  1. I became a celebrity on the PC shop's blog and facebook page after the staff published photos of components from my order arriving. Everyone asking who was crazy enough to get four 4266Mhz sticks alongside a SAMSung Evo in the 1TB capacity. I havent picked it up yet. Waiting for the case and cooler.
  2. special bin just for him. :D
  3. Yeah, I will use just 2 sticks to start. The reason I went with these was because the prices are going up and according to info o the market they likely won't come down for quite a while. 4000 and 4133mhz kits are even more expensive at the moment. BTW, the sticks are rated 1.4V above the 1.3V of the lower bins.
  4. your right the 7700K is faster for DCS. But I cant stand on that leg alone, I have to consider general use and have that projected into the future to properly engineer my next rig. And during my research I came to the conclusion I'd rather give up Mhz rather then cores. Why? there's nothing that the I7 can run that R7 can't almost equally well. I can tweak and overclock any CPU but I cant grow more cores. I can change the AMD CPU later for minimal cost, the I7 is on a dead end. Adding insult to injury, 6 months from now (at most) they will finally lower the I7 7700K price when they re-brand it as I5 8600K cofee lake tech for 100$ less and no IPC improvements. That's mental.
  5. Update: memories will be the cutting edge 4266Mhz trident Z part number F4-4266C19D-16GTZR (2 kits) strangely the price for 4000 and 4133 Mhz kits is even higher (different suppliers) the supplier could not get the Case, So I offered 2 alternatives, it will be either the PRO-M or corsair 400C.
  6. Actual speed is half of the rated RAM specs because it's dual pumped. That's 2000mhz actual. People are hitting 3600 already (1800), and that's with an alpha BIOS. Granted there is no guarantee, it's just feasible and not set on stone yet, which leaves a lot experimenting to be done. The RGB fans are for exhaust, they don't need to spin fast. The 140mm ones are for push pull arrangement on the AIO, they supposedly are quiet but the case is sound insulated anyway.
  7. The temperature readings on the X versions is offset by 20 degrees Celsius. They should all be the same, though the 1700X should clock to 4Ghz, most non X models hit 3.9, though that's a gamble on my part.
  8. LOOOL :megalol: BTW, I dont have the parts yet, its on order. I dont expect them to be here for a while given the shortages, but you bet Im going to document the build and the oveclocking craze that will follow. Specially the memories, I have no idea if 4000Mhz will ever be reachable (people are getting to 3600Mhz now), but the prices are going up so I decided to shoot in the dark right now.
  9. I have always been totally against going overboard with hobbies, only to do the exact opposite on a shopping spree. :D I have restocked with mineral water and bread properly for the next 2 months. :) Seriously I cant afford this. But did it because prices for some parts are going up and wont come down till next year at the earliest and my 6 year old 2500K is having BSOD's and freezes on HDD copies. On order: Case: cancelled the P400S and Phanteks Pro-M It's now the Corsair 400C PSU: SEASONIC 760W Platinum CPU: AMD RYZEN 1700X MOBO: ASUS CROSSHAIR HERO VI AM4 Cooler: NXZT Kraken X62 280mm AIO RAM: two 4266Mhz 16GB kits of trident Z RGB F4-4266C19D-16GTZR (yeah I'm nuts) Storage: Samsung 960 EVO 1TB M.2+6GB WD 6Gb red for my p...data [uPDATED]GFX: MSI 1080 Ti Gaming X Extras: two 140mm corsair ML fans for the AIO (may do push-pull) Three RGB corsair 120 fans+contoller mounted at the top and rear for extra flare
  10. they dont loose 240€ if they sell the 2133 mems. I have spent some time doing that in the past, I always got most of the money back, specially if the parts are recent.
  11. did not say 3600 MHZ mems were cheap, I mentioned the 2133Mhz ones. Not much of a loss to discard them.
  12. Those modules are dirt cheap and they can upgrade in a few months after BIOS fixes anyway.
  13. they could have made 4:0 and 4:2 for their 4 and 6 cores but prices would go up as silicon flaws occur more often in both CCX's rather than just one of them.
  14. 3600Mhz RAM closes the gap between R7 and 7700K for gaming. We should see Ryzen break the threshold at 4GhZ RAM, and with a full Ghz CPU clock disadvantage, This is remarkable. RZS2XHcQdqA
  15. A lot of games already can tax the I7 on all 8 threads, thus is not something for the future, it's happening now, just not for DCS yet
  16. Your upgrade configuration is capable because DCS requirements are modest, the 7700k would be better for other titles, but DCS does not need an i7
  17. who payed 700€ a month ago are cursing NVIDIA now. And I dont blame them, they could have gotten the Ti for that money.
  18. for real men they had this: 6BDgQwlfHII
  19. where do you get the 1001 BIOS? I only see 902 on their official site: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-CROSSHAIR-VI-HERO/HelpDesk_Download/ glad to hear about your experience. One step closer to final selection. :)
  20. It still buys 2.5 brand new F-16 block 52+ :D
  21. Hi guys. I'm ramping up to get a new PC. I would have donne it already if the new AMD CPU's had more mature BIOS and compatible memory kits (see details below). But I was wondering if this CPU is comparable with Intel ones for DCS. Current desirable parts: -Case: PHANTEKS P400S TG part number PH-EC416PSTG_WT -ASUS CROSSHAIR hero VI AM4 motherboard -Ryzen CPU model: TBD -Seasonic Platinum 850W PSU -Memory G-SKILL 32 GB DDR4 RGB@4000+Ghz when they are certified, if not might drop to other Trident-Z 3600 or 3200 kits -Cooler: likely the NZXT Cracken X62 + 4 Corsair 140mm ML static pressure fans for push-pull -Storage: SAMSUNG 960 EVO 1TB -GFX: Vega or 1080 Ti (OMG) So are there any of you out there with this new CPU that would be willing to share his experiences?
