  1. Its easy. The I7's internal controller officially support up to 2400Ghz DDR4 dual channel. The other speeds can be selected in BIOS after buying RAMs rated at those speeds. Thats what (OC) means, and you dont necessarily have to overclock the RAM istelf. The choice then comes to price. Most lower tier speeds are priced close to each other until a certain level and thats the sweetspot you should lookout for. Depending on the country and avaiability where you are, as you go up in speed there will be one with a bigger price jump from the previous, and thats where you should stop and buy. It'll probably be 2800 or 3000 RAM, maybe even 3200Mhz. Going 3600Mhz and above offers rapidly diminishing benifits for much higher prices. Timings should be 15-15-15-32 (or -34) ideally, or less (tends to increase the higher the MHz go). Do not take higher than 16-16-16-35.
  2. Monty, wait a few weeks for AMD new Ryzen CPU's and vega GPU's. You will likely be able to get better deals then. Even Intel I5 CPU's have been slowly dragged to premium territory due to lack of competition until now. For what I have been hearing youll be able to get an I7 equivalent on AMD's side for 200$ or less. I know what they say about waiting in the PC world, but this time is worth it. There will be a chance we can get more hardware under the hood for the money. I can think of a better GPU then.
  3. I also got a 2500K and in search of a replacement. Except I will need multi-threading as DCS is not my only game. So my requirement differential to yours is only the number of logical cores for the CPU. At this time 8GB is not enough, and the speed of DD3 RAM is severely limiting when overclocking the CPU at 4+ GHZ is involved. At this time Intel is overcharging their hardware, even I5's to a premium price due to lack of competition from AMD however if you can wait a month all this will change. AMD is about to release the new RYZEN architecture and rumours have it that will be competitive IPC wise but at lower prices. At this time I would wait a few more weeks until prices are announced but as mentioned you should be able to spend less on CPU+motherboard and more on the GPU. Speaking of which the new AMD VEGA architecture is tailored torwards 4K and shouldnt be too pricey compared to NVIDIA counterparts. The current intel+NVIDIA options are pricey and thechnically limited when you consider what you get for the buck if you want to stay on a sane budget limit.
  4. Get the EVO, you'll upgrade before the warranty runs out anyway.
  5. its the closest thing to a flying smile like this :D
  6. Intel made a lot of crap after Sandy Bridge, like cheap TIM and the 6 series was notable for TIM release off from the heat spreader. Before that the spreader was soldered which was far more reliable and had better Temps. These days you need to de-lid Intel cpu's except the premium 6 and 8 cores
  7. I have a 2500k 1,2 GHz above its stock clock for 6 years. The fear of cpu life is overrated.
  8. the 970 is still a force to be reckoned with. The I5 is decent, and RAM is pleantiful. The clear weak link is the mechanical hard drive, so: SSD Not only solves load times (that doesnt interest you), it solves stuttering and wait times during gameplay (that should interest you).
  9. 6 years for me
  10. Huh? At this point it becomes evident that you and reality have gone separate ways. :D The difference between stock and overclock is the same between a typewriter and a gaming machine. You should get at least 800mhz more with a K cpu.
  11. For DCS an I5 will do, and the 7600K is ideal. However if you do any serious gaming beyond it or any productivity work, an I7 might be in order. If your not disgusted by AMD branding you might consider Ryzen 8 core for mostly the same price, even though it should clock lower than intel's you do have extra 8 cores under the hood when you need them in the future. Lots of initial info on all this is droping fast from CES 2017 but we still didnt get the bench and pricing details on the red side.
  12. difficult choice but I would take the SSD first probably as that has an impact on system responsiveness. You will want a 512 GB model as they are the best for capacity/price ratio right now. You dont absolutely need a new board for overclocking right now as the CPU is recent, maybe when you get more funds months from now, and faster memory as 2133Mhz may not be able to keep up to give the best results. Idealy, 3000Mhz mems, at least 2800.
  13. Not a big deal. They have been auto-tuning voices forever. First time I realized it by myself something was fishy was with Ace of base and Cher's Do you believe the love. Quite a while back. You cant become an artist without friends in the right places to get you an agent. Sufice to hear all those amazing talents on song contests and then nobody hears about then again.
  14. the leaks concern midrange boards only and not gaming models. Relax. there is a reason why the OEM world is anticipating badly for the release.
  15. I had to dismantle my PC as well due to strange issues I had. DUST KILLS I will eventually replace it in 2017 tho.
  16. gutted :( Fond memories of her capturing the worlds imagination. 2016 was a terrible year for artists, let 2017 come.
  17. Merry christmas everyone. ^_^
  18. Politics shouldnt be allowed to be the main drive for the companies future plans. Companies have departments with speciallists for that, who shouldnt be ovverriden by a directive that will only last as long as that administration does.
  19. OMG, look what I have found! S3a5j8PgQxg What terrible thing to subject actors to. :D
  20. Cpu is what you need, until Zen arrives AMD chips are a no-go. If you want a cheap upgrade from this manufacturer then you might want to get the middle tier Zen as they will cost under 200 bucks.
  21. OK, this is not April fools yet but I just got word that Portugal will have its own Space agency in 2017. :hehe: This news is related with the eventual installation of a spaceport in the Azores for ESA rocket launches. In order to do this, a local agency will be created in order to study, implement and control local launch activity and coordinate cooperation between private and state companies connected to aerospace technology thus joining the strict club of nations that have both agencies and launch bases. The Agency will be created in 2017 as work begins. Source (in portuguese). http://expresso.sapo.pt/sociedade/2016-12-04-Portugal-a-nova-nacao-espacial
  22. I want that :D
  23. Maybe not a Mig-25 but a Mig-31 for sure.
  24. I think the Russians are happier too. lolz couldnt resist. :D
  25. Wait a minute... Wasn't GE developing an engine with rolls royce that got canceled already?
