Yeah Im half out now. Just waiting to see if AMD comes up with some decent rasterizing performance uplift. I dont give a rodents behind about ray tracing.

And there's this. Im disappointed to know how Ampere wasn't meant to be as great as it technically could be just so few bucks could be saved. To compensate that NVIDIA just ramped up the marketing machine knowing people would be lining up to pre order even poorly built chips. tXb-8feWoOE

yeah I tried to dissuade people away from it in these forums when it got launched but at some time I gave up because I was borderline bursting their bubbles so I stopped. w83UBXZVwDo

I wouldn't touch these VRAM starved cards. There will be other models unveiled as soon as AMD drops theirs, or go for the later. We already know they will have more VRAM.

NVIDIA got the short end of the stick regarding silicon suppliers because they got stuck with a crappy SAMSUNG 8nm node while AMD will be using the bleeding edge 7+. I have read numerous articles about 3080 VS Big navi (and some say there will be a biggest navi), and my best educated guess in that NVIDIA will win the absolute FPS number performance crown with ray tracing, but AMD will offer you something that trails close behind it, but with the least power consumption while giving you the most VRAM for lower prices. There's that. IF they trail 5%-10% behind with sane power consumptions (say 250W) and more than 10GB VRAM NVIDIA is offering(I have 11GB on a 3 year old card for crying out loud) I know what card I will be getting. Disclaimer: I dont give a rodents behind about brands.

We used to get same MSRP at launch as the previous generation. It seems to be over since the 2000 series.

I was willing to buy a new GFX more or less twice as fast as my 3 year old 1080Ti for the same amount of money and incredibly this isn't it. I would only be able to buy a 3070 but it has less cuda cores and less VRAM. ooph Let's see what AMD brings later on the year.

Interesting video just dropped on youtube. Figured out you guys would like to take a peek. :) rPWy-gYnQKM

Critique my prospective build.

get faster RAM. I am running 32Ghz at 3600Mhz and I think I can do more if I figure out one way to prevent hot air from my GFX from reaching the RAM. -
Has anyone tried the 10900k yet?
Pilotasso replied to james111333's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
DCS may or may not be RAM bound. Depends. Since your system dates back to 2011 I would assume what your observing could be alleviating a bottleneck on your particular system but may have diminishing returns for more modern systems which very likely will benefit more from a faster graphics card. I made this observation because I had opportunity to test changing graphics card (from a GTX 970 to a 1080Ti) on my Ryzen machine and I saw huge improvements from that but less so from processor (2700X to a 3900X) or switching from 3200 to 3600Mhz RAM frequency. -
Tell me, doesn't this just smell like a scam?

Scams are on high gear since the cough cough began. Stay away from risky business. -
OMG this is a blast from the past...

Mhz alone wont do much for the XT's. Watch this: X6RSEU1d-g8 It will take a huge boost to infinity fabric clock to do that. Rumour has it XT chips will reach 2000 Mhz fabric but that was not tested ever. Mine is already 1800Mhz so it wont be huge. Also you need expensive RAM to reach 4000Mhz. -
which gpu suits better in an older pc ?

Its a budget build not a workstation for gaming :D If COVID affected you then this is the worst time to plan an upgrade. Come back later when your on your feet again after your priorities have been addressed. -

You need a complete upgrade. I guess you are budget limited? My suggestion: AMD 3600 CPU. Cheap B450 board 16 GB of 3200Mhz RAM. Radeon 5600XT ABSOLUTELY avoid a expensive graphics card on such old system. -

Yes the I5 is the logical and obvious choice on intel side. I have been watching the reviews and my goodness they are misleading. You have to look in to the devil in the details such as: 1-power consumption and temperatures to reach 5Ghz is not really feasible for the i9 24/7 without monster cooling apparatus that most people never consider buying. 2- I9 tested on 360 AIO, while older CPU's are air cooled, yeah right. 3-Why are people using old games such as far cry 3 and GTA I don't know. Once you reach a certain FPS threshold (far higher than what your monitor refresh rate is capable of or than you need) you'll see stuttering settling in due to poor game optimization. 4-Also anything with modern API sees Intel's advantage evaporate away. But this is rarely ever shown. 5-They show new CPU's overclocked VS older on Stock. 6-AMD side for example they often even don't show up configured with the recommended memory & infinity speeds (3600/1800) that the chips are capable of out of the box. Thats 5-20% of performance chopped off right there. 7- while they are at it, the memory speeds in comparisons are different. Even the 7700K can run 3600 Mhz RAM, so all CPU's should be tested without memory bottlenecks. 8- Most reviewers fail to choose benchmarks with complex scenes with many units on screen like a battle for example and opt instead to go 1080P standard single person shooters built in benchmarks when they are more adequate for graphics cards. -
Which CPU and Motherboard to run DCS really well?
Pilotasso replied to CommandT's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
consider buying a discount 9700K or a 9900K instead of a 10 gen CPU, due lack of availability of the latter and gouging prices not to mention there will be no change on your gaming experience. That is only valid if you really don't want to consider AMD side. -
its interesting that the the roof blowing off follows the wake of the aircraft rather than the engine jet wash (much stronger and on the opposite direction). That's Hollywood for you :D

I hope what comes out of this is more education by experience, because the rate of spread is clearly an indicator people dont know how to act and several of the governments in the west have been complacent (mine included) and are reacting & improvising as they go. Note: South Korea's performance in this Area has been OUTSTANDING and we should all learn something from them.
