if I'm using non centering pedals (and non centering cyclic) and everything stays put when not held, is the rudder trim required with MI24 for comfortable flying while not firing weapons? Is it something to assist with the AP? Thank you - I've just purchased it but haven't yet flown it.

Me too!! I'm a little disappointed there are no dedicated Huey multiplayer servers for some door gun fun. (I don't know of any?) It's not as realistic as yours Hannibal, but I got to recycle some left over stuff around the house. Yours was my inspiration a year or so back. It uses a magnet / hall sensor where it pivots. null

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
Dogmanbird replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi F410, I've noticed some of the audio waveform loops are not starting/ending at the same voltage (therefore produces a click each time it loops). It was causing a loud click through my shakers without any practical vibration, so I've edited and lined up their start/end points. However, I was wondering if this was intentional and an attempt to create an effect? edit - maybe this is part of the soundcard addon and not your development? Please excuse my question if so. -
AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
Dogmanbird replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks for sharing your experiences with it. I'm guessing one would see similar advantages over 5900x if running 1440 and lower? -
I see the morphing in the 3 maps I have. have to say, when flying very low, they still look a dozen times better than MSFS2000's trees imho

I wanted compact pedals that I could quickly switch between heli and planes, also with toe brakes, so I created these no-frills ones. They've been working well for me the last year or more. 3 hall sensors and an arduino and about $70 to build. I've refined them a little more since the video below https://i.imgur.com/s83c4ed.mp4

most of the cheaper ones from logitec and TM etc. that i've experimented with have a centre deadzone that is in the firmware and can't be removed, should you decide to remove the spring. I ended up swapping out the pcb with an arduino in the Logitech ones below. Overall they still feel pretty junky compared to the more expensive ones.

p.s. if you're not aware, there's a small firmware centre deadzone from factory. You can completely remove it using the vkb firmware/config editor

If it's of any interest I have a "zero-prestige" arrangement I made a wooden box that fits around the gunfighter base plate with a sandwich of 3 coreflute plastic layers to act as a damper and keep the cyclic in place when not held. The coreflute has candle wax rubbed on it as dry lube. it's completely sticktionless and can make very fine inputs. The goosenecks are made out of broken carbon fibre windsurfing booms and weigh very little. The gunfighter base currently has the weakest set of single springs installed and the fixed wing cams, but they aren't even needed with the damping and it just stops the stick slowly sagging when at it's extremes. The clutches are fully loosened. video of it working https://i.imgur.com/f5zvpaH.mp4

Can DCS aircraft and maps purchased in steam be moved over to standalone, or is it only the base game? Ta -

same for me in that I'm unable to use the scaling without a DCS crash. World scale and other features work fine. However, everything works correctly in MSFS This is a strange one eh. I've tested open composite on 3 systems with dcs and its made a huge improvement on each. -

It's just now updated on my win 11 install today (manually). The other machine that already had it is win 10 which I manually updated weeks ago. Seems to be available on a machine-by-machine basis. -

strange, I've had that one for at least a few weeks, probably more. -
I've noticed that since the recent DCS game update, the grass now sways when hovering over it. I don't think this happened before did it? edit - doesn't always happen. maybe it's just gust of wind

Can I please ask - those of you who see a noticeable difference with the VRdirectx profile, what your IPD is? (what you would normally set your headset to or what your optometrist said you have) years ago I experimented making stereoscopic video with a pair of cameras, and at the time I was told to be careful with camera angle (not camera distance apart) that people with above average IPD will be affected more greatly by angle settings and can give a surreal effect if angle is too extreme. -

I'm presently getting a 3.3gig open beta update on steam, which must have been released some time today? Has anyone tried it with the mods? Edit - the version is 2.7.11.22211 -
I experience the same. It's as if WMR reprojection omits certain graphical content from the reprojection or drops the frequency for them, where Steam MR may not? Other aircraft and vehicles seem to be updated at a slower frequency than most of the landscape, even if they are almost stationary. Sometimes the trees appear to ghost/fine stutter while the ground and mountains are perfectly smooth at 90fps.

Do you notice any extra lag from your joystick etc? I find it nearly doubles the latency when set to higher values, which is a bit of a pain in the choppers
