1.12 is ready for Download. "Tips"
Prophet_169th replied to Ice's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If you have controller issues like axis that stop working, then work again, it may be a similar problem to the TrackIR problem. -
Well given how often the question is asked, I think it would be better to ban asking the question. Then you wont get that answer, and so both problems solved.

They never made it into the game.....

Technical Question about StarForce..
Prophet_169th replied to bflagg's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I have had 0 problems with SF. Most issues can and have been resolved by reinstalling a few things. Like that has never happened with some drivers....... or Nortons, or various other programs. Those who dont with to buy FC because of SF are really missing out, and for no other reason than un-restrained paranoia. SF has an offer out for $$$ if you can prove that SF damaged your computer. I dont think it has been claimed yet..... all hype and scare tactics. -
The last days of the Tomcat
Prophet_169th replied to Starlight's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Not to revive an old thread, but after watching GA's moving, I thought of something. What does the US have to replace the AIM-54? Is there another platform capable to fire the missle? Given its range, its seems odd they would get rid of the long legs it has. -

I think there have been a few issues since we have been beta testing. I will check with Fox when I see him next. -
New Logitech Gaming Keyboard
Prophet_169th replied to Sleek's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I was looking at one of these also. I was wondering if it would be able to output Bullseye information from Fox's program. -
I would imagine the software for this is entirely too complex for my dino brain to understand. But it I know it has to be beyond locking the highest heat source. If that was the case, all you would have to do is shut down the vehicle and throw some IR chem lights out, or an IR beacon. And from the thermal sights I have used for TOW, you would be surprised at how much heat trees buildings and the ground radiate, compared to a vehicle, even with engines running. Be glad you dont get radiation from the trees, finding targets would be much much harder. Realism anyone?

No you suck!

If that is what you wish to believe Nope I understand that. But you somehow think that in my situation that I was going to fly straight into the archer. Nope, I used my brain and let the archer fly into a hill. Thats because they did fire. I was clear about that. But them firing has nothing to do with it. Its WHEN and WHERE they fired, that does. Key word is the opponent CAN run the missle to the ground, not that he DID. Yes, in fact you did. Your exact quote: "So bottom line, it doesn't matter how you killed 5 F-15s or Flankers, you should've died, no matter how good you and your friend are" Sorry but you are wrong. There are situations that dont agree with you. And it doesnt matter how well the 120 is modelled, it will still run into a hill if not fired in the right situation. The logic is flawed because a bad pilot does not fire when he should, and so the good pilot will manuever to put a hill between him and the missle. Why is this so hard for you to grasp. I am not arguing how good the missle modeling is, or anything else. Physics still applies, hills stop missles. I never said otherwise. I never argued this either. My only arguement is, that if an F15 or an Su27 is inept enough to fire his missle low, at a low target, with plenty of hills between them, he should expect his missle to hit one of those hills. And if he loses sight of the target, and continues on his merry way, he should expect to get an R73 in the face from nowhere. And no matter how much you correct the modelling, aint gonna change that. And as Weta43 shows, the Su25T gets shot down a LOT! As it should. And I have never suggested it wouldnt. But, there are situations that are outside the norm. And I described one of them. But continue to argue it, but I wont, I know what happened, and I know it had nothing to do with the modelling of the missile or anything besides a few bad choices.

Once again, the Sim doesnt compensate for a bad pilot, and I hope it never does. But keep missing that fact. If we were flying against any 169er or any other pilot that knew how to fly, we would have died. I dont understand why you cant understand that. Yes, the game should detect noobs, and give them magical missles. Missle can be dodged. And 120's rather easy. All missles will fly into hills, none will magically fly around them. And you dont have to buy it, no one ever asked you to. But just because you dont buy it, doesnt change anything, I believe Fudd has the track of the last engagement.

It doesnt matter what missle you use, if you fire it in a situation where all I have to do is dive, and make it hit a hill. You would expect the flanker to win, but you would also expect the pilot to know how to fly the thing, and when a good firing solution is available. In every engagement, after being painted both me and Fudd went very low. Guess what the opposing side did? Same thing, they went low. Is that realistic? You cant judge the game, based on the person. And AWACS makes a big difference, why? Because the AWACs told us where the opposer was. We dont have radar, so we used AWACs guidance. Also, you stress about dogfight, it seems you think that every engagement ends in a turn fight where the Su25T would lose. There was only 1 dogfight, and I dont think I need to repeat the situation. And the others were head on shots, where we popped over a hill. Sure running would be the realistic thing to do. But then this isnt real, its a game and I can respawn. Either I fly away and end up back at base, or I try for the target and die, and end up back at base. You can argue it all day, but the fact is, most pilots online do not take advantage of the plane, nor the situation. Sure ARH missles are porked, but we dont need to go over that again. The Su25T is a decent aircraft, and against unskilled single (no voice comms) pilots, it is even better. Especially when you do have comms, and you do have AWACS.

You guys should fly with me, there isnt enough chaff on the planet for me to evade a 120. I got so mad yesterday, that I just quite, because I could evade the damn things. And it wasnt even in the NEZ.
-
You dont look at all the variables. 1. We had AWACS 2. Most would fly straight at us, while we were in the weeds. The kills were due to bad tactics, not an unrealistic game. We had R-73's. Saying what you do, implys that a MiG or Su that is down to R-73's shouldnt get any kills either...... The stores only make you turn bad. There was only 1 engagement that became a turn fight, and I was loosing badly. Fudd had hit the guy once, and the engine was smoking, but he was still bearing down on me. Fudd managed to get on his 6 and kill him. It appeared that the guy only thought there was 1 of us, and was going for a guns shot.. I saw missles on him. And he was maybe 20 feet from me. Like I said, bad tactics.

The violent stutter on DualCore CPU in multiplay
Prophet_169th replied to HUQ's topic in Bugs and Problems
Does anyone know how to get this to work with HyperLobby? -
PC specs in sig. I get 4300. And regarding OC'in. My MoBo is the bomb. I dont have to worry about ratios/dividers and all that. There is a spot for FSB speed, and then a seperate one for RAM. The BIOS handles the rest!

Me and Fudd got 5 A-A kills together yesterday against F15C/Su27. We were in in Su25T. Never even bothered to drop loadout either =) Good plane.

I have been watching the Military channel a lot lately. If you watch the videos of the first Gulf War, you see lots of AAA.

Yes, that is what I meant by around =) Bad choice of words.

I notice something with the night vision screens. If you look around the center bright area, there is color.......
-
Also understand, the fee you pay now for Area51 is deducted from your first purchase....
-
That is because there is more net traffic once the missle is fired. So connections with higher packet loss will succumb to this.

TrackIR without TrackIR ? possible.
Prophet_169th replied to zaGURUinzaSKY's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It can work close to trackIR. But you need a high contrast object for it to track. That is what TrackIR does well. The IR reflection has a very high contrast to everything around it. If you had an IR webcam lying around..... lol. -
Tweaking first Explosion in the game
Prophet_169th replied to rnm2000's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I believe there is an error.log file somewhere (sorry not at a comp wiht LOMAC at the moment). I had installed an explosion LOMAN patch, that renamed some files that LOMAC needed for guns explosions. So whenever I fired the gun and the round impacted, it wrote to the error.log of the missing file. And the constant writing to this file was causing my stuttering. It may just be the effects though, you may try turning them down, I am not sure what the 9550 can handle. Also, the stuttering and LOD patches are included with 1.11, so no need to install them.
