  1. I both do and do not want ED to know how much I'd be willing to pay for a full-fidelity MiG-25. (Hint - it's a lot). It is hands-down my grail aircraft for DCS. Well... that and a MiG-21-93. The MiG-25 would be a phenomenal addition to the growing Cold War roster, and an excellent adversary for both the F-4 and the F-14, depending on the era and setting. I think it would be an absolute monster in Cold War multiplayer, especially the PD with look-down radar capability. Obviously the MiG-25 is no dogfighter, but it would make for some really interesting hunter/hunted scenarios, bomber escort, high-alt reconnaissance and/or fleet defence. Especially if aircraft like the B-58 Hustler, Tu-22 Blinder and SR-71 were modelled along with it as AI assets.
  2. Since the last Open Beta patch I've noticed dramatically increased radar noise from ground clutter at low altitudes. It's not universal, but over a lot of terrain at starting at around 1500m-ish altitude the most of the lower half of the screen is solid yellow ground clutter return. I didn't see anything in the patch notes, so am I seeing things, or has anybody else noticed it? I'm not complaining - while it's a substantial capability loss, it does seem a lot closer to the real-world limitations of the RP-22. Just curious if this was deliberate or something unintended?
  3. Apologies if this has been asked and answered, but will any of the airfields be equipped with systems to support the various radio-homing equipment? Ie th e AFN-2 in the Bf-109, Fw-190, etc. Or will we still need to do a workaround with scripting?
  4. Bumping. Issue is occurring more frequently, and now its happening mid-sortie on MP servers. It's not a coolant issue, all switches are correct, but seems like it might be a lag issue? When pressing the lock button the radar birdie will flicker but never locks. Self-test mode on the radar actually works, but only locks when holding the lock button for a few seconds. Holding the lock button does nothing for actual targets - hostile or friendly. Repairing does nothing - only reslotting into a new plane fixes it.
  5. As the title states - the chase AI in Baron 1 fires an AIM-9 on me as soon as I go wheels up, causing an engine flameout and a crash. In the F-10 map the Player AC and all the MiGs are Red, while the AI is Blue. Might need to be re-coded as the same coalition and/or ROE reset.

    ARC stations

This is immensely helpful. Thank you! The current kneeboard ARC station map can be hard to read at times. Would love to see this added as standard to the kneeboards.
  7. The intermittent bug where the radar will refuse to lock a target no matter what's done appears to be back. It seems to happen only occasionally, and after landing and re-arming/refueling on a multiplayer server. Radar was working normally prior to a 2nd sortie, had lots of coolant left, no warning indicators. All switches confirmed correct. Targets will appear on the scope but flicker when in the TDC and cannot be locked. The lock button actuates (can hear it clicking and it moves) but no lock. Checked with high RCS targets flying head on and tail chase; friendly & hostile, tried the low-speed filters on/off - no effect. Even tried the self-test mode, and it will display a birdie but it likewise can't be locked. Re-spawning into a new plane fixes the issue. dcs.log
  8. The bandits are also equipped with 1990's era all-aspect AIM-9P5's, which makes a 1v7(?!) merge pretty suicidal. The AWACS ignores Bogey Dope calls about half the time, so maintaining SA is almost impossible, and all it takes is one of the 7(?!) enemy aircraft to get nose-on within 5km and you're toast. The AI wingman is hit/miss on whether he gets shot down immediately on the first merge or actually does anything useful. So far the best bet seems to be to loiter over the SAM site and hope it takes out 3 or 4 to make it more of an even contest. I think I'm on attempt 12 or 13 so far. Pretty frustrating. Edit: Just loitering around the south end of the lake does the trick - the SAMs will shoot down all the bandits other than the choppers, which are then fairly easy to clean up.
  9. I've come to enjoy using the Mission Editor almost as much as I have flying planes. Being a Cold War guy, the lack of alternate aircraft to the modernized E-2/E-3/A-50 is a bit of a bummer. Especially with the phabulous Phantom rapidly approaching. So, my humble request is for these two beauties to be implemented: EC-121 Warning Star Tu-126 Ideally these would have appropriately reduced capabilities from the more modern AWACS that we currently have modelled. I realize that the Tu-126 was a very limited platform with poor look-down capability over land compared to the EC-121. Soviet-era RedFor problems.... Worst case scenario, I'd happily take these as skins/alternate models for the E-2D, and handwave the superior capabilities as being really, really good controllers on board bouncing the radar off of some conveniently placed swamp gas. Thanks!
  10. Just out of curiousity, what's different about the Mirage F1 and the upcoming F-4 that Aerges and HB are able to offer multiple proposed variants? Is it purely a resources issue for Mag 3, or is the code for the MiG-21 so substantially different as to preclude other variants? If its a matter of resources for Mag3 - given how popular the Cold War server has become, and that the MiG-21 appears to be the most popular module on it (though the F1 seems to be hot on its heels) I have to think that there's a strong market for MiG-21 2.0 to be even more popular than it currently is, if we had more than one variant to choose from. In my fever dreams I imagine: MiG-21 F-13 for early Cold War scenarios - best visibility, hot-rod handling and a gun for those airquake shenanigans. MiG-21bis II for all the awesomeness we currently know and love. MiG-21-93/UPG/Bison/LanceR for those of us who love the idea of taking on 4th gens with more of a fighting chance than we currently have. (Elbit 2032 radar, HUD/Shchel-3UM and R-77/R-73 capability etc) I'm not sure I want Mag 3 to know how much I'd be willing to pay for such a module... but its a lot.
  11. Sweet! That would be amazing - as I said, I'm very much enjoying the campaign - its shame that ED updates make so much unnecessary work for you guys. I suppose a wishlist item for ED would be to have the default loadout be something era-appropriate for the airframe, instead of always being the most modern and best-available missiles. Especially for legacy aircraft that are less likely to get pitted against 4th gens packing AMRAAM's and -9x's. Hopefully with the release of the HB F-4 there will be options for AIM-9B, AIM-9J as well.
  12. I'm really enjoying the campaign, but most of the enemy aircraft seem to be equipped with Gulf War era AIM-9M's instead of the AIM-9P's that would seem more appropriate for 1978. Or at least AIM-9L's - though going up against multiple perfect-SA AI aircraft armed with all-aspect heaters can be a very frustrating experience with the less-than-helpful AI wingmen.
  13. I had attempted all that the previous evening: Shut down every conceivable program and app other than DCS Turned off all peripherals other than mouse to test if it was a device conflict Confirmed firewall settings were as previous with DCS as an exception (it was, but I also tried turning it off completely, as well as antivirus off) Reduced graphics to potato-tier settings Rebooted modem (directly linked to the modem) Turned off Wifi and Bluetooth Rolled back GPU drivers to an update a week or so ago The only things I didn't try (that I could think of - I barely know a thing about PC's) were uninstalling and re-installing DCS, and doing a full Windows re-install. All of it failed, or actually seemed to make things worse, as I couldn't even click on menu buttons without it freezing and needing to be closed from the Task Manager - whereupon I started this thread. I reset everything to where I'd started and went to bed. And then, lo and behold, when I got on tonight to set a baseline as a control and then start trying other solutions, the game worked FLAWLESSLY on the first go. Tried simple single-player, complex single-player with a ton of AI assets, and then multiplayer on a busy server. Ran buttah-smooth at all times. Better than it has in since an update or two ago, actually. Absolutely perfect with zero stutters or lag whatsoever after the MP server loaded everything in. Bizarre, because I had changed absolutely nothing from where it was set last PM when I started having problems, and the game was completely unplayable. No bloody idea what caused it, or solved it. Appeared and disappeared out of the blue. Dunno if you guys tweaked something last PM, but it works superbly now. Appreciate the help, though.
  14. Mid-game on the ECW server this evening I got a lag spike so severe I had to ctrl-alt-delete out of DCS as it had frozen up completely. Had been working perfectly up to that point. Back in the main menu, tried to load a single-player game - stuttered and then froze completely and again had to ctrl-alt-delete out of the game. Closed DCS and rebooted, only now I couldn't even get anywhere in the menu, 5-10 seconds just for a click to process to get to a menu screen, with severe stuttering in any menu screen or the mission editor. No more than 40% RAM usage the whole time, and all other applications working perfectly. Rebooted my computer - no change. Ran DCS repair - also no change. All other games and programs work flawlessly. I had been playing DCS without issue throughout the day until about 1130hrs EST. No changes to drivers or settings or hardware. Currently not even the menu works correctly - it takes between 2-10 seconds for a click on any button to process, if at all. Mission editor is stuttering with hiccups every 4-6 seconds lasting 1-2 seconds. Currently the game is completely unplayable due to stuttering and freezing. I tried Juice's method as shown in some of the other stuttering threads to no avail. Track from the last attempt to fly attached. Thanks in advance Specs are Intel I7 8700 NVIDIA GTX 1070 32 GB RAM 1TB SSD Severe stuttering.trk

