R E C A P I T U L A T I O N: 1. Green skval TV ED statement : IRL features My opinion: Don't care too much, but i don't found any footages where the shkval TV have green image. There is lots of photos of turn off shkval where it looks green, but that is common features of old B&W TV , that they are look green while they are turn off, however the turn on image is B&W. 2. up to 2 second ATGM trigger delay ED statement : Added delay up to 2 seconds for ATGM Vikhr launch sequence by original flight manual notes. My opinion: I don't know where those notes came from after 13 years of Ka-50 development in DCS and how relevant they are. Personally, it doesn't make much sense for me to have such a long delay. I'm slowly getting used to it. 3. ABRIS map refresh rate 1 per second so the zoomed map moves jerkily. ED statement : IRL features , but it broke the speed indicator what is actually harder to fix at it looks like. My opinion: Do we really need such as "improvement". So should I expect that after 2, 4 or 10 years someone in ED will think that automatic map switching in the Mi-24P is not realistic and so they will "improve" it by removing this feature? 4. Almost all the time shake ED statement : none Some additional info: My opinion: I have no problem driving kart , but looking on helmet go-pro kart video make me sick. Flying Ka-50 make me sick now same way. It's different to sit in something that shakes and shake with it than to just look at something that shakes. So i am pray for camera cockpit shake set up slider for Ka-50 in special options. 5. HDG HOLD - is not accurate as before. Heli breaks left or right but doesn't hold the correct heading ED statement : I do not find none yet Community research: My opinion: Magnetic heading mode is WIP and dont works as is intended. I am really interesting for ED statements. 6. Shkval performance degraded and some new cockpit textures looks blurry. ED statement : (Beta tester) New DCS lighting and new Ka-50 cockpit doesn't work corect together. Workaround for now : turn off the "Cockpit Global Illumination", this makes the difference in the skhval. My opinion: I have no idea what the option "Cockpit Global Illumination" do. Some modules looks little bit better when it is turn on (F-15 for example), some looks same for me (MI-24P) no matter if it is on or off. Significant difference is only in Ka-50. 7. KH-25ml Misslle Not Tracking the laser ED statement : this is correct as is. See manual page 94: My opinion: I prefer vikhr, but good to know. My overall opinion: it looks like a nice downgrade.

Yeah, this switch can be little bit confusing. There are five or so position all around the switch. You have to click on position where you want move the switch , not directly on the switch.

Yea, the Ka-50 cockpit vibrations looks so unnatural. The cockpit camera shake slider in special options is one of most essential features for me i waiting for in some next updates.

In DCS version 2.7.18.30765, ABRIS map movement is smooth regardless of the zoom level. In DCS version 2.8.0.32235, ABRIS map is refreshed only one per second, so the movement is jumpy. Not sure if it is bug or intended "improvement" to bring thing closer to IRL. Next problem is wrong speed on ABRIS in KM/H. Significant less maximum ABRIS brightness compared previous version.

I don't claim the shacing should not exist at hight or low speed flying, i claim they looks just terrible on Ka-50, at least compared to Mi-24P. I don't own any other helicopters yet, but the camera cockpit shaking in Mi-24P look decent even in 100%. I personally prefer 50% when i have the option to set it up, but even at 100% it would be still acceptable for me. It looks natural, the vibrations are mostly high frequency with low amplitude. Mi-24P start shake like crazy with high amplitude only when he start lost lift and start falling down. It is signal for me i need increase collective or pitch up to increase speed. However the Ka-50 now shake like crazy with high aptitude, even in relative save situations. The altitude is stable , RPM are stable , everything looks fine, but theKa-50 shakes as if I was sitting on a tractor plowing a field.

I made some research , but it looks like there is no script equivalent for "SCENERY REMOVE OBJECTS ZONE". , which is a shame. Otherwise i would be pretty easy. I would only add: trigger.action.sceneryremoveobjectszone(impactPoint, trees) under trigger.action.explosion(impactPoint, getWeaponExplosive(wpnData.name)) in function track_wpns() and it would by probably done. However the function "trigger.action.sceneryremoveobjectszone(impactPoint, trees)" doesn't exist so it will not be so easy. -
I would be not surprised if the first and last photo is actually made in the same cockpit only different light condition and angle. Our first TV in 1987 was small B&W Mercur and it looks exactly same green while he was turn off as it is the shkval TV on the last photo.

I would just like to warn everyone who is waiting for it to work as before after the repair, that it probably won't. Be prepared to need a second button to move the switch in the opposite direction. All 3 and more positions switches affected by this, is now controlled in cockpit by right and left mouse button. So it will by same even with hotkey like it is in Mi-24P. So one key for one direction, another one for move the switch back.

It is probably same thing like 2 second ATGM trigger delay. Pilot press a trigger and start counting "one, two" and the missile launch, so he wrote in to notes 2 second delay, because he doesn't know if he count "one, two" it actually take 1 second. The devs found some pilot notes where was 2 second delay so we have real 2 second delay now. What is probably wrong, because it doesn't make any sense so huge delay. Same thing is green skval TV. BS3 is probably being worked on by a young team that doesn't remember the 80s. The old 80s CRT monitor look green while they was turn off, as you can see on your second picture, but the turn on picture was B&W. Because none from team used old CRT TV in his life, so we get green shkval, because on photos it is actually little bit green, but only while is turn off. What i thing is, all this black shark update was actually upload into 2.8 by accident. It is some WIP of BS3 and it even did no goes thru internal check yet.

