Put up a predator (on AFAC)... --he seems to be calling out UTM coords. Tried to put a strike eagle up there on Recon or AFAC...but it's not allowing me to. (trying to avoid setting it on ground attack so that he'll assign me the work). Will continue to work on it with other air assets so as to get somebody to call out L/L coords...so I can put this thread to work. Thanks for the help. Will put up a miz for others when it's done. EDIT: Hmm... It seems I've misunderstood. Fish seems to call AWACS for a bullseye call. Have implemented AWACS E3 and no joy for targets he flies over. --I DID notice that predator tallies armor with a bullseye call, but gives a UTM Coord nineline. --Bizarre. --Wonder if this is SOP (?) --Not getting discouraged. I'll try this again... ~Moosh

Thanks to Fish and Warrior X for their helpful contributions. A Quick Q. Would you have a quick word of advice for creating a mission with awacs that would be able to pick out targets? --or is it pretty self-explanatory. Should AWACS have certain paramaters--ie distance from/to tgts? ...I guess I could always try it out myself like an adult... :( Anyway... lol Thanks for any advice, Moosh

sounds like one of my hookups.. ...ahem.

I think it gets smaller in the Winter.

Is there both localizer AND beacon tone for ILS
mooshim replied to mooshim's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Does that post come with footnotes? :D Not a bad post (for your first try ;) )... One more post like that, my head is going to explode. Anyway... Welcome, Sir! -
cf. page 150 Not sure how (or whether, for that matter) to interpret the ILS tone. I hear a low tone and a few miles from approach a repeated high tone. Are they both from the same source? do they simply indicate on glidescope? Could someone in the know help me out? Just curious. Thx ~Moosh

Always considered myself a slacker in this area. I avoided refueling for fear of failure and frustration. I could never refuel in F4, Flanker, FC, F/A 18 or any other... An hour ago. By complete accident, I screwed something up in the cockpit and speed and altitude froze on my HUD --stuck at 167 indicated... I was on my way to tanker and said, what the hell. Best thing I ever did. I paid close attention to the sound of the engine. Stopped "playing the digits" to the left and right of the HUD and focused on ever-so-slight adjustments with Velocity Vector and focused on the sound of the engine to indicate speed. Once connected, I just breathed and focused on the velocity vector. It took a few times, but finally got the word that I was full. Best flight I've ever had in a Sim. My advice: experiment with adjusting the slider on your throttle Breathe while you're connected. Just focus... --But, above all, don't give up. You'll surprise yourself. If I can do this, anyone can. ~Moosh

That was low... :)

Threads like this give me the feeling that you guys downloaded a different sim from mine.

Startup + Grnd Power... How should the procedure differ?
mooshim replied to mooshim's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
copy that... will try it again, THX -
What are recommendations to altar startup method? Is it simply to be expected that the egi is available to to me earlier? --Also...and probably more importantly--How can I avoid being yelled at upon taxiing? Looking to avoid the --"Hey, What're you doing?!" --Turning off the grnd power subsequent to receiving permission to taxi seems of no use. Many thanks as usual for the help! ~moosh

Hooking up to ground power and then, having neglected to disconnect, I get a "Hey! What are you doing?!?" ...almost soiled myself when i first heard it. ...now I never remember to turn off grnd power and have gotten used to it.

Read this here http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/JTAC making the distinction of the three types in effect. The significance of 2 or 3--to me as a pilot acquiring and delivering ordnance to target--is still something that escapes me. Does anyone have a suggestion? It's still a bit opaque for me. Thanks. Cheers, Moosh

--Where's my pen? --------------- Congrats to OP on 101 posts... Yes, there's a bit of barbarism to weps deployment...if you choose to look at it that way. IRL, that is. But, there's nothing in the Geneva Conventions about killing AI. Have at it! Pass the napalm...and a couple of those mines with the plastic bits that don't show up on X-ray charts.

A nosey question about Matt's rig...

Wags' system: Asus P6T, i7 975 @ 3.33, 6 GB DDR3, GTX295, and Win7 64 It's the card that I was principally curious about. (I'm not familiar with the other components.) I understand the practicality of having, say, a medium range card. I would be flying DCS a10c with a mid-range system that represents the average consumer. And so, have an accurate representation of how they might be experiencing my product. However, I imagine that, if I were a developer...I would have the sweetest system on the planet for a very specific reason. Selfishly, of course, to enjoy all that my software has to offer...but also practically--that is, to have the capability to experience all that my product has to offer my customers in the near future, as prices fall and as more (formerly) high-end systems get into the hands of us mortals :). It's just something I've always wondered about. It would seem to me, as a developer, a priority to run my product on a system with the best quality, fastest, most powerful available components. I assume, too, that it certainly would be a justifiable allocation of resources. Perhaps I'm way off in my thinking. Wags hasn't upgraded his system in a long while, it seems. I wonder why. This is an entertaining assessment of the DCS A-10 experience...
mooshim replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I'm a teacher by profession. Which basically means I get paid to teach and most people ignore me. :) I work at (putatively) the top university in my country of residence and not a single day goes by that I'm not reminded of the increasing resistance of students to study. My students think taking a class is tantamount to studying the subject. "Studying happens outside of the class," I tell them while everyone rolls their eyes. Consumers of a study sim are students. Students should be turned on--lit up inside--by a learning curve. Agency, initiative, curiosity--these are the things that distinguish a decent student. Learning something new fires off chemicals in the brain and that is a good thing. All the better if one is able to nurture his own curiosity, do a bit of research, ask the questions, do the brainwork, consult the manual and bounce his ideas off of others...and marvel at how well others are able to explain and articulate their own understanding of this weapon system or those features wingman management...or Q-calls, or correct trim for fuel efficiency, etc. The fruit hanging from the higher branch tastes better. Much better if you've picked it yourself. This is why we're bored by Top Gun Airfighter 2000 for XBox... Games are Entertainment. Entertainment is diversion. --Nothing wrong with that at all! I'm not a snob. (I loves me some Angry Birds from time to time...Good FM and decent damage model.:smilewink:) However, diversion seems the farthest thing from the effect DCS a10c is intended to have on even the most casual a10c simmer. Cheers, Moosh -
Am making a training mission where aircraft meets increasingly difficult threats SAM threats to defeat. Would really appreciate some guidance on which threats are easiest and most difficult to face for the hog. Even a list of five would be helpful. Many thanks in advance. Will post when finished. Moosh

How would a British SpecOps FAC read out target coordinates?
