  1. Y'know what's even worse than that? I bought it two thursdays ago, right when it came out, and haven't had time to try it out yet! Life as a flight instructor here got way more busy now that the weather here is getting better. Plus I just bought a new motorcycle. :P --NoJoe
  2. Try bailing out while on the ground. The head-first dive he does into the pavement is kinda funny. :) --NoJoe
  3. Haha, that's what I did too. So I figured "Why not?" and bailed out onto the pavement. Which, I might add, is quite hilarious! My wife nearly fell over, she was laughing so hard when I did that! Looks like you're right! I just fired up the Hawg and Batumi looks the same. I guess I need more sleep or something... I'll just go back to making dinner now.. --NoJoe
  4. Anyone else noticing some changes to some of the airports? For example, it looks like the taxiway layout at Batumi has been updated. :D --NoJoe
  5. Once you buy and install the P-51D module, it has some Mustang-specific options in it (autorudder, etc.) On a different note, warehouses and resupply? Sounds very interesting! A step toward some kind of dynamic missions? "Dynamic Campaign", even? --NoJoe
  6. Wow guys, downloading now! :D It's almost unfortunate that I have to go flight instruct now. But I'll be back in a few hours, maybe the download will be done by then. WOOOOO HOOOOOO! --NoJoe [EDIT] I'll seed all evening, too.
  7. Manifold pressure is essentially how you measure how "hard" you're working the engine. Pretty much any airplane with a constant-speed propeller has a manifold pressure gauge. Even the small general aviation planes I fly have it, and that's how you set the power. Climb at 25" of manifold pressure, cruise at around 23", and poke along slowly at 15" or so. And yeah, the Rolls-Royce Merlin engines were carbureted. Not sure why they didn't have fuel injection... Simpler, I guess. [shrug]. --NoJoe
  8. Oh, it is? Whoops. I guess it's been a long time since I've flown around that terrain. Carry on... --NoJoe
  9. Gah, you're such a tease, Paul! ;) Nice screenshots though! --NoJoe
  10. Hahaha, TurboHog WHAT HAPPENED??? --NoJoe
  11. Oh wow, nice one Jack! At first glance that shot looks real! --NoJoe
  12. I'm chiming in late here, and there's not much for me to add since it's all been said before. But: 1. I'm very excited about this P-51 release; I can't wait to fly it around the virtual skies in full DCS-detail glory! 2. I'm very excited about the next DCS Pointy Jet, too; can't wait for that one to come out, either. 3. As others have said, I see no reason for people to be upset about the Mustang. It's not slowing anything down, nobody is forcing people to fly it, etc. etc. I see no negative aspect of the P-51 release; only positive! :D 4. Also, I think it'll be fun to try to fly the P-51 in a modern combat setting. Just for the fun of it! I fully expect many parachute rides to the ground, heh. Eagle Dynamics: super awesome! --NoJoe
  13. It is? I saw these guys (in Real Life) in Olympia, Washington this past June. It was a great demo show, until a part flew off the jet during a low pass, heh. (it was one of the wing panels above the right inboard flap; no one was hurt, and the A-10 landed fine) --NoJoe
  14. I really like MrYenko's explanation, too. --NoJoe
  15. Yeah, I think that's the issue Lobo** was talking about. Sounds like it is fixed for version 1.1.1.1. --NoJoe
  16. I have a similar thing happen to me occasionally with my X52 Pro. Turns out it does that when the cable between the throttle and the stick comes loose. Try unplugging and re-plugging both ends and see if that helps. --NoJoe
  17. My longest flight in real life was from Billings, MT (KBIL) to Lewiston, ID (KLWS) in a Piper Archer back in 2007. It took about 3.5 hours. (long solo cross country flight for my commercial certificate) My longest simulated flight in A-10 is probably only about 1.5 to 2 hours. Not much time for simming anymore. --NoJoe
  18. Hehe, that's what I did about 5 minutes after install (and hearing that the bird was in English). I respect the decision to have English voices in the Russian cockpit, but I'm really glad we can mod things to get those Russian voices back! :) It just doesn't seem right to have English voices in a Russian helicopter -- with a Russian cockpit. It does mean I need to brush up on my Russian, though. Spasiba, Nate! --NoJoe
  19. Hopefully, and if all goes well... ;) We've all seen Wags' forum signature: "EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE" --NoJoe
  20. ... That is so freakin cool!! I had somehow missed this bit of info all this time. Thanks for posting that, Bushmanni! --NoJoe
  21. I think I recognized some of those engine sounds... ;) --NoJoe
  22. Haha, that made me laugh. :) So when we ask that the map be expanded to include such-and-such area, what we're really asking is for the artists to have yet more time away from home and family. ;) Almost makes me want the Nevada update to be as small as possible. ...Almost. --NoJoe
  23. I just finished (re)reading William Smallwood's book about A-10s in the first Gulf War. He describes that marking targets with smoke, especially later in the war, convinced the vehicle crews to run for their lives, making it even easier for the A-10s to destroy the armor. The Air Force's main goal was to destroy the enemy's equipment, so this was a double bonus. Stationary tanks and artillery that didn't shoot back! He also describes that since the A-10s were essentially silent above 5,000 feet, the smoke was merely an indicator that things were about to blow up. You didn't know when, or where, or from what. That was apparently demoralizing enough for the crews. "We're outta here!" --NoJoe
  24. Awesome, thanks for the explanation! So I guess in that case, never mind to my previous posts. Hope I didn't confuse things further for Fakum. --NoJoe
  25. I guess this brings up the question: in order to create a markpoint where the TGP is looking, doesn't the TGP need to be SPI? Or is a markpoint created wherever the TGP is looking, regardless of SPI (for instance, if the SPI is still set to the steerpoint instead of the TGP)? --NoJoe (gah, so many three letter acronyms! )
