  1. I may end up making something new out of this camo. This is just made for my own squadron for now.
  2. all the setting does is point your radar, while the distance is just there so you can finetune the elevation a bit more
  3. i will second that, i would argue that Mach3DS, Roughmaster, and Texac made some of the single best Vipers out there.
  4. That isnt the problem, He isn't having a problem with the Description.lua His issue is that he is using a different livery as a base, meaning he has the squadron marks in the roughmet. I get where youre coming from, i know that MV does that, and in that case youre correct, but here its not the issue. As mega said, i wouldnt go and edit someone elses livery. The Clean default textures are here DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\FA-18C\Textures\FA-18C.zip And the fuel tank is in here DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\World\textures\AeroWeapons.zip
  5. A lot of painful time and attention to detail. Usally they spend a lot of time researching and using pictures to get panel lines right. There is not real easy way, aside from spending a lot time and manual work on it.
  6. and for the bare metal
  7. only 2 small corrections i will point out real quick. Generally for Mods, i would not even bother with the ROUGHNESS_METALLIC for the description, unless youre making a custom one for the livery. You should be able to just put it into the Texture folder of the mod, and delete the Specular. DCS usally doesnt use speculars if the RoughMet is present. as for this texture here, im pretty sure this is a Specular, otherwise the texture wouldnt be shiny at all. null As for your Textures Urbi, The Red Channel is almost completely red on yours, which isnt exactly optimal, especially for Air Intakes, or the inside of the Gear bay. That being said in all fairness, there is nothing you could do there, unless you'd have the model, or unless youre an absolute psychopath to try and make a custom AO map... The number is 13 i think it is actually unknown what 12 does. I added some stuff to the red channel here. Its not perfect, but id say its still better than a fully white red channel.
  8. YAE STRIKES AGAIN! xD Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
  9. for the blue channel i would usally work off an white or black, as in its either metal or not. That being i do play with the blue channel to get some certain effects.
  10. I dont think so, (i cant believe i say this) Urbi is right, this seems like an 3D issue, that being said, i dont know the textures, this MAY be fixable, but im not sure.
  11. just keep in mind that you should not change anything in the Red channel. as it is for the Ambient Occlusion, which basically controls how light interacts with certain spots where light wouldnt get to as easily. (i know a certain someone who is going to hate the way i explain it) It basically creates a kind of shadow for those spots to say it in the most simple way. nullYou can see it in this picture here, how the left side of the engine seems to be darker, or how the corner on the spine seems to have a sort of shadow. That is basically what the AO does here.
  12. You do know that mipmaps have NOTHING to do with color? Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
  13. A lot coming from a guy who's in-game skins dont even have Mipmaps
  14. I never claimed they were service missiles? Where are you pulling that out now?
  15. I think you are confusing the J-11A with the Vietnamese Su-27SK. I know that Vietnam was using ukraine to take care of their Su-27s.
  16. no it can not. It requires the APK-9 pod here, which is being used on the Su-30, not the J-11A. This is most likely due to how the missile is coded in the game. It has nothing to do with reallife. As you said FC3 is simplifying systems, thats why if you mount an AIM-120, or even an AIM-54 onto the J-11A, it will work, because FC3 takes care of that. That would not be much of an issue, as ECM in DCS is not simulated properly anyway. This is talking about the Su-27UBM/Su-30, again no mention of the J-11A.
  17. No you can not. The OLS is not capable of being used as a imaging seeker for ground targets.
  18. That post you linked up there is for the Su-27UB and Su-30. Not the J-11A Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk That has been said. The ENTIRE J-11A process was stopped to focus on the JF-17.
  19. all training missiles in China are either blue or white with the yellow stripe. Doesn't mean much however, as this is a different excercise, we dont know when that picture was taken. It is known that that the J-11A is going through a MLU program, similar to how the F-16 got running upgrades. We simply dont know to what extend those upgrades came. All that we know is that there is upgrades. That can also mean that the plane recieved a completely new cockpit and/or avionics package. We dont know how the MAWS is integrated. Possible that it simply uses the one extra screen, also possible that the plane recieved a completely new system. But again, there is no solid info on this, so nobody knows for sure.
  20. Thats the problem, nobody really knows. Until there is actual evidence for it, they wont be added. While yes, the J-11As are being upgraded, it is unknown how much, and what exactly. So without proper information on it, we wont see anything coming to it
  21. what are you even talking about? I've seen you talk weird bs like that across multiple posts, trying to claim things that arent true, without properly researching what youre even saying. Please for the love of god, dont derail topics by spreading misinformation or by posting things that arent part of the conversation. I get youre trying to improve DCS, just like everyone else here. But just claiming things and making them look like absolute facts! is not the way. Try to keep that in mind, thank you.
  22. But thats the thing, it didn't have any native chinese weapons. The only one is the PL-12. There is pictures of an J-11A carrying what appears to be an PL-12. but asides from the tip of the missile, we dont know for sure. Two more possibilities are the PL-8, although i dont know if there is any source of it being used on the J-11A. The other missile may be the YJ-91 (chinese license built Kh-31P). That being said, I know that the J-11B is capable of employing it, but as for the J-11A, its unlikely, as the J-11A lacks the systems needed for it. The closest there is, are Chinese built R-77s and R-27s, but those were identical with the russian ones, although supposedly they were downgraded export variants.
  23. the yellow one is not an J-11A, this most likely is a J-16 or Su-30MKK prototype, as the none of the J-11s have the inner wing pylons. As for the other pic on the left, its possible that they got upgraded later to carry TV and SEAD weapons, but there is no official and/or trustworthy source that confirms that
  24. compare how the missile tits in those pictures The R-77 in the middle is much further back/shorter than the PL-12 in the picture above. It also cant be an R-27, as that has a completely different shape. Lastly, NO, the J-11 can not carry 6x R-27ETs, as those pylons do not have the ability to mount the neccessairy Cooling unit for the missile. What you see it a transfer loadout.