I can confirm that switching to gyro heading solve problem when magnetic heading does not work. But still don't understand why magnetic heading sometimes work and sometimes doesn't. I run DCS , start new mission, switch at the magnetic position and everything work just fine. Played 5-6 mission and it suddenly stop working, and it even affect previous saved track file from gameplay where it worked correct. So while i played the mission it works, but in track replay it doesn't work and vice versa. I just upload a video where i point to ABRIS jumpy map movement in 2.8 compared to 2.7, but then it continue and show problem with delayed HSI, what make problem for heading hold. 4:54 helicopters end toun to the left and start turning to the right. HSI and map keep moving to the right next 3-4 seconds.

What is ETL? Track included, but is pretty significant and eazy reproduced thing so i really don't think the track is necessary in those points. ka-50 shaking.trk

Several updates ago was added cockpit shaking in "high" speed. Ka-50 start shaking somewhere over 200 Km/h at low altitude where maximum speed is over 300 km/h what is in my taste to early. Now in 2.8 was added shaking even in low speed. The cockpit is shaking at speed between 20-70 km/h. Did you try to tell me the ka-50 can stable fly only at speed between 100-200 km/h? Like seriously? It OK when cockpit start shaking , when helicopter is coming to some extreme situation. To much rotor RPM, to low rotor RPM, not enough lift and so on. Probably the high speed and low speed shaking have some reason, but the cockpit shaking in Ka-50 is now to much extreme. There is no slider in special option to set up cockpit vibration, like it have Mi-24P, or AH-64, and the shaking make the Ka-50 for me almost unplayable because of my sensitivity of any kind of image stuttering. So please, add slider to set up cockpit vibration in Ka-50 special options.

This will be something more complicated. I played mission where everything works fine. I saved the track. Then i play same mission later and the Heading hold don't work. I saved the track. Then I replay the track and everything works normally on both tracks. Today i play the track again an it is broken in both tracks. So it's not a wrong setting. Something bad is happening in the simulation. But is definitely not problem of autopilot, it is problem of delayed HSI or something. Weird thing is it happens to me totally randomly.

This is right. Right pedal have slightly less travel as left one , but the difference is tiny. If the diference is significant for you, then AP YAW chanel change pedal TRIM position. More info here:

I just had the same problem with HDG hold. Same mission "Convoy Hunt" a did play the mission 5 time in a row without issue. At the 6 attempt the HDG HOLD doesn't work correctly, heli fly side to side. I did save a track, but weird thing is after is run the track, the problem wasn't there. In the track replay the helicopter flew nice straight. So i don't know if have any sense post the track here. Next time i know i have to do a video.

@okopanja good point , and the solution in there topic is actually helpful in this case as well. I also reduced the gamma from 2.2 to 1.8 and now it looks quite nice. The landing gear light are not still so visible as they was in 2.7, but in global in this settings it is OK for me.

Not big deal , however now on the green TV it is more noticeable the problem of the curved edge of monitor. There should not be any image, the edges should be black or dark green , no matter if the TV is on or off. Current state: How it should be: -

I am not a programer, i have some basic but my knowledge is not enough to modify the script myself. What i am thinking about is trees destruction. Any chance to add functionality of the script , it would remove trees in impact zone? Or some other script for that? -
After 2.8 the AP is weird and inconsistent. In some mission it work normal in other one the heading hold mode can't stabilise helicopter in straight fly , instead he fly like snake from side to side. Sometimes it even start oscillate and the side to side fly go worse and worse and if i don't take a control the helicopter would probably crash.

For me the 2.7 lighting and shadows make more sense. On first two pictures , you are pointed directly to the sun. On 2.7 is dashboard logically dark, on 2.8 is bright and all instruments looks like underligt. Where come all the lights from. Does have pilot reflective helmet or what? When the instruments are all the time so bright , they looks like they are completely flat. 3D depth effect of dashboard instruments and glass effect over instruments looks much more better on 2.7 for me. Other things is HUD, no matter how much i try adjust brightness, i am not able get so sharp result as in 2.7. The HUD on 2.8 is still little bit blurry or not visible over horisont. /edit OK i made a closer look to your photos, when i zoomed in i noticed it doesn't look so bad in this case. Especially of flat looking. It is most significant on speedometer. On you pictures it looks fine, on my personal experience not. And i figure out there is a difference between default russian cockpit and english cockpit. So english cockpit is still WIP , and there is no problem only with wrong text in some places.

They added 100% AP YAW authority so AP can now move the pedals, but it was update before 2.8. Micro Switch Logic: "Enable/Disable by absence/presence of pedal movement", is broken and doesn't work as intended, so AP will fight with you in this case. So probably it is this.

It would be better if you use same mission and exactly same place for comparison. But yes , 2.7 cockpit in general look more sharp and better.

There is no much other military helicopter games on the market. So not much other choose. If they would have fix at least one broken things with today hot fix i will not say anything, but what 2.8 broke is still broken. English cockpit still combined with Russian, ABRIS speed is not correct in KMH, keyboard hotkeys do not work correctly for all three position switches, ABRIS brightness is too weak, HUD is also less readable as in 2.7, etc. Green or B&W Shkval I don't really care. The trigger delay when firing the ATGM is annoying, but I can adapt to it. I don't mind changes bringing things closer to reality, what bothers me is that it broke a bunch of other things that we'll have to wait a few weeks to fix, and I'm afraid that many of the bugs will be carried over to the stable version.
