  1. I loved Flight of the Intruder. It came with the book included and was supposed to be released concurrently with the movie, but it was one of the earliest victims of the Two Weeks syndrome. Taking off from the carrier and going feet dry to attack a sam system was sweet. And when I got a CPU with co-processor, it got even sweeter lol. Probably can run the hell out of the thing now on a phone.
  2. Did you run across an ED product being used as some sort of trainer? There was a pic floating around of a class full of (I assume) cadets on stations running what looked to be ED software.

  5. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2061983/Teenage-video-game-players-brains-like-gambling-addicts.html?ITO=1490 vs. From the Wikipedia article on Flow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology): Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person in an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity. Proposed by Mihály Csíkszentmihályi, the positive psychology concept has been widely referenced across a variety of fields.[1] According to Csíkszentmihályi, flow is completely focused motivation. It is a single-minded immersion and represents perhaps the ultimate in harnessing the emotions in the service of performing and learning. In flow, the emotions are not just contained and channeled, but positive, energized, and aligned with the task at hand. To be caught in the ennui of depression or the agitation of anxiety is to be barred from flow. The hallmark of flow is a feeling of spontaneous joy, even rapture, while performing a task[2] although flow is also described (below) as a deep focus on nothing but the activity – not even oneself or one's emotions. Colloquial terms for this or similar mental states include: to be on the ball, in the moment, present, in the zone, wired in, in the groove, or keeping your head in the game. Gaming Flow is one of the fundamental reasons that people play video games.[23] This is especially true since the primary goal of games is to create entertainment through intrinsic motivation. The use of flow in games helps foster an enjoyable experience which increases motivation and draws players to continue playing. Game designers, in particular, benefit from integration of flow principles into game design.[24] Games facilitate flow as either an individual or group activity. Flow in games has been linked to the Laws of Learning as part of the explanation for why learning games (the use of games to introduce material, improve understanding, or increase retention) can show such incredible results.[23] In particular, flow is intrinsically motivating, which is part of the Law of Readiness. The condition of feedback, required for flow, is associated with the feedback aspects of the Law of Exercise. The positive emotions associated with flow are associated with the Law of Effect. The intense experiences of being in a state of flow are directly associated with the Law of Intensity.

  23. Looks like GPS, as EtherealN said. This is from cmatt, and F-18 pilot over on the Seven-G forum: "Skwabie - the INS has a GND and CV align mode. When selected to CV, the ship transmits the required coordinate information and updates it. Once the GPS kicks in, then it takes over. Normally about 4 - 5 mins for an alignment. Not normally a problem because you are busy doing other checks (radar, FCS, FLIR, programming IFF/AI etc)." http://seveng.forum3.info/t8p15-questions-about-the-f-18
