible (track-files) helps them out to correct the issue, we community are basically beta-testers when a module is in early access, so our data is important to get a module optimized.
  14. Thanks @Schmidtfire I will try your method out, I was wondering how to make it work!
  15. If we pay attention to Wags tutorial at 20:19 (20 min 19 sec) we can hear him press the pickle button on his joystick (weapon release) but he seem to aim with the line not the circle. So perhaps it worth trying to aim above the circkle, try giving it a shot. Im away from home so I can't try it myself. Wags is aiming for the middle truck (center target) at the runway, 20:19 timestamp.
  16. Hi @PLUTON glad you have your computer up and running again ! On top of my head I would install: - DCS - Virtual Desktop - Virtual Desktop Streamer I would then sync Virtual Desktop with Virtual Desktop Streamer using my Meta Username. Video below how to do that (watch first 5 min) I would then check out Gryphons VR-settings thread to get my bearing for graphical ajustments
  17. @Ironhand I fully agree with you! What ED has created with the MIG-29A Fulcrum is simply put amazing! The 3D laser scanned and photogrammetry cockpit is absolutely brilliant in VR, the sounds from the engines is bloody fantastic (best in DCS without any doubt), easily the most fun flight model (the MIG even beats the old king of the throne: Mirage-2000), a radar that is actually realistic, even the wheel tyres has deformation modeled, very good PC performence even on maps like Cold War Germany I could go on forever .
  18. Maybe there is some other modd maker that has created cold war assets, have you searched in: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/type-is-skin/apply/
  19. Have you looked at Current Hills mods? They are free and very high quality https://www.currenthill.com/
  20. Hi all, Is there any modd or file to download that outlines the CW Germany map ? Would be great if east/west border of Gemany was outlined, historical army formations, historical invasion plans, supply depots, military airfield in use, logistic routes and so on.
  21. Thats how Viggen works, it uses barometric settings for weapon deployments, how the MIG functions I dont know. But they are both cold-war jets, perhaps it was common back then?
  22. Yes I agree you bring a really good point, I remember when I started DCS years back I asked in the multiplayer chat what aircraft to buy, the reply was what mission do you want to fly? Basically you buy a aircraft after the mission. To get back on topic (so the mods don´t close this thread) when it comes to bombing itself, I just find the MIG-29A strikes a perfect balance in difficult level, it kind of blends technology with pilot skill in a really good way.
  23. I kind of like the challenge of bombing in the MIG because in the F-16/F-18 it takes no skill at all. In the MIG you actually have to develop skills, but it is not on a crazy difficult level like bombing with the warbirds (WW2). The MIG-29A Fulcrum strikes a perfect balance.
  24. DLAA, works best in VR for me. Gives the sharpest image close up and at a distance.
  25. That should do it! No video needed , thanks for the help AeriaGloria!
