  1. Has Sinai been abandoned already, or are there any updates in the foreseeable future? The missing Bullseye feature is getting to be a PITA and limiting mission-making.
  2. Been playing more Warbirds lately and the Spitfire AI is hilariously ridiculous. Turns on a dime, climbs like it has an F-16 engine in it, makes 1000m shots with single-taps of the 20mm, never stalls, and can go from ripping around at 20deg a second to a dive so slow I have to cut engine not to overshoot, whereupon it somehow can still climb several thousand meters instantly. The other Allied Warbirds seem fine - its just the Spitfire that is straight UFO to the point of absurdity.
  3. Tried out the Bf 109 in a goofing around mission, and by my count from the debrief I hit an AI P-51 twelve times with the Mk 108, along with a whole bunch of 13mm. It took 5 hits of 30mm before the AI would abort mission, but it was still maneuvering I had to chase it down and pump another 7 into it to get the engine to quit, but no structural damage other than lots of holes. Many if not most looked to be fuselage hits from what I could see. It glided about halfway across the channel before making a successful water landing and no kill awarded. Compared to the 20mm MG151's the Mk 108 feels almost useless. I don't know if it's a damage model bug or something is coded incorrectly with the Mk 108 but it really sucks the fun out of the K-4. Mk108 no damage.trk
  4. Same probelm. Any attempt to load a multiplayer track file causes a reproducible crash to desktop. Not even a 'DCS has crashed' popup - just straight to desktop.
  5. 17 December 2023 and Bullseye still bugged. 17 December 2023 and Bullseye still bugged.
  6. In DCS the MiG-23 should shine as a high-speed hit & run aircraft with good BVR capabilities compared to its peer aircraft (primarily the F-4E). It should also have the acceleration to withdraw from an unfavourable position and then re-set the fight.. It's not going to out-turn a Viper, obviously, but I suspect it'll be a monster in the Cold War servers. In a Fox1-only environment it should also be able to hold its own against 4th gens if flown to its strengths. Hopefully we see some more late 70's and early 80's -A variants of the teen-series down the line, and the MiG-23 will be a natural dance partner for those modules.
  7. So, upon rebooting DCS the issue seems to have corrected itself. Weird.
  8. Unless I've missed an update or some sort toggle to switch them on/off - the SAM site location markers are no longer appearing on the Sinai map. The terrain objects themselves are there, but the missile icons seem to be gone. Hopefully this is a temporary glitch? Those icons are one of the best features of the map! Thanks!
  9. Noice! That's great to hear. Thanks!
  10. With the Sinai map out and looking great, and the MiG-21 being a natural fit for Six Day War/October War re-enactments, I'd love to see RSBN beacons added, as was done with Syria.
  11. Mine's all sorted and working well. Frustrating, but I'm grateful ED sorted it out promptly.
  12. I love those sort of Brush War scenarios. A dodgy cargo plane trying to do a combat drop on some grass runway while being escorted/intercepted by some light attack aircraft and/or armed utility helos sounds awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvbwcLd1S0Y Great movie and one of the coolest scenes in it.
  13. Yeah, this sucks. WTF. I don't mind waiting for a while to install an update but having absolutely everything I own de-authorized isn't much fun. nullnull
  14. I would fly the snot out of an An-2. It was used as a bomber in several conflicts, and the short field takeoff/landing capability would make it something unique and totally different from a C-130 or other heavy cargo plane. Bad weather, night operations, or flying in mountainous terrain would be a blast in an aircraft like that. I realize that civilian flight sims can offer that experience, but since neither my SSD or wallet are bottomless, I would much rather have it in DCS.
  15. I both do and do not want ED to know how much I'd be willing to pay for a full-fidelity MiG-25. (Hint - it's a lot). It is hands-down my grail aircraft for DCS. Well... that and a MiG-21-93. The MiG-25 would be a phenomenal addition to the growing Cold War roster, and an excellent adversary for both the F-4 and the F-14, depending on the era and setting. I think it would be an absolute monster in Cold War multiplayer, especially the PD with look-down radar capability. Obviously the MiG-25 is no dogfighter, but it would make for some really interesting hunter/hunted scenarios, bomber escort, high-alt reconnaissance and/or fleet defence. Especially if aircraft like the B-58 Hustler, Tu-22 Blinder and SR-71 were modelled along with it as AI assets.
  16. Since the last Open Beta patch I've noticed dramatically increased radar noise from ground clutter at low altitudes. It's not universal, but over a lot of terrain at starting at around 1500m-ish altitude the most of the lower half of the screen is solid yellow ground clutter return. I didn't see anything in the patch notes, so am I seeing things, or has anybody else noticed it? I'm not complaining - while it's a substantial capability loss, it does seem a lot closer to the real-world limitations of the RP-22. Just curious if this was deliberate or something unintended?
