  1. I'd add that you should make sure you're being smooth with the stick and throttle inputs. Jerky movements just make things worse. Relax your grip, take a deep breath in and out, and be smooooooth. --NoJoe
  2. Aaaaand... It's done. My pledge is in. :D Looking forward to seeing how this all turns out. --NoJoe
  3. Okay, you guys get my $40 pledge as soon as I get home. :) --NoJoe
  4. I think I'll be doing the $40 level. I've been eyeing that one ever since the announcement, but haven't done it yet. I think the reason why I haven't pulled the trigger is that money is tight, and if I was going to receive 3 DCS-level planes for free anyway, why pay? I mean, don't get me wrong, I definitely want to support this project! But I think that's what's going on in my head subconsciously. Now suddenly if I'll need to pay to get those planes, that's what'll get me off the fence and into a pledge. And I'll bet there are a bunch of people out there just like me. :) --NoJoe
  5. I'm embarrassed to admit, but I have not pledged yet. But all this talk of making only 1 plane free to non-backers has me reaching for my wallet. So I say, do that! Make only 1 plane free to the general non-kickstarting public. That way I'll have no excuse not to pledge. :D --NoJoe
  6. Wow...! Great sound! --NoJoe
  7. Is ... Is that an Eagle with a GoPro on its back?!? This has now replaced "sharks with frikken' laser beams" as the coolest animal/technology combination. I love it! :D
  8. Haha Sondo, that was awesome! --NoJoe
  9. I just make separate profiles with the Saitek profile editor, and use the profile to assign keystrokes to each joystick button. That way all I need to do is load up the Saitek profile for the specific aircraft, and everything works fine (as long as the default keys for the aircraft don't change). It was a bit tedious, but at least this way I only had to do a tedious thing once. ;) --NoJoe
  10. Yeah, people probably would. ;) I have huge respect for all the developers here; I think I'd lose my sanity if I had to deal with these sorts of complaints all day every day. --NoJoe
  11. Ah geez, there's a sale on? Hmmm, I've been on the fence about buying the Mi-8, maybe this will push me to buy it. $20 is a GREAT price! :D --NoJoe
  12. Make sure your Visibility Range isn't set to Low. That'll cause what you describe. --NoJoe
  13. Hahaha, touche!
  14. It's only 9am on the west coast. :)
  15. Oh, there it is, probably the "new ambient sound system" or "wind/turbulence sound". Sweet. :D --NoJoe
  16. I love the new wingtip vortices. And I just noticed the high-AoA wind sounds in the Mig and Su-27. The wind sound changes as you pull Gs, which is great! Is that new or did I just never notice it until now...? --NoJoe
  17. Haha, I love that movie. :) Well, the airplane parts, any way. [EDIT], in response to Luthier's post above mine: Sounds like you're doing the best of both worlds.. Separate by default, but still giving us the option to combine them into one big DCS World. Sounds good to me.
  18. Just gotta say, I think this sounds really good! :) I love playing with scenarios using equipment that was not meant for it (a Hornet in a WWII environment would be a fun experiment!). For that matter, I'm really looking forward to the pure WWII environment too. Thanks to everyone involved for all your hard work! --NoJoe
  19. Ah, I see. I was thinking you were talking specifically about the optics capabilities of each. No prob, carry on. :joystick: --NoJoe
  20. Wait, do you have a source for this? That's a pretty strong statement to make and just expect people to take it as fact. Plus, it'd be interesting to read about. Do you have a link or anything? :) --NoJoe [EDIT] I say this because, according to physics (and an equation on Wikipedia), you'd only need a lens diameter of 9cm to get 16cm resolution from 70,000 feet, compared to a 2.4 meter lens to get the same from a medium Earth orbit (where Hubble is, at 590km). I bet it's no problem to get fit a lens larger than 9cm in a spy plane... Here's the Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imagery_intelligence And here's the equation: Image resolution = 1.22 * (wavelength of light / lens diameter) * distance (all units in meters) You can do the math from there. :smartass:
  21. Too soon! :P --NoJoe
  22. So I'll be brave and be one of the few here to say: I'm really looking forward to a DCS Su-27S! I think it would be a fun module to learn. It's unfortunate that we won't get the SM, but oh well. The S is still a cool airplane. As a Flanker fan, I can't see how this is a bad thing! --NoJoe
  23. Sounds like what happens if the collective is pulled all the way up. I guess check to make sure your collective is in the lower range of its travel. (also double-check that the axis didn't get reversed; that happened to me once and I got exactly what you're describing). :) --NoJoe
  24. Wow, that's a great article! As a fixed-wing flight instructor myself it's always interesting to read things like that. And definitely helped my in-sim Huey flying. Gotta go take a 30 minute helicopter intro flight one of these days.. --NoJoe
  25. Make sure the Visibility Range in your graphics setting is set to at least medium. When I set it to Low I get the same sort of thing. Took me a while to figure that one out. :) --NoJoe
