  1. The SSD is waiting for the CPU to decompress because its a single core task. Thats why it still takes a long time but its not because of the SSD itself. ED really need to take DCS to the multicore era.
  2. you know something you want to tell us? :D
  3. 3000Mhz strap doesnt exist in the Ryzen platforms. Either 2933 or 3066. The Guy at the shop has not made his homework TBH, he should have known this. But I hope at least you will get a better kit (SAMSUM B die) this time.
  4. Summit ridge can beat intel right now if you get the right hardware. S6yp7Pi39Z8[/Youtube] Sadly the silicon lottery didnt go my way as my CPU cant handle low latency 4X8GB at 3333Mhz (currently at 3200 low latency) and I hope pinnacle can do it at least 3600Mhz.
  5. if the Zen + gets an overclock higher than 4.2 Ill get a 2800X direct CPU upgrade for sure next year! Still cheaper than getting the 7820X I was considering before it was launched (and apparently marginally any faster).
  6. That IS a beast of a RIG, congrats!
  7. we only need to get 15% more performance per core to basically nullify the entire Intel lineup up to 10 cores for far far less money (not that they wont still trade blows right now). Its clear by now that Skylake-X and coffee lake offer ZERO IPC improvements. AMD has a clear window of opportunity to just fly-by intel. We'll see.
  8. Join the club my friend :D
  9. the 8700K is a beast of a CPU so much so it screws up people who got 8 cores on X299 platform. It will be awesome for DCS but unless you have other applications to take advantage of more than 4 full cores I'd rather keep that 4790k and go for a better graphics card. A 1080Ti comes to mind.
  10. zero-zero when the sink rate is neutral, but it appears to be high in the video and in that case ejection wont save the pilot.
  11. neither, get a 1070Ti instead http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/gigabyte-teases-geforce-gtx-1070-ti.html
  12. this is my testing with DCS 2 compared to my old rig. This is with early BIOS way back in April. I have crancked up the CPU to 3.9 and memory to 3200 since (was 3.85 with 2933 respectively plus some more finetuning). Please note that I have tested the 2 CPU's at start with the same GFX (a GTX 970) and then I also measured the difference with the introduction of a 1080Ti in the R7. The numbers dont make justice how much the experience has improved with the R7+1080Ti. The variation in FPS was much lower while always remaining well above 60 FPS versus the choppy performance I had before (the tests with the 2500K must have had many frames dropped). but the other side of the coin is that the game is far more dependent on the GFX side now. You dont need an R7 if DCS is your main goal. You can go I7 7700 or R5 1600 for basically very similar experience, and the later will be far cheaper than the R7 or the I7. I got an 8 core for star citizen and future proofing. I have not joined the VR bandwagon. Im still recovering from a tight budgetary situation. ;)
  13. Same CPU here, and it's smooth as it can be maxed out. Have you updated the BIOS? Make sure SATA and PCI-E lanes are set to 3 and disable game DVR in windows. You can also disable telemetry of both windows 10 and NVIDIA drivers. I use SPYBOT. Move DCS over to the SSD as well. This is almost a requirement for best experience these days. Good luck!
  14. Crossovers are getting out of hand lately! vDxNPxbpFmo
  15. this thing needs a nuclear reactor allocated just for itself. damn
  16. Rumor has it NVIDIA will release a 1070ti model to combat VEGA54
  17. Best manufacturers are corsair seasonic EVGA gold 80% plus and above efficiency for example, you can get away with the best 600w PSU or a lower 850w depending on the price
  18. Yeah, once is OK. But... 4 times in a row in the tomato F3? (it's nick name when doing BFM) I'm sure the Americans thought that they were doing leisure flights and then the tornados decided to buzz them by. :D
  19. these days sensors have no trouble picking up biplanes even if they are mostly made of wood and canvas by area and volume, they still have radar reflecting materials (im thinking about those piston engines). AESA radars and IIR sensors can pick up minimal signatures much better than 1980's F-14's. :D End result would be a massacre and no competition.
  20. OMG just found this gem on youtube. By now every country must have a glorious story against a US navy carrier in mock engagements. This guy is Brit just listen how he supposedly beat F14/F18's using a mix of Tornado F3 + Hawks (?!!!) eM-1gBW4Ng0 How much credibility can we credit to this? :D
  21. My 760W powers a 1080Ti, but it's seasonic. There are simulators at the power supply manufacturers sites, you only need to google them
  22. makes sense, its the red planet :D
  23. Buy a new 16 GB RAM kit (do not mix with your older kit) and a new GFX. I recommend a Vega 56 but check its power requirements first. otherwise get a 1070.
