  1. I've been installing some of the other texture mods around here like the CDU-EGI mod. So far this is the only one that seems to modify the same file. Will installing this Intercom mod override the previously mentioned mod since they alter the same file? Is there any way to merge them?
  2. This happened to me once recently in multiplayer. I wish I could remember what mission it was. I have failures turned off in options so I thought it was perhaps something scripted in the mission. When it happened a siren went off and an emergency was declared at the field and some green flares went up. I looked at my plane from the outside and while the mains were down and locked, the nose wheel looked like it was in the stowed position. I was able to raise and lower the main gear but nothing happened with the nose and there was still a green light. I believe I had a standard loadout of 6xAGM-65D, 4xCBU-97, TGP, ECM, 2xAIM-9 and a full tank of fuel. I really don't think that I had a damaged nose wheel before TO as I always taxi at a pretty realistic speed and I was very close to the runway on spawn, so didn't have far to taxi.
  3. I'm still pretty confused. I've always used easy radio/comms and never had to mess with the intercom before. It doesn't seem to take into account the easy settings from the options and you would think it would fall under that. So what is the correct procedure now(or at least if/when it is patched)? By default all the buttons are pulled out. I'm not sure about the position of the big dial. I can't seem to find any marking that shows which position it is in. By default, I think the INT is pointed in the straight up position and the dial is rotated fully clockwise. If that is the correct starting position, then what needs to happen to communicate with the ground crew? And after you are done with the ground crew, do you need to turn it back off, or select one of the other radios, etc.?
  4. ^They added a radio command under ground crew to retract the ladder.
  5. I'm trying to remember if auto-lase works even if you don't have the laser set to latch in the TGP. Could that be it. I always set it to latch anyway.
  6. Good to know...I guess :) I wonder if it is a design flaw or if it is something that could be ironed out through tweaking. The main thing I want to avoid is having to use the Target software.
  7. THANK YOU! Sometimes I just have a horrible memory...and I'm lazy. :) I should probably make flash cards and study some of this stuff, but this will definitely help when out on the job and trying to communicate what the heck it is that is trying to kill me. :)
  8. I've thought about assigning the slew to another hat on my warthog. I'm not a big fan on the slew nub thing that it has going on. First, it took a good amount of tweaking of the axis settings in the options to get it to be more responsive. I still have to adjust the slew rate in the stats page to 7 to smooth it out. The other annoying problem I seem to have is when holding the slew nub fully in one direction, often times the TGP view will just stop. I'll have to let the nub center and then try again, sometimes repeatedly. Sometimes I just have to find a "sweet" spot where it will continually accept input commands and keep slewing the TGP without stopping, and it is not like there is a whole lot of travel on the thing. I don't know if this issue is unique to my stick or other warthog owners experience it, or have any suggestions on slew setup. I've only seen a few on this board and have used those as a starting point to tweak on.
  9. I don't recall always getting a message. Think it might depend on the JTAC type in effect. I too always feel like I am missing info, either JTAC comms or scripted mission comms. The timeout is pretty short and no way to recall the messages. I'd love for there to be a way to access a log of all comms in a mission. Maybe make it part of the briefing page? PLEASE? :)
  10. Man this looks so awesome. I wish I had that amount of disposable income. I'm estimating somewhere around $2-2.5kUS at least for the 4 monitors. I already have a 6950 card and the TM Warthog.
  11. 5 months sounds about right. You just have to use new math. Since "2 weeks" has a 99% probability of equaling infinity, +- 1 "weekend", then "like 5 months" is < or equal to 5 days, excluding holidays.
  12. I think I actually prefer your previous version. :)
  13. Awesome work Peter! Glad I could contribute in some small way. :) IMO, ED should take note of this and include it in a future patch and give options to position and font size via the options menu to make customizing easy.
  14. Question: I've already modded my menu.res per the mod section to increase the size of the menu so you can once again see the entire weapon loadouts. Does this mod do that as well, and if not, could it interfere with that mod?
  15. Ditto here! Problem looks to have finally been solved!
  16. One time I got hit by a SAM and it took off half my right wing and right engine. I was able to manage it back to the airfield, land(gear still worked), and taxi clear of the runway. That was FUN! I also think I lost a few pounds in sweat. :)
  17. I've sped up my startup time by initiating the INS alignment before engine start. Basically, as soon as the APU is started I turn on the APU gen, L/R AC gens, as well as the EGI and CDU power. This starts the INS alignment right away. I wait until after the engines are running and the APU is turned off to turn on the CICU and IFFCC and start the bit test. I've seen procedures wrt the EGI/CDU power before and after engine start so I don't know which is correct or realistic. I've never had any problems doing it the way I described and it shaves off a ton of time on ramp startups without sacrificing INS alignment.
  18. That's a damn fine deal. How much are they charging for shipping? ;) You are going to love the Warthog. I have the regular Saitek pedals and they work great.
  19. Not sure why you are having this problem. Are you using an older version of the TIR that does not have 6DOF? I'm using a TIR5 and have no problem turning and leaning to get a closer look at the side panels to get at every switch. Maybe you need to adjust the settings a bit to get better control?
  20. Hey Lucky, when you updated to .8, did you use the patch or full install? Also, did you wipe your Saved Games folder before hand?
  21. I have a feeling that while still a very challenging maneuver irl, aspects of it may be easier because you just don't get the seat of the pants feel from sitting in your computer chair. Nor do you have the benefit of the Mk.1 Eyeballs that provide an overall better sense of your position in relation to the tanker, etc.
  22. Just thinking aloud here, but I can imagine using the TGP to designate a mark point at the runway threshold and then converting that into a 3D waypoint for a more accurate landing point. I also like to turn on the radar tape on the HUD to use as a reference to ground height when on final. Heck, if you are really good at math you should be able to adjust your slope by radar alt, time to waypoint, and vertical velocity. :p
  23. I changed mine to default to the trims since I have a TIR5(You should get one of you don't already. If you can afford the WH, I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a stretch. :)) Anyway, what you want to do is set up a button on your stick as a modifier. I made mine the little pinky switch and moved the NWS to the big pinky switch(just my personal pref). To assign a modifier, open the input settings in the options and click on the Modifier button at the bottom left of the screen to assign it to one of your WH buttons. Then you can use that when programming the hat on the stick. Leave the current assignments for views the way you have it and then assign the trims to the same hat but select your modifier button from the pull-down menu and you shouldn't see a conflict. First, make sure you are actually using the active jammer which by default is assigned to the CMS Z-axis(or the push button of the CMS hat on your Warthog). You should see the jammer switch from STBY to a flashing OPR(something like that). I activate it as soon as something pops up on the RWR. Remember that it will time-out after a short while unless you have your CMS set to semi or auto. But it is always good to keep checking it. I prefer to use semi mode and use the CMS hat to start/stop CM deployment and let it automatically pick the program. Missile evasion itself is a whole other thing.
  24. Hmm, haven't notice this yet, probably because I have only had about an hour or so to mess around since the patch came out(and boy I'm starting to get the shakes!). :( But I would think that you should still see some heat exhaust even at idle?
