I would have gone 4K if it wasn't for the low refresh rates. That was the reason why I switched from one 1440P monitor to the other (60Hz to 144Hz), after a while in gaming my eyes felt the difference. As a added bonus the colors are really alot better also.

Yep, I got a new 27" AORUS monitor with Freesync and HDR and its awesome with my 1080Ti. If you can get a 32" with same that would even better.

X370 have gotten the new BIOS'es for Ryzen 3000 as well, but I advise you not to flash before the new CPU''s arrive because for my board they actually cause performance drops on current CPU's.

Those benchmarks mostly use founder edition 1080Ti's. For the 20 series they binned the founders higher so they are the overclocked ones. This is all down to clever marketing by NVIDIA.

is your current RAM DDR4 dual channel? If not you might need to replace that as well regardless if you go AMD or Intel.

I was comenting Rudel's post about the 2600K. 9600K is faster right now but it might not matter with Vulkan and at savings on top (6 physical threads VS 12 logical ones). IMHO choosing a CPU for the next 4-5 years based on the current game engine state knowing Vulkan is coming is a mistake, though I respect your opinion. This is not a straightforward choice.
