Yeah, Slacker, I agree. There is something there...on top of the engine noise. 안녕하세요 mvsgas. Yeah, I guess that's a very basic problem with most non-standard, empirically measured aspects of a product like this(as opposed to measuring verifiable things ie avionics, wep system behavior, etc.) . Cheers, Moosh PS R U at Gunsan? just curious.

Copy that. I was actually referring to the compression of air--the sort of low, "scraping" or "carving" sound--perceived by the stationary ear--as in a flyby view--as opposed to what is heard by the pilot in-cockpit. THX edit: This A10 clip illustrates the texture of sound I'm referring to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwuzIQGRef0&feature=related Perhaps it's enhanced due to the echo against the canyons (?)

This is cribbed from wikipedia (as most of my science knowledge is): Different aircraft types have different noise levels and frequencies. The noise originates from three main sources: Aerodynamic noise Engine and other mechanical noise Noise from aircraft systems Aerodynamic noise Aerodynamic noise arises from the airflow around the aircraft fuselage and control surfaces. This type of noise increases with aircraft speed and also at low altitudes due to the density of the air. Jet-powered aircraft create intense noise from aerodynamics. Low-flying, high-speed military aircraft produce especially loud aerodynamic noise. The shape of the nose, windshield or canopy of an aircraft affects the sound produced. Typically noise is generated when flow passes an object on the aircraft, for example the wings or landing gear. Such meticulous attention is paid to DCS sims. I wonder whether this is, in fact, implemented in the a10's flyby sound or is being considered. I'm sorry for the minutiae--have no idea whether this is a completely ridiculous request or whether it's just a matter of a simple mod (replacing one sound file for another). "Inquiring minds...", and all that. Here's one example Would someone in the know about these things be able to weigh in? Many thanks. Cheers, Moosh

I have a burning Q about the sound--Particularly, flybys. I wonder why our beloved sim doesn't have the sound of an approaching bird as is audible at 1:00 of this clip Again, not a gripe, just a Q. There must be a technical term for it (smth along the lines of the doppler effect?) It sounds like my mother scraping the pot for the last bit of tomato sauce, or something. (sorry, not very good at analogies). I love the sound in this sim... I just wonder whether it couldn't be improved even moreso. Didn't mean to go OT. But am dying to know about this. Cheers all, Moosh

Still a novice at this ME, but it's getting a bit easier. I hope this is fun and would really appreciate feed-back in order to improve. The first battle of the American Civil war, the Battle of Bull Run, with its heavy casualties on both sides foreshadowed what was to become the bloodiest war in American history. ______________________ Good Luck and thanks to WarriorX, Fish and the gents at DCS forums. --Mooshim This is available here now.:) http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/59621/ Take care all, I'm going to bed.

Clever way to remember TMS vs China Hat commands
mooshim replied to latearrival's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
These are quite old...( a few months?) I hope they still are accurate... It was way back in the beta stages...( how far we have come ) Anyway... I do hope they help someone. The lighter one is for printing. Cheers, Moosh I assigned INS and Pageup to China hat keys -
Frankly, I'm too much of a newb to verify this myself. :( Wonder if a pilot could give some indication of this. Many thanks. Moosh Not for nothing but... "--Oi Vey, the patch is Oisgeshtrozelt..."--as my Jewish Gradmother, would say, if I had one, God rest her soul.