  17. Apologies if this has been asked and answered, but will any of the airfields be equipped with systems to support the various radio-homing equipment? Ie th e AFN-2 in the Bf-109, Fw-190, etc. Or will we still need to do a workaround with scripting?
  18. Bumping. Issue is occurring more frequently, and now its happening mid-sortie on MP servers. It's not a coolant issue, all switches are correct, but seems like it might be a lag issue? When pressing the lock button the radar birdie will flicker but never locks. Self-test mode on the radar actually works, but only locks when holding the lock button for a few seconds. Holding the lock button does nothing for actual targets - hostile or friendly. Repairing does nothing - only reslotting into a new plane fixes it.
  19. As the title states - the chase AI in Baron 1 fires an AIM-9 on me as soon as I go wheels up, causing an engine flameout and a crash. In the F-10 map the Player AC and all the MiGs are Red, while the AI is Blue. Might need to be re-coded as the same coalition and/or ROE reset.

    ARC stations

This is immensely helpful. Thank you! The current kneeboard ARC station map can be hard to read at times. Would love to see this added as standard to the kneeboards.
  21. The intermittent bug where the radar will refuse to lock a target no matter what's done appears to be back. It seems to happen only occasionally, and after landing and re-arming/refueling on a multiplayer server. Radar was working normally prior to a 2nd sortie, had lots of coolant left, no warning indicators. All switches confirmed correct. Targets will appear on the scope but flicker when in the TDC and cannot be locked. The lock button actuates (can hear it clicking and it moves) but no lock. Checked with high RCS targets flying head on and tail chase; friendly & hostile, tried the low-speed filters on/off - no effect. Even tried the self-test mode, and it will display a birdie but it likewise can't be locked. Re-spawning into a new plane fixes the issue. dcs.log
  22. The bandits are also equipped with 1990's era all-aspect AIM-9P5's, which makes a 1v7(?!) merge pretty suicidal. The AWACS ignores Bogey Dope calls about half the time, so maintaining SA is almost impossible, and all it takes is one of the 7(?!) enemy aircraft to get nose-on within 5km and you're toast. The AI wingman is hit/miss on whether he gets shot down immediately on the first merge or actually does anything useful. So far the best bet seems to be to loiter over the SAM site and hope it takes out 3 or 4 to make it more of an even contest. I think I'm on attempt 12 or 13 so far. Pretty frustrating. Edit: Just loitering around the south end of the lake does the trick - the SAMs will shoot down all the bandits other than the choppers, which are then fairly easy to clean up.
  23. I've come to enjoy using the Mission Editor almost as much as I have flying planes. Being a Cold War guy, the lack of alternate aircraft to the modernized E-2/E-3/A-50 is a bit of a bummer. Especially with the phabulous Phantom rapidly approaching. So, my humble request is for these two beauties to be implemented: EC-121 Warning Star Tu-126 Ideally these would have appropriately reduced capabilities from the more modern AWACS that we currently have modelled. I realize that the Tu-126 was a very limited platform with poor look-down capability over land compared to the EC-121. Soviet-era RedFor problems.... Worst case scenario, I'd happily take these as skins/alternate models for the E-2D, and handwave the superior capabilities as being really, really good controllers on board bouncing the radar off of some conveniently placed swamp gas. Thanks!
  24. Just out of curiousity, what's different about the Mirage F1 and the upcoming F-4 that Aerges and HB are able to offer multiple proposed variants? Is it purely a resources issue for Mag 3, or is the code for the MiG-21 so substantially different as to preclude other variants? If its a matter of resources for Mag3 - given how popular the Cold War server has become, and that the MiG-21 appears to be the most popular module on it (though the F1 seems to be hot on its heels) I have to think that there's a strong market for MiG-21 2.0 to be even more popular than it currently is, if we had more than one variant to choose from. In my fever dreams I imagine: MiG-21 F-13 for early Cold War scenarios - best visibility, hot-rod handling and a gun for those airquake shenanigans. MiG-21bis II for all the awesomeness we currently know and love. MiG-21-93/UPG/Bison/LanceR for those of us who love the idea of taking on 4th gens with more of a fighting chance than we currently have. (Elbit 2032 radar, HUD/Shchel-3UM and R-77/R-73 capability etc) I'm not sure I want Mag 3 to know how much I'd be willing to pay for such a module... but its a lot.
  25. Sweet! That would be amazing - as I said, I'm very much enjoying the campaign - its shame that ED updates make so much unnecessary work for you guys. I suppose a wishlist item for ED would be to have the default loadout be something era-appropriate for the airframe, instead of always being the most modern and best-available missiles. Especially for legacy aircraft that are less likely to get pitted against 4th gens packing AMRAAM's and -9x's. Hopefully with the release of the HB F-4 there will be options for AIM-9B, AIM-9J as well.
