  1. its a very smart & refined looking setup i also agree that it looks classier without the switch panel
  2. apparently 1 year later than before you asked (running discord joke)
  3. Hi fallout9, just to confirm that at 0 dz centre it's behaving as the bottom gif If so, that's great! Thank you very much for testing them both. Yep was aware of the good return policy, it's mainly the quantity to be ordered that may add complications if needing to return them, so better for me to know things are working as desire before ordering. Thanks again
  4. just came across this thread which is a few months after I was looking. It gives me hope if nothing has changed since https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/62362-suggestion-to-buy-a-new-joystick-without-dead-zones/
  5. for NXT, the issue was vkb config reports it as set to 0 but users could still see an inactive few degrees around the center, when in the test page and USB config tester. If I remember correctly, the springs were removed when testing. At the time, this is what turned me away from the gladiator and instead went for the gunfighter. The same goes for the Thrustmaster setup software reporting 0 deadszone but one still exists (unless something has changed in the last year). Fallout9 - I'd appreciate it if you could please take some time to test and confirm yourself with a recently built NXT and the EVO if possible? It would be great to know for certain that we can now completely remove it from both I'm often buying the less expensive sticks for work projects and would use these for the next lot if we know for sure.
  6. From the factory, I had a tiny bit of gunk in the valley of one avia-s cam which caused the same symptoms. It was like dried honey and stuck solidly. It needed to be scraped off with edge of a credit card I tried the Avia-H but found they need too much pressure to get the stick moving from centre, causing it to suddenly over travel and harder to control short movements, even though I'm using a 35cm extension offering plenty of leverage (light carbon fibre). If they could modify it so it's just a little softer around the very centre it would be great imo. Of the 3 cams I prefer the Avia-S. One of my bases has #10 spring on each axis for choppers and another has a #40 + #50 on each axis for planes. The helicopter base has deadzone removed and stick stays anywhere it's placed. The plane base eventually re-centres itself exactly after oscillating for a bit, so I'm just using the default deadzone VKB use.
  7. something to note about the nxt v gunfighter bases, and this may have been changed in newer firmware, but at one point the centre deadzones could not be removed on the nxt. Was a bit of an issue for folks removing the springs hoping to use it for helicopters. The gunfighter base can have deadzones removed entirely psa for anyone hoping to mod the following for helicopters - unremovable centre deadzones (of a few degrees) also exist in x56 stick, warthog stick, TM 16000m / airbus sidestick, logitech pro pedals. I'd imagine the same for most other budget sticks / pedals too.
  8. any chance the metal pin has move out of it's slot somehow when tensioner came off? I've had these apart a few times over the years but I'm sorry can't remember much about what's inside the tensioner arrangement
  9. Terrific! ....and it appears it's just a spring loaded bearing/pin to remove if you want to get rid of the centre detent? Thank you very much for sharing your video
  10. Opencomposite has made a massive improvement for me in DCS. I would never have returned to DCS without it. Consistent 30fps with reprojection for 90 has been amazing with minimal artefacts (versus 22.5fps reprojection). Prior to OC I would struggle to get much over 23 with same game settings. I've got a couple of systems but i'm generally using a 5900x, 3080, 32g of 3600 ram and a g2
  11. I'm not sure if the joystick base needs to make connection to the grip to work (for x and y to register), but it might be worth disconnecting and reconnecting the grip to the base.
  12. just a heads up for x55/x56, Warthog, T16000/Airbus (and Saitek/Logitech pedal users) if not already aware, they have a small centre deadzone of a few degrees programmed into the firmware. Unfortunately it can't be removed in their setup/calibration software. Unless you're using an extension of some kind you may not be aware of it. The longer the extension the more noticeable it is
  13. Hi Picchio, I've just sent you a message.
  14. If ebay UK has the same rules as Aus ebay, they don't permit contact between buyer / seller outside of the ebay messaging system (unless it has to do with returns or warranty etc) or transactions outside of the ebay system (cash sales etc). Sharing contact details like addresses and phone numbers prior to the transaction gets users penalised.
  15. that's a bummer. i thought they'd have taken a leaf from the huey book now it's working well
  16. yes maybe my bad, thought pro L meant the plastic grip with long extension (MCG pro L) have you tried doing a reset of the black box (pressing the grey button while connecting USB cable) then re flashing? your review here is of the plastic Pro grip. I haven't read the entire thread and you've since updated to the ultimate? Anyway, hope you find a solution
  17. for the GFIII - although some folks have put 2 x 50's in for each axis, I remember reading the max recommended is a 40 & 50 together per axis The ultimate is a heavy grip. with the 20cm extension, expect to get some bouncing back / forth of the stick when centering, even with heavy springs and tightened clutches
  18. No worries Did you replace your grip? Your sig says you have the MCG Pro Ultimate. Does that model exist? (Pro is plastic grip, Ultimate is metal grip and heavy). Pros on left, Ultimate on right null If you have an Ultimate, I'm guessing it has twist and you have the black coloured black box (Mk2)? This is the firmware file name for that grip, from the July 5 .zip if you want to double check _BB_Mk2_GunFighter_MCG_Ultimate_Twist_v2_11_5.vkb
  19. I haven't had anything unusual with July 5 and have falshed it into 3 x GFIII bases (two ultimates and space grip) If you are brave enough to try it again some time, your issue might be related to what I've posted in bottom of this thread and VKB have done it intentionally to help folk connecting two identical grips at the same time - in my case, one setup for helicopters and one for jets I would certainly agree that VKB have a significant lack in info/documentation for how the configuration software works. I sense the software development is a one man band. I hope nothing happens to him otherwise VKB could be stuck at July 5 for e v v e e e e e e r r r r r r r r r r r r
  20. You're welcome, The missions that come with the AV8B have the irmavs pre cooled ready to go. You'll generally need to cool them manually if in multiplayer. I'm unsure how to change this in single player missions. The TPOD (targeting pod) is an option that can attach to the harrier in place of a missile or other weapon (or tank? i believe it mounts directly under the fuselage. It has a longer lens and other functions which offers a better view of targets from further out than the dmt (built into the harriers nose). Once you've lined up the target using the tpod, the irmav can then slave/align itself to this (using the steps mentioned above) for a lock, then once fired the mav is fire/forget as per usual If the tpod is attached, you press the button you've assigned to "sensor select down" twice to get the tpod view to appear on the mfd. It always appears on the right mfd. In the current procedure you can't have both the tpod and IRMV show simultaneously. This vid seems to be the same as current procedures that I'm aware of
  21. if you do get a lock and mavs won't fire - engine nozzles need to be at 30 degrees or less - mavs didn't complete their cooling, possibly because of entering tpod mode which disables the mavs as you enter it. (catches me out a lot), or the arm button got disabled - sometimes the mavs just wont cool at all (unknown cause, aircraft damage?? bug??) if I can't get them to cool shortly after takeoff I just restart the flight as I can't seem to fix it. I'm usually in multiplayer when it happens so may be related to server bug?
  22. btw - to clear the current mav lock on the ground, re cage the mav, then press NWS button, then uncage it again as zildac mentioned above - if you are using the tpod to set a target, when you uncage the mav, you then press sensor select forward one time to switch to IRMV mode, then TDC down. You need to "release" the tdc button for the mav to grab the target without having to slew slightly. Pressing the tdc down and not releasing it will not grab target. So many iterations of the irmav operation, it's quite confusing when trying to find a good tute are other jets as tedious to operate weapons as the harrier?
  23. I find it erratic at times too. Just to check - once you've uncaged the mavs, when you are slewing, are you in IRMV mode?