    R-73 missile?

Listening to Mag 3's interview with the Air Combat Sim podcast - there is a brief mention of adding capability to fire the R.550 Magic (I presume it would be the 1976-vintage Magic I version, to emulate the Iraqi modification used in the Iran-Iraq war). Seems like a no-brainer, given that it is a verified historical usage. Having read through the whole thread, the R-73 (likely without the Schel-3UM HMS, and just bore-sighted) also seems entirely reasonable, and a straightforward way to make the MiG-21bis a bit more competitive for those who want to pit it against 4th gen aircraft. Obviously it would need to be limited in Cold War servers or missions intended to simulate a 1970's-era conflict.
  16. FWIW in missions 1-4 so far all the wingmen seem to have reverted to Serbian skins. Really enjoying the campaign, but it's a bit immersion-breaking.
  17. Was playing normally without issue, then the MP server reset and was booted to my desktop. Game showed up in task manager but no window visible, had to close via task manager. Upon trying to re-launch I get a 'invalid username or password' error message. I can log into my account no problem, reset my password just to be sure, then ran repair Open Beta - all to no avail. Confirmed username and password are entered correctly but all credentials get the same error message. Any suggestions?
  18. The F10 Map on Caucasus glitches out below a certain zoom level. Happens in both MP and SP.
  19. The RP-22 is also quite susceptible to notching. A lot of the time when I lose contacts they're simply flying at 90 degrees to my current heading (often while turning with other A/C) and they'll pop back up as soon as they're hot/cold again. I haven't yet done any experimenting to figure out what the precise angle off-nose a fighter-sized contact needs to be before it'll disappear. Maybe one of the veterans here will chime in.
  20. Seems like this recurring bug is back. Low-altitude and radar on results in severe FPS drops for me. Worse on SP than MP, for some strange reason. Radar off, FPS snaps back to normal. Very noticeable since last patch a few days ago.
  21. Always Hopefully the new module will correct some of these issues. Thanks!
  22. I voted for the Stuka, but the F-105 was a close second. The Stuka would be a Day 1 purchase for me. The F-105 would be a definite purchase once I've worked my way through my module collection.
  23. Just out of curiosity, how would they be different if they were properly implemented?
  24. Plausible? MiG-17F Su-22M A6M Zero Mirage III Wish list? DCS World: Vietnam Dynamic Campaign MiG-25 MiG-29
  25. Holy crap that looks insanely awesome! That's a confirmed buy for me. I can only imagine what the better multi-player servers like Enigma's will be able to do with a flyable C-130.
